Hill climb this weekend a girl on a kx65 defeat 2 kx500s by 100 feet . Her Hp advantage was obvious!!! I stayed in the rain to watch and my pick face planted on the wall jump !

Mr Kaplan America, you should really look up a man out here in Oregon, LED. He used to own LRD, Arlen Lehman. He started building bikes back in the 80's. In his 60's and still rocking. He builds some serious bad ass bikes. I used to work for him back in the 90's building pipes for him. Anyhow, he really is a 2 stroke king, both air and water cooled. I was in his shop recently and his air cooled 2 strokes that are on display are priceless. He builds one off pipes for the older bikes that are a testament to a proving ground for bad ass looks and proven HP
LRD built a set of adjustable pipes for my buddy's Banshee prob 25yrs ago. Amazing work and performance. It sounded like a busted open nest of angry bees
500 tangs tangs, vibrate things loose all the time, especially round the back end, my CR500 had a nasty habit of vibrating the rear sprocket bolts loose.

The Green Monster. I've been in love with green MX bikes since I was a kid, and this is the top of the heap of every single one of them. Ken brings some wisdom...it's doesn't matter what you ride, just ride. The high end stuff is incredible, but I had the time of my life on a 3.5 hp briggs and stratton minibike when I was 8 years old. That little thing hooked me on two wheels, and 40 years later, I'm still on dirt and in the street on two wheels.
I wanna see the bridging an port work that's what makes me happy 😊 nice bikes. I bet it's eats up bearings if it idles to long lol killer bike. The porting is what makes all the extra power. The other stuff helps a lot but the porting is where it's at an that big bore
Not just port size, but shape, flow angle, even finish. If I were a gambling man, Id bet it had some port filling and re-angling done to make it happy.

I know filling the crank where the fuel hit on a nitro rc engine dose a decent amount along with port matching an all that good stuff so on a 2 stroke it's not much different. So I'm sure it's got the works done to it. I hope they show it but they might not ppl who port stuff are not happy about showing what they do it's a touchy subject to get info from port modders An research only give you so much advise

@@conniestevenson226 I remember that The engine on my 550 would actually stop and I could give it a little bit of gas and it would start back up. I guess is because it had such a big fly wheel. But it did not have any type of Power valve so I bet you could really bring out some horsepower out of all of these bikes with power valve systems.

It and another bike got stolen a year or so ago.. Insurance didn’t cover it. So to everyone out there, dont get complacent, lock your bike up good. Kaplan I am in CT is the museum open now?
Ken you could build a 80H.P. CR 500 engine no problem brother. It cost ya but there's some old guys that know how to window pistons & bore, stroke & balance em out nice...👍🏻🏁
proline motorcycles cranbourne victoria ,australia had a kx 500 finke bike that had 90+ hp. anthony has it on proline facebook page.said could have got more if the pipe was able to be modified more..but didnt have the space to do the mod.this bike was raced in the desert

That pipe tuning that bluish color looks like Titanium to me. We weld repair Ti Jet Engine compressor impellers in a glove box welding booth with the air pumped out then pure Argon gas pumped back in. Exposure to oxygen when hot causes Ti to turn that cool color. Oxygen will also contaminate the welding process so we have O2 sensors inside the booth. And 75 HP is cool to see what is possible but diminishing returns takes effect, not only on the motor, but in how much power can be put to the ground that is useful. My CR500 kicks my tail with 60 HP as it is I can't imagine another 15. But chicks dig scars!
There is a sand hill at Glamis California that they use to line up to take your turn to try to go over the top with run what you brung ..i was there in 1978 ..there was everything in buggies and trucks ...i made. It over the top on a 1977 YZ125 after topping out at about 60+ in lose sand in high gear before i started up , then down shifting all the way to the top and just barely made it over ..it had rained all night and the sand dunes were brown soaking wet that were hard like a wet beach ..it was a once in a life time event..that morning anyways as by 2:30 that after noon it was all dried out back to white sandy dunes all lose again paddle tires only ..and my knobs useless ..so i loaded up and went on home .... But for a few hours the imperial sand dunes of Glamis California were soaking wet after a down pour the night and early morning rain storm ..that all that water soaked right into the dry sand without causing any wash outs just wet brown hard packed sand dunes of a wet knobby tire fast once in a life time ride

NOOOOO he has never paid for paintwork since and never will my services are free to him! He took it sooo well god that powerband I feel a deep respect for the green meanies
I saw that too I believe it has something to do with the GoPro camera and percussion of the exhaust affecting it you see it in drones without a stabilizing mount

The rear wheel looked like it was shaking all over the place might need bearings.

I had a 550 KTM and it had a much more noticeable amount of low end compared to the KX 500. I bet this thing really makes some sweet power.
This will also make a lot of low end torque since its a 5+stroker.plus powervalve

We had one. No port not stroked. 105 up at the tire. 41.5 electron Q16 fuel. We also hold the land speed record for dirt bike on a kx500.
