I had an 03 with a 270 big bore kit. It was all pro circuit equipped, Boysen Reeds, Hinson Clutches, Aluminum clutch basket, lightened flywheel, ported and polished head. I had a guy from R&D cycles do my suspension full race valving and sprung for a 235 lb rider. It was a sick machine. I miss it so bad. It was the fastest KX 250 in Indiana for sure. My buddy is a YZ fan and kinda hated on Kawis; he said they were pooches until I had him take my bike out and warm it up while I finished adjusting the new chain on my kids 99 CR 134. He came back from ripping 3 laps shaking like a leaf and white as a sheet. I asked him if he was okay and he said that it had scared the snot out of him when he came off a turn grabbed 3rd and it stood straight up on him. I told him he needed to get back on a pinger and quit riding the thumpers as it was making him feeble lol! Next to my 98 KX 500 it was the most powerful MX bike and quite possibly the fastest I have ever owned. There is something different about a well built Kawi versus a built Honda or other brand. I’m not even sure how to describe it other than it is a brutal force to be reckoned with. There are plenty of lighter and more agile bikes but I just feel at home on the green machines. I can punish the snot out of them and they keep asking for more. Ideally, if I could put a KX engine in an RM chassis I think I would have the ultimate bike. RM are like laser precision handling and KX built properly are just beastly engines.
I've gota 99 model still on its original bore, because the rings are changed every 10-15hrs and the piston is changed at 40hrs along with regular oil changes and only ever run motul or Castrol tts 2stroke oil, I also had a 92 model that I gave to my mate who rebuilt the hole bike and bored it out to 280cc, opened up the ports, boysen reeds, and pro circuit pipe, electron carb etc...the increase right through the power range was unbelievable, particularly through the bottom and mid range the power was like the ktm360
Beautiful bike . I’m a sucker for the 1996-1998. Bike was the same mostly from 94-98 but the purple from 96 was beautiful and the port design on the 1998 made the 1998 kx250 the most powerful 250 made. More hp i believe than not only any other kx but any other 250 period. More bottom end torque and more horsepower. Every year after 1998 got better and better with suspension, power valve design and I guess looks also but never could get that same power the 1998 had. Your 99-01 in the video looks fantastic but sounds a bit lean
Love these KXs! This one is a sweet example especially with all the purple. My own personal bike is an 02 and it’s also a rocketship although still only 249cc. Tons of low end and midrange makes it a nice do-everything bike. Keep em coming!!
Definitely a beautiful bike. The purple and the green go together awesome. Love those purple rims and handlebars. I forgot that this bike was bored out to 300, from when I watched the short clip video of this bike. I was wondering, what was up with the rear fender wagging when it's a 250. 😂 ML&R
WOW that is a kick-ass machine love that color of the frame the best I have ever seen it's got its own sound I'm telling you now people if you did not want to take the time to build a bike like this you cannot go wrong by buying one off of Ken Kaplan America you know you are getting a solid machine they cut no corners whoever gets that will be very proud❤️💪🏻💪🏻🤍👍🏻👍🏻💙🙏🙏💚🇺🇲✌🏼
I had a 93 kdx250 that the throttle would stick wide open on at the worst times. Cleaned the carb and lubed the cable multiple times but it would still happen. I found a kx500 carb, cable and throttle on eBay and put it on the bike and it was crazy how much it improved it. It was a totally different animal and I absolutely loved it. If I had known I would’ve done it sooner plus no more worries about the throttle sticking made me happy
Some day I will have my 83 CR480 looking like this, maybe not this much trickery but definitely will be as excited as Sr sounds lol. Also, on the off chance that you see this Mr. Kaplan, How much would an 84 CR500 front end decrease the value of an 83 480? Is there any chance it could increase value? I think not but anything is possible. Thanks for showing the world all of these wonderful 2 strokes!
Ken your wrecking me😢 that’s so funny you said that frame color he knew that color to man I see my buddy 399 racing. of me chasing him either on his 1996 250 500? Wow very nice bikes hope they go to good homes
I reckon that bike is probably priced at about $1000 for every time you said new. That brings it to roughly $200,000 usd and probably worth every dollar.
@@KaplanCycles I remember seeing the link for the Ebay store before.....can you post the link please. I'm sure it's posted somewhere and I'm just not seeing it. THANKS! Really sick bike.......like unbelievable!
I want that bike. I just got a 1996 KX 500 E. runs good and has too much HP for me at 66 HP. Would you make a trade??? I live in the Houston Texas area. Message me if you are interested. I'm serious. The KX 500 E will hurt or kill my 53 year old arse. I bought a 2024 YZinger 125 to play and have fun on. It's lots of fun. Let me know if your interested Ken. Anyways God bless y'all and love your channel.
@@positivecarry07 or I’m not old enough to ever have ridden on or own one. All my bikes have been aluminum frame. Yep not a true rider cuz I’m not ancient lol
That is cleaner than clean,I would hate to take it in the dirt, the back fender at idle shake is menacing
Love it! Have the same bike and doing a complete tear down and rebuild myself and you’re right, it costs a small fortune.

INSANIUM 😮, straight up wicked, that frame's to die for, straight up kawasaki trellis frame green 🤟
The bike control on Ken is awesome.
The color of the frame is awesome! Looks really good. I don’t know if I’d even be able to ride it that’s like living room ready.
Beautiful piece!! I will keep my 92 KX 250 until death due us part. Thanks. Gooooooo Kap!!!!!!@@
Should name that bike the joker 😮💯🤔🎋🥳🇺🇲nice Kawasaki.

The 99 generation went until 2002. The aluminum frame started in 2003
