- Dubai endeavours to clear devastating flood waters as expert says cloud-seeding was not to blame.
The storm, which first hit neighbouring Oman on Sunday, pounded the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Tuesday (April 16), flooding roads and causing gridlock that lasted for hours as rainwater inundated homes and businesses. One person was reported dead in the UAE and 20 in Oman.

Dear Dubai, Thank you for solving the problems quickly! For hard work! for the beauty! for cleanliness! for comfort! As for the storm, it is such a situation all over the world! as for the cars, they have to be changed for a long time! I am proud of you, my beloved Dubai!
Now comes the real issue as the foundations of the high rise buildings start giving way!
Dubai is going to have to invest heavily in flood water pumps and drainage canals in the event this situation happens again and it will. Dubai needs what they don't have which is a fleet of vac truck operators and storm drain identifiers. And to have major hydrostatic pumps to move storm water away from flooded areas outside the city. This was a major oversight in the Dubai storm and sewerage system.
They need engineers and technicians

the designers/architects of Dubai should explain they were not able to install adequate drainage.. I guess they retired in some nice island with their yatchs..
I actually know the architects from the heyday of Dubai and they all say that they were not allowed to install drainage as it is not necessary, costs a lot and is bad return on investment

I bet almost all the flooded areas have stormwater drainage system which is simply clogged. If they bothered to keep the existing drainage operational, the damage would have been much less. Ironically, there was a heavy rain almost 2 weeks before the big flood, and it clearly indicated all the flood zones. All it took - just to clean the drainage after it rained the first time.
