Hi, Cameron! I am late to the party, but I’m glad I finally made it here! 🌝 Your eye for color is just insane! You truly have a gift. I was also struck by your fabric choices for all the projects you showed…they are unique and beautiful. Now I look forward to catching up on some of your earlier videos! Until next time, Meline ☺️
Thanks for sharing your thoughts about generative AI. It is definitely an evolving area, and artists of all kinds are being adversely impacted. I trust we will get to the right place eventually, but appreciate your being intentional in considering how you will support businesses.
Hope you have a fabulous time at Market! 🙂 Loved seeing all of your gorgeous WIP’s. They’re all so pretty. So glad to see you’re a tall stitcher too, lol. I’m 5’8”, and my daughter is 6’1”! 👍Tall women rule!❤️
I love seeing all your stitching and your color choices for projects! I know this is kind of random, but I think your hair looks super cute today with the bows! I hope you have a great week, see you next time!
Here's what you need to know- you are FABULOUS! I love your videos and your vibe, and your conversions! Anyone who gets to meet you at market will be so lucky, so just push that imposter syndrome right outta here! Have fun this weekend!
Congrats on your finishes! Remember nothing has to be perfect with your FFOs. They are meant to bring you happiness. As someone who works in the art world, I agree. Nothing compares to actual human creativity. It is definitely the wild west. Recently my mother found an amigurumi cat she wanted me to crochet. Had to tell her it wasn't legit and was AI generated as click bait 😢 I hope work gets better for you ❤ Have a wonderful time at market. There are so many lovely patterns. 🤑 gotta hold tight to my purse strings.
Hope you have a blast at Market. Loved seeing your projects and hearing about your goals and plans. Thank you for sharing your thoughts about AI. We deserve more transparency from sellers as consumers so we can make informed decisions.
Drive safe and have an amazing time at market! I look forward to your recap and seeing pictures. That's cool you live in NoVA. I lived there for 3 years and loved it! I love all of your stitching and can I just say your nails are freaking fantastic! 🥰🥰
Yeah I've decided to pause on buying anything from HAED as well. I have a sneaking suspicion that those 15 artists that pulled their work from their might have done it because HEAD started listing a bunch of AI charts. They also took down all their freebie charts and put an AI generated chart as the only freebie but... the face does not look right..😅
Michelle said that this was not the reason those artist left, but she was really weird about it. She even deleted and reposted her Instagram post about it to remove the comments and Instagram stories people where making. Frankly, I’m wondering if she’s kicking out real artists to save money
I used your video as incentive to finish an online course today 😂 Working on love bugs sampler as I watch and your finish is inspiring me to keep stitching. I'm not having any issues with the pattern but I am conveniently no where near that bottom row of moths, will probably be my last stitches too. Safe travels to Nashville! I hope it's as magical as it sounds 💗
Your finishes are stunning! 😍 I love listening to you and seeing what you're working on. You have such an amazing aesthetic. I am completely in love with your black bows too, just the perfect accessory for you. Have so much fun at market!
WIPGO and stitch counts got me last year and this year I really figured out what I was doing and am much happier. The beginning of the year me is not the 2 months in me lol! Excited for your market experience! Would love an old fashioned pattern stitch a long. I have some old school stuff that just makes me happy! Grace Gill is bananas but 10/10 Here is my thing about AI. I posted something very similar to this on Jamie's video. It is REALLLLLY easy to beat up on HAED, but Michele knows where this technology is going. HAED is an easy target b/c they are the largest, most followed etc. This is the beginning of a very real creative thing and with anything creative the growing pains tend to be that early adopters are the ones who win....just historically that is the case. If you are a writer you also understand intellectual property. There are literally thousands of infractions that companies and stitchers go right along with purchasing, stitching, and using, without so much as a second thought. You can find flosstubers who stitch Disney, Pokemon, Nintendo, Anime, HP but no issue when it is a DIRECT copy of those companies art. I remember the early days of digital art and photoshop b/c I am truly a preinternet baby and the INSANE upgroar about what was "real" art and "creative" and should be allowed, used, graphic art is always a hotbed of angst. It will be fun to watch it progress and the rules develop as legislation catches up to technology.
I’m so open to learning more, my job is very much “learn how to harness AI, or get left behind” so I’m not scared of it but I need to do more research when it comes to art. And you are 100% right, HAED is an easy target, especially for those who are not well versed in the full coverage world. I appreciate you! I’m going to be doing more research and updated as I go ☺️
I‘m so happy for you about your skin! I’ve been struggling with hormonal acne since getting off the pill a few years ago and I finally splurged on some treatments and my skin is getting so much better. Here’s to taking better care of ourselves lol 💗
5' 10? why do you give shorty vibes?! lol that's cool though. Even though market will be a lot of work, I'm jelly you get to go. Have fun! Also consider a goth Raggedy Ann friend for your vintage one lol.
Hi there, projects look good. Wish I had that talent and eye to pick color for a chart and different fabric. Very jealous!! 😂 Going to watch that AI video now but wondering HAED hard copy patterns is that the same.take care❤
I saw your pics from market on IG and wasn't sure if you were tall or if the people you were with were tiny. Its so hard to tell online lol I hope you had the best time at market!
Your love bug finish is super sweet and I hope you have such a blast at Market! Thank you for the shout out, you are the nicest and the best and I’m glad you like Hannah, I was imagining you might do a color conversion to make her more raggedy Ann (I was also imagining you would hate her and think I was a creep, thanks social anxiety) How funny that’s your sister’s name!
Your love bugs finish looks great! I really love all the pinks on that one. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on AI! I'm glad more people are talking about it. I'm refraining from purchasing AI charts as well, until there's some better answers around it. My biggest issue with it right now is the tools that HAVE stolen from artists, and the lack of transparency with shops selling AI art. We'll see how this all goes - goodness know there's enough patterns to keep me busy in the meantime!
Have a great time at market - bet it’s awesome fun! Take care, Nic x. PS not a fan of AI art, done well and legitimately maybe but in my estimation most of it is neither
I have a HAED pattern that I’m going to stitch bc I have it. But not only is there the issue with AI, which as someone with an art degree I don’t appreciate, but they also have SEVERAL patterns named with the g* slur for Romani people. Which feels like more of a problem. Idk. I just don’t feel comfortable giving the company my money anymore.
I hope you had a fantastic time at market, very jealous but excited to hear your recap video. Interesting discussion on personal choices around AI and where you are happy to spend your money, made me reflect on the choices I have made. I know I have walked away from poor customer service before. Also, off topic but I am obsessed with your lipstick - it is perfect and looks amazing on you!
Thank you so much for speaking out on AI! I think it's really important for people to think critically about the ways in which AI generations are impacting real artists, and then decide for themselves where their morals align. As you said, I will also not be purchasing from HAED at this time. I know they have their AI stuff labelled as such now, but the way they handled complaints about unlabeled AI from concerned customers before this change really put a bad taste in my mouth. Again, thank you for sharing your thoughts ❤
I have also decided not to purchase from HAED in the future. I will stitch what I have, but I don’t think I want to support them anymore. Mainly due to them being kind of backwards about the whole AI Topic. From „we stand with real artists and will not chart AI“ to „oops, we charted multiple AI pieces but it was an accident, we didn’t know“ to then straight up changing their minds and charting AI. And also being quite snappy to people that are voicing concern or disappointment. They deleted their Instagram post after they were getting some negative comments, got people’s insta stories removed and so on. Questionable behavior
@@camthestitcher yep. I have been in their facebook group for a while and I’ve noticed a few instances where they’ve been rude to people that aren’t mindlessly loving everything they do and put out. But this topic and everything that happened really took the cake
This isn’t even the first time what they’ve gotten in hot water. They used to play that they hand charted everything but then it came out they use charting programs so I’m not shocked by the AI usage.
I refuse to purchase AI generated patterns. I will no longer purchase from designers who produce patterns from AI. I believe we should support HUMAN made art, which includes this hobby. To use AI to make art to sell feels disingenuous and disrespectful of the process it takes to make art. It feels so icky to me. I totally understand your opinion. It's definitely up to the individual to make that decision.
I would not be concerned buying from a company that sells AI art as long as they list where all artwork comes from with links. I would not buy the AI art from these businesses but would continue to purchase charts from licenced artist works as it still supports artists. If they do not clearly list that art is AI I would stay away from the whole company. I do not buy from etsy shops that do not list where every piece of art comes from individually for all the art. The problem is they do not have to obtain permission from artist currently to train AI and that is as wrong as the rampant direct priracy of artist works.
I hate how "ai" is forcing itself into everything art related, like crochet ai patterns are a thing now too. I'm so afraid of buying a pattern from an ai generator when I'd rather support a real artist. Also i hate how tech has called it artificial intelligence, when its really just a glorified search engine generator.
I agree with the not buying new HEAD patterns. I bought 2 Jasmine Becket Griffith charts over a year ago and I may get more just to have, but outside of charts that were already done, I won't be getting more. I think artists deserve to be paid and I think AI is cheating. This is just my opinion but I had to chime in.
Jasmine Becket Griffith charts are everywhere so you are in luck, HAED doesn't have an exclusive right to chart her art. That artist is everywhere and widely available in cross stitch, Happy Stitching!
