Train Store Walk Through Part 13 - Hobby Express Cranberry PA

- Hi train friends! On my 5 train store trip Jan 3rd I visited this last and fine stop of the day at one of my favorite local train stores in the Pittsburgh area, Hobby Express in Cranberry Twp, PA. I’ve been to this store countless times but I had done 2 other walk thru’s here and decided it’s been a while since I did one so it was time for an updated walk thru. The thing I love about this place is how well organized and stocked it is and you can see the locomotives in the glass cases. Also the store owner and employees are always very friendly and helpful! If you see anything you like give them a call or stop by the store and let them know you saw my video!
I travelled to 5 train stores on this trip today, and will upload a video each day this week of all the train shops I visited! Checkout the previous videos I recently posted.

After seeing Pats train store then this store, it just goes to show how far organization and proper displays make the shopping experience
I agree with that on an organized shop is important.
Yep exactly. Nothing against pat but this place is a fun experience and I’ve found myself going here allot to “see” locomotives, get ideas, and then make purchases.

Exactly Harry! You walk in this place and fell comfortable and it’s really nice to be able to see the top of the line locomotives in the cases. Everything is very well organized and this back area is only about 33% of the size of the entire store. They have allot of rc cars and other toys
So recently this place had a massive expansion in the train area a lot more room to walk and tons of sets, and more train casings!

I shop for HO trains for my grandson and O for my layout. Selection and prices are good, and the staff is always helpful.
They do have a really nice selection of HO scale items. Although I don’t model that scale myself it’s cool to look at.

It really is a great store. I try to stop by every time I am back in the city visiting my dad and sister’s family. They had a few locomotives that I had my eye on, though I have too much on preorder to make any new purchases right now.

Pat had a lot of inventory and it looked quite daunting but his inventory on the website is usually spot on even with only one item left. Which makes him a gold mine if you looking for something hard to find.

Nice store review and visit ! Surprise there was no pricing on the Williams / Bachmann Locomotives.
Funny, the store owner mentioned he didn’t sell many of those Williams locomotives over the Xmas holiday rush because of not unboxing them. And now you point out no prices. Maybe a good suggestion for futures sales! Thanks!
@@PghTrainFanatic Williams dont have all the Bells and whistles like MTH & Lionel. But nice product for someone on budget or just starting out.

Tony Williams engines are in the $220 - $250 range for most of them. (the price tags are on the side of the box. I'll work on fixing that)
Can you go back and cover their HO stuff?
I can try one day, it’s not exactly close to where I live. About a 40 min drive. I’m also not well versed in HO scale since I model O gauge that’s what I know best. I’m planned on doing a few more shops soon I’ll take a little more time to cover the N and HO items
I like shopping here but when I had to return an item the process didn't go over to well , I did get the refund but it wasn't a pleasant experience.
I understand as a customer but also as a business owner too so I’m sure they will listen to your feedback and do better next time. Thank you!

You have to remember this is a small business not a major corporation so if you return Somthing that’s damaged or open it’s probably really hard for them to either resell it or have it fixed by the manufacturer. They probably end up loosing money on that sale. Sometimes though as a customer you don’t have any other choice and it ends up in a crappy situation for both parties involved.
@@PghTrainFanatic i would not have complained but the items were not broken or taken out of the package , they also wanted to charge a restocking fee .I should have just walked away .

Looks like a nice Store. How far is it from Washington PA?
40 minutes north. GREAT store. Also big into R/C stuff and interesting toys for the kiddos.

Yeah straight up 79N and you’ll end up in cranberry pa about 30 mins north at least how I drive 😂😂😂

I visited their web site to find nothing mentioned about model railroading at all. Odd.
I noticed that as well. The store is really big and they have allot going on there with toys RC car and other hobbies. If they had a webmaster to expand more to online sales I bet they could do allot more business!
Our website is very much a work in progress. Someday it will better show all the things we have in the store. Though the train department might just get a link to Nick's video!
While the website has nothing about trains, except for the wooden trains... the Facebook page does. But don't live in Pennsylvania or the area, so would love to have a website to look. Love to help local hobby shops even if I don't live in the area
They told me the website is a well in progress. They probably could use some professional help

Lol they were! And in the order I posted them this week. I left at 7:30 am and got home at 5pm 😂
