@@ExocagedRC Since I went with the 3300KV AXE 550 I wanted more reduction so I decided to try the Under-drive rear first and keep the front stock! its amazing… It turns sharply and you can really feel the front pulling and more stable going downhill. I presume going full combo (OD/UD) its completely overkill on a TRX4.
I literally just installed the overdrive gears in my umg10 yesterday.. i was equally as impressed! In my case it made a HUGE difference on climbs with my short wheelbase. Helps keep that front end sucked down 👍 well worthwhile upgrade
amet319 really? I did that in the 4ws Grimlock 3 truck and don’t like them. The plan is to put stock gears in front and just put the od gears in the front of the Optimus 2 truck and see how they do.
Thanks Exocaged... When did these become available? I have always run OD or UD in my older "NON" 10.2 rigs, I waited and waited then tuned because these were not offered for 10.2, or the ascender for that matter for a long time. Traxxas had some ready shortly after release of the TRX so that's my go to vehcle. I want to build a 10.2 this year.
P F not sure how long they’ve been available but they are now. Mine are the Hot Racing brand and they run really good. There are links in the description to get a set of you want.
4yrs later….This might be a stupid ? But I don’t know so I’m gonna ask. So if the front has stock let’s say 29t 8t when you say over drive do you buy a gear with more teeth? And for the rear underdrive means less teeth?
Great video, Love the overdrive gear set , if you do the maths it works out 10%. just fitted an element gearbox to my 10ii so should be about 16% and with option gears just under 22%, hope to test it out this weekend.
Alan Read I just built an element transmission for video. For me it will go into a Redcat Gen7 with portals. Let me know how it goes into the axial please. I feel this trans will be a great option for many trucks.
Look forward to seeing that, I hope to try it out properly tomorrow on the axial, in the garden it turns really well now and squats a little as well, I will reply tomorrow evening. Keep up the good work
Great vid.. Just to verify, this will work for any SCX10II, not just the builder's kit version? I have a deadbolt, Honcho and Blazer I'd like to throw these in. And do you know what's the final ratio over the rear axles? Is it similar to the Enduro's stock 6% or 12% with included gears? I'm in South Fla, will have to do a road trip to check that place out..
What kind of servo horn r u running on this ? I recently got a 10ii and I find the clearance from the panhard mount and the bar itself doesnt allow a good size servo horn. Or much room in their. Yours looks like it has alot more room. Did u lift the servo up or ?
Kevin Gibbs I only have a few samples and one of them left. I’m working with the guy to get a bunch made. Once I get them made I’ll be able to mail them out to you guys
if the overheating started with the OD gears, then it may be working too hard, the thing about OD gears is they add a constant drag on the driveline. If you have the stock motor in it a brushless would turn it easy or maybe try a cheaper Holmes Hobby 21t Trailmaster Sport if brushless isn't needed.
Very informative video OD in front made a big difference keep up the good work on your videos.
They help a lot on steep declines too, because the front wheels pulling faster keeps the rear from coming over.
- What Ring Gear and Pinion are you installing !!???
...How many teeth on each !?? - Thankyou EXO !!!
👍😁🤘 💪🇺🇸
You can see the difference in the overdrive gears it just pulls its self over the opticles....keep up great content....
I love my rear Under-drive setup on the TRX4!
skirmich I did od/ud in the 4ws Grimlock 3 but don’t like it. Should have the video up Monday. I’ll try the OD in the front of Optimus 2 soon.

@@ExocagedRC sounds good. 💪👌
Just awesome Sir.
Impressive results!
I've done the same to my scx10ii and what a difference 👍, just waiting on a set for my trx4.

Alvin Marin yes any 10.2. I had to buy the spool because it was the builders kit. With your trucks you may not need the additional spool

it now has a servo on axle setup on it but in this video was a generic horn that I shaved the backside off off and bent just a little
@@ExocagedRC yea I'm thinking the 4 link maybe the way to go on it
@@nsrc2870 yeah it sure was, I put that on and have never even considered going back
Great video!!

Awesome 🤙
Yes nice turn with that overdrive them turns are very important in competition
Can you overdrive the front and underdrive the rear to get more over drive
The install went flawless, just like you explained. Do you have any plans to under-drive the rear or is anything even available ?
Alvin Marin I don’t think there are underdrive gears available for it.
Vanquish offers an underdrive (33t/8t) for the rear that is still 10% under driven.
Boom racing offers one now and its on point
Where can I get overdrive gears for the Ventura ascender
Seed of Jacob I don’t think they make od gears for that truck sorry
I noticed it right away on my EnDuro SenDero. I really like it so far!! . Sweet video. Nice crawl 👍✔👍 NC MOUNTAINS ❤..
ABW 77 23 I just build a Senduro transmission. For a different truck, the trans is really nice.
@@ExocagedRC looking forward to... Going to be turned in!! NC,❤
Great video man! I installed OD on my son's axial wraith. I am having a problem with the motor over heating. Any suggestions?

@@ExocagedRC thank you for the info. I will see what can come up with.
No side hill test?
I may have to try that but this truck is so light I doubt it would make a difference,
Okay now that is an scx10 2 right,do they make the over drive gears for the scx10👍👍
yes, for the old scx they may over and under, only over is available as far as I know for the 10.2.
Where did you get the spool? Maybe I over looked it ?
Zachary Perry good catch. I just added a link for it in the description. Also here from amazon www.amazon.com/dp/B01JGZY17M/?tag=exocaged01-20
@@ExocagedRC thanks I definitely will be installing on my builders kit scx10ii
awesome video great info earned a sub out of me
Guess whos getting OD gears lol
