  • The moment is here. Presenting our #TAVSpec Stage 2 Toyota Tundra walk-around where Walt gives an in-depth look at this rugged platform and the equipment we use to make the truck an all-inclusive expedition rig. With lighting from Baja Designs, armor by Expedition One, and long travel suspension from Total Chaos, the truck feels just at home in Moab as it does in its home state of New Jersey.

    Best walk around I've seen on Tundra builds. I purchased my 2018 Tundra SR5 after trading my 2016 JK Rubicon. I ran TOYO 37" MT. I like the idea of replacing fender flares and keeping low as possible. it seems like many people are more about height and less about function. Great Job.

    Hello Team TAV Spec!
    I noticed that this video is older, but I just purchased a 2008 Toyota Tundra SR5! She is a beauty, and I am loving this build/showcase!
    So much so that I may just imitate it! So I must ask, what size wheels and tire combo are you running to achieve the 37", while still maintaining that "poke" style (wheel offset and width, etc)?

    • @TAVLLC
      @TAVLLC  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      while we usually run a 0 offset, the functionality of our builds is the entire system that we have tested and validated.

    • @nicholaskeomanivong8932
      @nicholaskeomanivong8932 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The truck definitely is functional! Do you guys remember the wheel specs at all along with the tire specs?

    • @TAVLLC
      @TAVLLC  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I don't remember the wheel dimensions off the top of my head. It's a Hutchinson rock monster wheel in a 17" diameter. The tire is a 37'x12.5 r17 Toyo open country RT.@@nicholaskeomanivong8932

    That tundra is dope, I just got a 12 tundra and had he toy dealer put a 3 in fr and rear toytech boss lift on it and I’m still running the stock 285/75/r15 tires cause it looks proper but I am wondering if I bumped up the tire size to 305 or 315. Would I need to change the gearing to preserve the life of the drivetrain? Thanks in advance and I hope I won’t regret sending my truck to you first!!!!

    TAV, on the king setup how does it fair in the winter? I’ve been looking into OME by ARB, and I have seen some negative comments about cold weather driving. Thanks in advance! Great truck and beautifully built! If I had the cash flow I’d have you build one for me.

    • @TAVLLC
      @TAVLLC  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just for fun not sure what you could have heard about King’s and winter driving that would be a negative. I would check the credibility of the source of that information. I’ve been running King’s for longer than I can remember and as I type this we are in a snow storm. The Kings are fine. I won’t run anything else at this point. I would take them anywhere on the planet.

    • @TAVLLC
      @TAVLLC  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just for fun I just reread your question. I still don’t know why there would be a negative effect on the OME setup in the winter.

    What’s your opinion on the 700lb spring rate vs the 600lb? Is 700 too much that I’ll get a stiffer ride?

    • @TAVLLC
      @TAVLLC  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on what you'll be doing with the truck and how much weight it'll see. You don't have to preload the spring as much to get the desired lift hight. If it will have a heavy load in the rear I normally run the 700 up front. What you do in the back of the truck effects the front. If the truck sits level it is transferring some of the weight forward putting more weight on the front suspension. Especially when stopping the truck. You want your springs in the front to be able to support that weight. It also helps with body roll. That's why I don't run sway bars in the front of the long travel trucks.

    What’s the range? I’m wondering if a truck like this gets more range than my lifted 4Runner. I get 14mpg with a 23 gal tank so about 310ish miles between refuels (322 theoretical max).
