I'm going through a burnout right now, and I found that the reason for it is because I've started looking at my backlog as a to-do list and choose to play the games based on how long it takes to beat just so I can tick it off instead of buying and playing that one game I'm ACTUALLY interested in in the moment. I need to learn how to just enjoy what I'm doing, and to not be afraid to drop a game if it gets boring rather than forcing myself to push through it just for the sake completing that list.
I just stare at the screen choose a game, play it then not a minute passes by i just lose the will to play it, like i just woke up and i feel tired already and stop playing, nothing feels like the first time ive played the game.
Sometimes I feel like I HAVE to play the games in my backlog but I just want to play minecraft or something. I just have to tell myself that as long as I'm having fun I'm gaming correctly.
Last year I had a game burnt out moment and found a game called Inside. It’s a good story very simple controls. I felt great after playing and finishing the story.
Inside is a great sit back and relax game while also keeping you engaged.... great recommendation, I agree this is a good one to reset and get through your burnout.
@@PositiveGamer hell nah. i bought this game today, because of your recommendation, and wanted to relax and now i’m going to have fcking nightmares. my god, do not buy this game, if you want to relax…
I'm kind of in the same place. What I'm trying right now is to just accept whatever I'm feeling. I sometimes find it more pleasing to just sit and stare at a wall rather than playing games, and I embrace it. After a whole day like that I tend to feel like I have more energy the next day. Going to the gym is also good advice. Just take it slowly, and focus on what actually makes you feel better, instead of what you think *should* make you feel better.
Might be a strange tip but sometimes watching a video can help me gain motivation for games back. Watching a multiplayer compilation for my favorite game get me fucking hyped up its unbelievable. Also sometimes when I feel like none of the games I own currently appease to me I just watch a let’s play for a game that I’ve never played but wanted to. It’s free to watch someone else play the game aline. I usually do this with horror games so I don’t have to put my self through the direct torture of all the jump scares.
These are all great ideas! I usually quit entirely for a couple of months and that seems to help, but right now I'm in the worst funk of my life and it's lasted the longest so I'm always open for more ideas. Thanks for the video!
this was so needed - i've been working non stop full time and if im not working im grinding my side hustle... then when i get home and want to play anything I just turn on the console or pc and end up watching anime til i sleep and wake up again for the grind but your tip about switching it up is so true - i've been so busy and isolated and keep playing single player games that i forget how fun it is to play multiplayer with the homies maybe that's what ill do
Hi! Thank you for creating this Video. I am someone who struggles with balancing life and being a gamer. I believe in positive gaming too. My goal is to create healthy positive balance with video games and my life. I look forward to learning more from you. Gratitude dude 👍🏽
Great tips xone! Sometimes when I am burned out of gaming I buy a new game or play a new game and that usually works for me, but yeah sometime I do get burned out and I just play casual games for a week streat and have to tell my buddies I am burned out let's play next week
Thank you so much! I've been experiencing gaming burnout in a game that I valued so much since it's release. I didn't want to quit but I didn't want to do something I wasn't enjoying too much anymore. This video made me motivated to start playing again so thanks a lot man.
I had the same thing after 20 years of gaming. I got into VR and it was like playing games for the first time. "The Forest" was so damn fun (and scary) in VR it was a whole new world.
Many thanks, Positive Gamer for providing some of the solutions as well as pointing out the issue of gaming burnout as I went through the gaming burnout during my stream in Wowsb. Oddly enough, this situation had just overwhelmed me today and this situation has created some depressing thoughts in the process. Speechless as I am at the moment because of what just happened; exploring other games is something to consider and I look forward to seeing more of these gamer issues being addressed in the near future! Keep up the good work and I wish you continued success!
I’m one of those players who focus on grindy games like Warframe and Destiny 2. Especially Warframe after putting 6K+ Hours in Missions for 3+ years of logging into the Game and reaching that burn out phase. Mentioning more calm games is a good point since i also have portal games to play for a slower paced type of play over running & gunning down enemies as fast as i want for hours straight.
Thank you for this video I've been playing 2k and madden and NHL since I was a kid a long with elder scrolls and several RPG'S. My problem was I've been gaming alone and this video reminded me of how much I enjoyed multiplayer games so I hopped back in and now I'm eager to play all the time I got so tired of call of duty for years that now after returning it's actually kinda fun
I’ve gotten out of MMORPGs as they’ve always made me feel like I “had” to play because I was paying monthly. I’m trying to switch it up with games. This is an amazing video because I’ve sat and stared at my screen feeling frustrated. Purchasing new games doesn’t help the situation either, had to tell myself I have enough to play already.

The most underrated channel ive come across this year, thank you for this video its helped me get back into my favorite games after watching this and a few hours after of following steps!
Wow thanks so much for this advice, I have been having a burnout myself recently and I mostly play destiny. I reinstalled Minecraft as a relaxation method. I can always sit back and relax too. Thanks.
For quite some time I just wasn't fully into some of the games I played. I've been going into games with the mindset that I'm not going to enjoy them after a couple of hours, even though I don't have a problem with the games. I've experienced burnout in the past, and at that time I would enjoy a game for the first few sessions I played them, and then my brain would do a complete 180 and decide that I won't enjoy it anymore. I hate that feeling because as I said I don't have a problem with the games themselves unless, of course, something in the game isn't actually good or interesting, but most of the games I play have an interesting mix of storyline and gameplay. The thing is I've learned from that initial burnout to limit how long I play a game, usually 2 hours, and then do something else. But even with that, recently the thoughts creep in every time I try a new game.
It's such a strange thing. Don't know why but I never considered burn out a thing to happen for games. I mean, it does make a lot of sense considering I have been gaming for a little of half my life to this point. The burn out out I'm facing though is general game burn out. It could have something to do with a general feeling of being aimless or the fact that over the past two years I did start to really get into Splatoon 2 of all things. I haven't touched it in like a month. Part of that is due to a recent surgery though... 1,400+ hours of gameplay and most of that has been in the time I seriously got into it. Which I did start to take competitively. Again though it's a general burn out where I don't feel like playing anything even when I do start a game up it doesn't stay on for that long. Then again this could be related to some strong feelings of apathy I've got at the moment. Which have been present for a while. Ah well just gotta figure it out and keep moving. What else can we do
I still enjoy playing video games as I did before but I can't seem to game for hours like before. Even if it's my favorite game or I try new games I just cannot seem to play more than 2 hours straight until I get so burned out.
I just don’t enjoy games I tried everything I just want to lazily watch shows and that’s it not work my brain just sit and enjoy something unfolding without any interaction from me
I'm a huge tryhard in multiplayer games especially siege and war thunder which are really hard sometimes and it looks like I'm right to switch to single player games sometimes it's so chill. I'm currently enjoying cyberpunk 2077 and it's so chill to immerse myself in it's universe and learn about it. Another game I play to relax from multiplayer hardcore stuff is GTA online because I go in a solo server and grind money and in doing that I just mindlessly farm and chill
I’ve been going hard playing Bless unleashed and Dead By Daylight the last few weeks and have gotta burnt out after hundreds of hours of playing. Thank you for this, I decided to just take a break for a day or two.
It’s pissing me off, I just got a new high tier PC and I’m just not feeling it when I sit in the game. I’m like sitting in the game menu and just “ahh maybe I’m gonna warm up with some PvE” or “should I play ranked and see if it will come back, maybe I just need to play some more”. But no I’m just not in the mood to play my favorite fps game. And when I play I feel like I’m playing super bad I’m losing, I’m going down in ranks, I just feel shit and I don’t feel like competing in the same way I wanted to before. When I was young I would never get burnouts I would just play every day all day as soon as I got back from school and I would play like that for 3-4 years. Now ehhh burnout every 3 months or so then only works when I take 1-2 month break. Just a bit upsetting
Within the past 3 or 4 days I've been able to play games after a long time. Older games sure but a game nethertheless. A very satisfying moment for me 😍
Same. I want to play minecraft and build amazing things, but after a few minutes I get so bored and just close the game. Then I just scroll TH-cam in search for something to play, finding nothing in the end. I think its because of quaratine, playing games all day will eventually lead to a burn out....
@@braddles8684 now I don't have much time playing games, usually on weekends I try to play many hours but after 1 hours I'm done, mainly because I am tired. 1 month ago I was in vacation so I guess that's why i got burnt out
The reason why I had gaming burnout is I recently read an update wherein my favorite game will reach its end. Thus, I feel bad knowing that I got so attached with the characters. And after all that grind, it will all come to an end.
Idk man I just don’t eat excitement when hearing one of my old favorite games come out even when it does come out and it’s good I just don’t feel anything. I play a lot of PlayStation exclusive games or story games. God of War 4 was the last game I was excited for and play everything was great about it and I really want to replay it for the 5th time but the last time I replayed a game a lot that I love was Spider-Man ps4. I played it like at least 12 times and I don’t get excited about that game and I don’t want that feel to come to god of war but at the same time I’m not excited for the next god of war either I just know the game will come and I’ll have to wait years for the next one even tho I love most of the PlayStation exclusive.
i played 1600 hours on rust ... and i got burnt out so hard i have not played a wipe in like 2 years ! i got tired of games i cant find why but i think you first point make a lot of sense
Currently: wanting to stream for fun, mostly games with friends or solo Nintendo stuff. Also, I have a special needs toddler and a new born who is perfectly healthy. Job isn’t too bad, a lot of hours, but meh, I’ve been there 7 years and I’ve been feeling a burn out just now.
Yes, lately to much... After ending the last good game I just don't know what to play. Everything is just a bit dull. I know I could turn to that one game I already played for over 2500 hours and still love it like the first time I have seen it but it will take me a few days to get back into. To get back into the mood and flow.
Thanks man, this is the first video of your channel that I see and it's useful. Also I could understand what you say even if I don't know English very well!
It's different for everyone for sure. I dont know what to watch & play I even turned to anime but that lasted about a month and now I'm stuck. I hate these story games they frustrate me. I like the grind in any game, apex, MW these games I'm done with but I can't keep spending 40-60£ on games that will give me joy for a week. Remnant from the ashes was fun but now that I go every item in the game I can't play it no more. Good job on the vid👍
Two minutes into the video and I'm already Burnout by listening to the word Burnout before I could actually hope How to get to the topic of solving the burnout
Ye, its happening to me rn, I was playing ranked COD last night, I wasn’t hitting a single shot, holy shit, it feels tough, I always practice at least 25 mins a day if not even 45 mins or 1 hour doing training drills and all that stuff, usually my aim its amazing, I hit every single shot, I have great movement, but yesterday all of the sudden, my hands were sweating, my aim was awful, I felt like I couldn’t move in the game that I’ve been playing for almost 1000 hours, I felt off, as if I was deteriorating my skills to the point that I felt like a complete noob, literally I wasn’t thinking right, now today, I feel the same way, Im going to practice as usual but something def feels off, maybe Im experiencing a burnout too
lol I frequently get on and just look at my games for about 40 mins then just get off. Sometimes I will have a week or two maybe three where I am going hard on a game and then I just lose the want to play it but it usually comes back later on, the obvious thing is to not play the game so much and so often for too long, it makes you bored. One game I really like relaxing to is stardew valley. It’s a very fun game.
one thing i like to do to take a step back, I like to work on my drawing. I have alot of times where i turn on my console/pc, and just sit there and browse my library. heck ill even just brows the store and nothing really catches my eye. I am one of the huge story line gamers, i enjoy a game with an indepth story line that you can just get lost in. Lately i have been feeling the burnout though with Elder scrolls online. I still get on daily to do the writs and get my daily log in bonus, but its been only for a few min, so im trying to reset my interest in the game.
I found I got too obsessed with trying to get trophies and that made me burn out for a little why and now I play games for fun again and not for achievements or trophies.
The reason why I don't play one game consistently is because I'm afraid I'll suffer from game burnout. Playing my electric guitar always soothes my mind and relaxes me. The amount of stress I get from valorant comp is that everybody gets serious and always wants to win. Thought it was about fun but I guess not lol
I've been burnt out a few times in the past, currently feeling burnt out again, just found ur video and I think u have some awesome tips, i always try to complete games for that reward satisfaction but I think that's the wrong approach right now, instead I'm gonna jump on The Crew 2 and just drive around and take in the scenery, "stop and smell the flowers" if u will
In the past I play almost 4-6h during work days, and on my off days, its could be more than 8-10h, esports, single player campaign, I try everything I could. Until I hit the wall on that 1 day, Idk where the feeling came from, suddenly I just had no feeling to play any games anymore. I force myself to this games, that games but the feeling its not there anymore. So I decided to take a break for a while. You know what happened next? Now, I can say I already retired from gaming. I changed my gaming time to me time doing healthy routine, sometimes I do jog, cycling, climbing and at night before sleep, just movies. And the days went better for me if compare me with PC.
I’ve found I always get burnt out in games that people hype up to the point where I expect the game the be rlly good like- gta, back4blood, forza horizons games in general etc
A few things lol having to many games is one lol its kinda like how you go onto netflix and you cant decide what to watch lol and being a father is one , by the time my daughter goes to bed i sit down and start playing i start falling asleep 😂
I remember a couple of years ago I kind of got an idea to try and beat a game every day and post a new game on my TH-cam channel everyday but after about 12 hors of playing and editing I think it was Broken Sword The Shadow Of The Templars. I had real trouble sleeping I could still literally see the game playing in my head so I had to take a few days off from gaming just to reset my brain. Probably more of gaming overdose than burnout. But last week I looked at games on my PC and couldn't be bothered to play anything been doing a lot of larger games lately like Alice The Madness Returns. So I ended up playing a few small Demo games which seemed to help.
Man, his happens often for me with no only games but with movies as well. I just don't know what to look for and spend my time on when I have some free time. I was recently laid off from my job and this must be the cause but I think it's loneliness.
I play alotta genshin and I just don't feel like playing rn. Idk why since it's my favourite game. I don't like missing daily logins and stuff yk cuz I lose alot. I stopped playing pokemon for do long and eventually don't play anymore. I don't wanna do that again
minecraft, animal crossing and stardew valley gives me insane anxiety. i feel like shit playing those games even though its the games ive played the most.
Im having a hard time with the friends part. I have friends but they dont play the same games that i do. I play with them sometimes but the game they play, im not always enjoying it.
For me i got a ps 3 on my birthday and that things i did already play a ton of games from there i play so much and now i just realize i am having a burnout and i really want to play the game that was available on ps 4 there is a lot of games that i want to play on ps 4 but i can't buy it yet so now i am taking a break for gaming until i got my ps 4 lol
I have an issue of trying to complete every game 100% perfectly/best ending. I felt really bad when I kept replaying same special stage in Sonic Mania bcs no matter how many times I tried replaying it I still failed...
I think my problem is that I have too many games in backlog and I just got burned out. I just finished a game the night before last and now trying to decide what to play next. This usually involves starting the game I picked and still quit after a few minutes or worse just not come back it it anymore after that night. Probably take a few days away from games but I still want to play them even now but I just can't handle it. I think I need to go through shorter games as well because GTAV took three weeks for example and by then as much as I like it I want to move onto something else. That said I am feeling like going back to Final Fantasy 14 but eh I just don't want spend the $15 to renew the subscription right now even though the money is not an issue.
Thanks XONE. I think I just need to put my controller/mouse down for a bit and do something else. I'm in my 30s with 2 kids and happily married, but I'm a full time college student so life gets busy, and I feel like my free time should only be gaming, but maybe that's why I feel burned out.
I am burnt out of minecraft Minecraft is my favorite game for a long time now i play minecraft for over 10 years and i never had a burn out before like never until now
I need some advice A coupled months ago I have been really invested in cod multi and apex legends. I have been playing them none stop. Then I transferred to pc and my love for both of the games grew but it only lasted a couple of weeks. Due to me transferring to pc I’ve had to play alone due to all my friends still being on console And every time I try to play these games I’ve just been playing for 45 mins max. I tried everything like changing games taking breaks changing my guns/skins so I can try something new But it’s not working i don’t know why
video gaming burnout is : lack of desire to play any video games, you want to play video games, but you sit down and watch this video on youtube.
yep
Indeed. Passive consumption for a tired mind.
Pretty much somes it up
Oh I thought its when you get tired because of playing video games
Facts I literally just upgraded my pc and now I don’t want to play.

Is it weird that it makes me feel better just knowing I'm not alone even if I just have to face it and take a break?... also gonna go try sims again

When I was young I would never get burnouts I would just play every day all day as soon as I got back from school and I would play like that for 3-4 years. Now ehhh burnout every 3 months or so then only works when I take 1-2 month break. Just a bit upsetting
You just explained my life for the past several years
Within the past 3 or 4 days I've been able to play games after a long time. Older games sure but a game nethertheless. A very satisfying moment for me 😍
I've been burnt out by minecraft for the last 3 months after playing it straight after the nether update😂
Whenever I launch Minecraft or Terraria my whole body just says to my self that I should exit the game...
Same. I want to play minecraft and build amazing things, but after a few minutes I get so bored and just close the game. Then I just scroll TH-cam in search for something to play, finding nothing in the end. I think its because of quaratine, playing games all day will eventually lead to a burn out....
@@aLcAty has it gotten any better? I feel it now
@@braddles8684 now I don't have much time playing games, usually on weekends I try to play many hours but after 1 hours I'm done, mainly because I am tired. 1 month ago I was in vacation so I guess that's why i got burnt out
Me but with Skyrim
same
The reason why I had gaming burnout is I recently read an update wherein my favorite game will reach its end. Thus, I feel bad knowing that I got so attached with the characters. And after all that grind, it will all come to an end.
I know what it’s like. I loved Friday the 13th. Then, it just ended.
I played it like at least 12 times and I don’t get excited about that game and I don’t want that feel to come to god of war but at the same time I’m not excited for the next god of war either I just know the game will come and I’ll have to wait years for the next one even tho I love most of the PlayStation exclusive.
the fact he showed animal crossing my favorite game on Nintendo showswhat a real dude he is.
i played 1600 hours on rust ... and i got burnt out so hard i have not played a wipe in like 2 years ! i got tired of games i cant find why but i think you first point make a lot of sense
I think im getting burnt out recently in competitive games because i keep dying and losing to dumb reasons
Stardew Valley always helps me when I'm burnt out
Unfortunately I'm burnt out on Stardew Valley. Literally don't know what to do...
one thing i like to do to take a step back, I like to work on my drawing.
I've been burnt out a few times in the past, currently feeling burnt out again, just found ur video and I think u have some awesome tips, i always try to complete games for that reward satisfaction but I think that's the wrong approach right now, instead I'm gonna jump on The Crew 2 and just drive around and take in the scenery, "stop and smell the flowers" if u will
just wanna say this video is really good quality and i was a bit shocked with how little subs you have! keep it up fam!
dark souls/elden ring chills me all day
In the past I play almost 4-6h during work days, and on my off days, its could be more than 8-10h, esports, single player campaign, I try everything I could.
Great tips! I’m definitely feeling gaming burnout lately. 😩
I’ve found I always get burnt out in games that people hype up to the point where I expect the game the be rlly good like- gta, back4blood, forza horizons games in general etc
“If you’re here cuz of something like destiny”
Vro that’s exactly why I’m here XD
My burnout came from stepping out of gaming, I had so much to do in my personal life that I didn't have time for gaming. What do I do then?
I’ve felt this way with ark moble wich I play but it’s hard to quit when I have spent lots of money in the official servers
At this point in time, I turn on my PC, I just go straight to watching 30 mins of youtube then shut it down again
Ayo this guy needs more subs
i remember i just randomly sit at my pc desktop for a bit, then realize and go play something
Gaming doesn't scratch your itch of escapism if you never leave your house like lots of us are doing right now...
I’m currently sick and not wanting to do anything I like including gaming and I’m getting scared that I won’t like games anymore
I played the last of us 1 and 2 so many times i want to play then again and again
But i cant
Im planning to go play batman arkham asylum
I am a paranoid schizophrenic that has stress issues kick in for no reason why do I do about my burnout
Man, his happens often for me with no only games but with movies as well. I just don't know what to look for and spend my time on when I have some free time.
I was recently laid off from my job and this must be the cause but I think it's loneliness.
really helps and i like all the games that gets you out of the burnout
I play alotta genshin and I just don't feel like playing rn. Idk why since it's my favourite game. I don't like missing daily logins and stuff yk cuz I lose alot. I stopped playing pokemon for do long and eventually don't play anymore. I don't wanna do that again
minecraft, animal crossing and stardew valley gives me insane anxiety. i feel like shit playing those games even though its the games ive played the most.
Very awesome to stumble across your content! Thanks for the tips.
Thank you!
I really needed this
Me to my console: WE WERE ON A BREAK!
6:34 lol im trying to get back into games because im burned out from my instrument
Thank you! Very good video, very well said.
Thanks for this video very helpful I didn’t know i had one till recently
Im having a hard time with the friends part. I have friends but they dont play the same games that i do. I play with them sometimes but the game they play, im not always enjoying it.
I always way overThink about optimizing weapons
For me i got a ps 3 on my birthday and that things i did already play a ton of games from there i play so much and now i just realize i am having a burnout and i really want to play the game that was available on ps 4 there is a lot of games that i want to play on ps 4 but i can't buy it yet so now i am taking a break for gaming until i got my ps 4 lol
I have an issue of trying to complete every game 100% perfectly/best ending. I felt really bad when I kept replaying same special stage in Sonic Mania bcs no matter how many times I tried replaying it I still failed...
thnx bro. Im actually going through this these days. thnx for ur advice. its very nice
Why don't you have a million subs, you will, good video keep it up
When I feel gaming burnout, I stare at my homescreen, thoughtless. Then after about an hour, I shut it down. Thoughtlessly
Thanks XONE. I think I just need to put my controller/mouse down for a bit and do something else. I'm in my 30s with 2 kids and happily married, but I'm a full time college student so life gets busy, and I feel like my free time should only be gaming, but maybe that's why I feel burned out.
I’ve had to take a step back as well before, it’s real.
Last septemper i burned out on a game called guardian tales and its really grindy
This video is soooooo relatable
I have burnout for sure, but I can't find these 'autopilot' games to play to try and overcome it. Every single player game I look at looks awful.
Am extremely burnout and I only play call of duty and grinding the battle pass and trying hard and now I don't even want to touch my console
I counterbalance Destiny 2 with No Man's Sky; they work well together.
I just have trouble choosing what to play.
I'm in a burn out in gaming cause I can't catch up with my enemies, theyre too strong and I'm on a lose streak
Tried doing other stuff, didn't enjoy it either, it seems like it's not gaming burnout, I'm just bored of everything...
I am burnt out of minecraft
Minecraft is my favorite game for a long time now i play minecraft for over 10 years and i never had a burn out before like never until now
Yeah i enjoy games but i just dont feel like it i just watch netflix or something on the end
I need some advice
A coupled months ago I have been really invested in cod multi and apex legends. I have been playing them none stop. Then I transferred to pc and my love for both of the games grew but it only lasted a couple of weeks.
Due to me transferring to pc I’ve had to play alone due to all my friends still being on console
And every time I try to play these games I’ve just been playing for 45 mins max.
I tried everything like changing games taking breaks changing my guns/skins so I can try something new
But it’s not working i don’t know why
