Very useful video! Got an e34 touring with the hatch wiring that needs to be done. I will order the same product from Schmiedmann. Thank you very much!
If you are planning on doing this yourself I would recommend using a standard connector 10/12 pin so that when the wiring inevitably fails in 10 years you can just wire up a 30 cm section with the female pin on both ends and plug it straight in where the break is.
@@ClassicWrenching Apologies - question - the left side harness has 3 red wires - 1 thinner than the other 2. There are no markings on the 2 thicker red wires to differentiate them. On your video i seem to see a red/grey wire? Do you recall any differences in these 2 red wires?
@@sierrapapa1711 There's no difference as they are both red. I used a multimeter to identify the wires in each end. I just didn't use the clip in the video.
@@ClassicWrenching excellent - i'm just waiting on a decent crimper to arrive, then it's game on 😊 I'm hoping it may fix 3 of my in-op windows. I hear clicks in each door when the switches are pressed, but only one moves.
If it doesn't open, you can try two other things. Try holding the glas down while you press the button (has worked for me). Might have to try a couple of times before you see the glas releases. Or try to clean the lock ( one of my touring had rust debries inside the "button" for the glas. You could also get dissasemble the boot interior to get more access to the lock mechanism.

Good video 👍 and nice product from Schmiedmann, had no idea this even existed, will definitely have to do this on mine!
Thanks! Yeah it worked great and it’s so nice to open the hatch without needing the key to unlock😁
Nice vid, just bought the same kit. I was going to get someone to fit it but after watching yours, I may attempt it myself. Thank you
Thanks! Happy I could help
