- As I have journeyed through my time of standing for marriage restoration I have learned so much! My heart's desire is to share those lessons the Lord has taught me with you. My hope is that you will feel encouraged and grow in your faith as you continue your stand and know that you are not alone. God's ways are always the best ways and may His perfect will be your portion.

So far 5 years that God has been working on me. My heart has completely changed towards Him and towards my prodigal wife, including offloading of habitual sin in me.
2 years after my wife left I came to realise that I loved God and my wife even more intensely and that is without her being there. That is part of what God did within me.
Regarding free will, the Holy Spirit showed that free will is from the heart and it is the heart that God changes. To say that the creator of the universe can't change his children's hearts, is ridiculous, very limiting beliefs
Yes it’s amazing to see how God uses these trials to change us! And yes changing a man’s heart is easy for Him!!

My wife left 5 years ago and alienated me from my adult children after the death of her sister. I pressed into God and know I'm to stand. It's not easy and I miss my children more than ever

Thank you for your insight, Jamie! I’ve been divorced close to 2 years and she has remarried. (Her wedding to her second husband occurred in December of 2023.) I made many mistakes in our marriage and ended up pushing her out of the relationship.
My oldest daughter truly believes that I have under gone a heart change because of Jesus, and I still believe that the woman I married is my covenant spouse. I love her dearly, but admittedly, I don’t know what God’s plan is for our future, especially since she is now married to another person.
I am thankful that you are challenging us to do good and show compassion not primarily to convince our spouse to return to the marriage, but for the sake of honoring Jesus. The challenge of course is that we sometimes fall into such great despair over the loss of our spouse that we forget that only Jesus can truly draw our spouse back to himself (and us) and restore the marital relationship. Still, I appreciate your emphasis on how we need to BECOME the spouse that Jesus intended us to be all along, for if they do decide to return, the second marriage will look COMPLETELY different than the first one did because we have now truly decided to put Jesus at the center of the relationship.

Marriage is Almighty God's covenant, reflecting Christ Jesus and His church.
Does the Bride of Christ (the church) lose its stature and worthiness of Christ Jesus's love?
Unconditional love has no qualifying degrees.
When the prodigal son repented, did he forfeit his sonship?
The proof is that in the Old Testament, adulterers were stoned, not divorced.
1 Corinthians 7:10-11
To the married I give this charge (not I, but the Lord):
the wife should not separate from her husband
(But if she does, she should remain unmarried or else be reconciled to her husband),
and the husband should not divorce his wife.
Clearly, spouses do not lose their marital status.
If the wife must be reconciled, then the husband must accept her as the wife..
Marriage is God's Will to reflect His Glory.
Be encouraged and stand for your covenant wife.
She is bone of your bone and flesh of your flesh.
Therefore, ask Almighty God to remove the stench of divorce and abomination of adultery from your life and circumstance Amen.
Keep your eyes on Jesus! It may take time but he is faithful and can restore you even if she’s repaired. There are lots of testimonies of second marriages falling apart and then spouses returning. Work on yourself during this time so that when god turns her heart toward home you are that new man for God’s glory!
@@antoinettebranellec5374 Thank you so much for encouraging me to continue standing for my spouse who has chosen to leave our marriage. I agree with you that marriage is a sacred covenant; I am still married to her in the eyes of God, regardless of what the divorce papers say.
I also very much agree with you that God always accepted Israel whenever she turned from her adulterous ways and turned back to him. This is the same posture that I want to take towards my wife, although of course it is only God who can convict her, reconcile her back to himself, and restore our marriage.

I also appreciate how you speak of free will…. The idea of how “a man plans his steps”, but this in no way means that God cannot influence and change their hearts so that they decide to return to Him and their former spouse. To add to that, I really like how you emphasize that, as the standing spouse, it is OUR job that our hearts are in the right place with God, so that when God does direct our wayward spouses home, we are ready to receive them and begin a “new” marriage with them. 😊

Yes, indeed. The myth of free will comes from French, German, and British Enlightenment from the 18th century. Rousseau, Voltaire, Descartes, Hobbes, Hume, Kant, and Adam Smith founded the conception of free will. This myth is living throughout the 20th and 21st centuries in woke culture, feminism, political liberalism, and LMBTQ ideologies. You have the power to decide how you feel, act, desire, manage your speech, money, sexual identity. In better cases, they say your freedom is bounded by other's.
Yes, these conceptions of personal freedom are false. Not the freedom, but the delusion of freedom. Every freedom without God is necessary delusional. The mankind is not able to befree themselves. All dark sides of all revolutions (industrial, Bolsevic, or French) point to this in history.

What are you thoughts on letting the spouse know you want to be with them? Do you think it’s wise or it’s getting in Gods way? Part of me says tell him and another part says leave it with God. Any counsel and wisdom from you would be appreciated.

God can do ANYTHING he wants he is GOD, he gives us FREE WILL so that our love for him is genuine just like we as humans desire genuine love but sometimes we try to force others to love us
That sounds great on the surface but you've unintentionally placed free will above God and His decree, even His free will.
Don't you agree that God's love and presence is so powerful that if/when He places that love on an individual sinner and calls them by name, they can do nothing BUT LOVE Him? "We love because He first loved us" (we/us believers, not the world in general)
