"Un-met needs". I knew this before I watched the video. I can't believe they truly understand the dynamics of hardened hearts. But if anyone should understand the hardening of a heart, it should be a married couple where all the systems of a heart lay beneath a microscope for all to see. One does not have to apply this to a marriage. It can be applied to the world at large. Make sure it is not YOU who has the hard heart. This couple talks about the two-way dynamics. Unless this is a case of domestic abuse, the question ought to be, why is she filing for a divorce. Where does she believe the breech is in the contract of your vows. Or were there no vows. Was it not for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health. To protect and to honor. Or was the marriage just built on shifting sand. Best wishes for you and yours. A family is a terrible thing to lose and even a worse thing to chuck aside. No one looks for the ring that lost its stone, the look for the lost stone.
People’s hearts usually harden for reasons. If an injury or offense is not amended, trouble is bound to come. Helping the other party break free of a hardened heart requires acknowledging injuries we have caused, accidental or otherwise, and asking to be forgiven. Hardness often covers and obscures some kind of injury.

Meeting needs is pivotal. For me words and phrases like "Be Kind", "unconditional love" etc are red flags for anyone who may be a co-dependent. I am half way through the video and hope there is a distinction drawn out here. It appears to me that we are a nation of co-dependents. We dont even know where our own national boundaries lay. Co-dependents, if they unlearn this behaviour are prone to a hardening of hearts as they learn they are not the world's door mat and yet continue to be just that in that their needs continue to not be met. But I definitely get the part where you said to "lay down your life" to (gain Christ). Our culture is depleted of almost all social intelligence and I am not surprised that people are looking for a work around to keep from having to deal with the opposite sex.
