November and December have been busy months full of projects, remodeling, and life. Good beautiful messy life! Slow Living doesn’t mean you don’t do anything it means ( to me ) to savor and be in the present always living mindfully. Quite busy days on our homestead sum up these last few months.
Slow living isn’t a trend for me it's a lifestyle I have embraced for years, I really learned it from my mom and grandma. We always just took our time to enjoy the beauty of every day. I’m a romantic at heart, with a very practical lifestyle approach “ keep it simple”. I grew up on a farm and I think that furthered my love of simplicity and back to the basics mindset.
We moved six months ago to our cozy cottage, and we are in the process of fixing it up. I strive to make our home cozy and inviting no matter what stage of remodeling we are in. Making a home hygge and cozy is just a normal way of life for me and I can’t imagine it any other way.

That snow looks so beautiful. I really hope that cute cottage can be done up too. Thats a bit special. You're right , I love that island bench !😍 I have a friend who collects red furniture though , she would have loved that red. The glimpses of the kitchen look perfect. I've been looking at a lot of French country kitchens for inspiration, even though most of it won't suit this house, I'm seeing them use all different cupboards and hutches and in different colours . The good thing about not getting to do this kitchen and indeed whole house yet , is that I have much more dreaming time . Did I tell you about the beautiful black Belling oven we got off our local thrift shop owner? She bought it and didn't like cooking with gas , it worried her. We got it for a great price and you can't even tell its been used at all. Ive never had a black oven. It sure is pretty . Give my love to Johanna , that's exciting for her . Life is such an adventure. Love to you all and stay warm my lovelies ❤

So very happy for you ❤️ Funny thing is red is my favorite color, but I just didn’t feel it work with what I was doing in the kitchen and would clash with the brick wall we plan on doing. I love that you have plenty time to dream and plan your future remodel. It really is best to live in a home and get a feel for it. I am so happy for Jo, it’s wonderful to see her blossom and bloom. We are staying warm ❄️❄️❄️ but lots of snow ⛄️ lots of love and take care!
Abby Jo the kitchen looks incredible! I love how even amidst a complete remodel you do you beautiful job bringing Hygge to your home. Is that a vintage Kelvinator refrigerator that I spy by the fireplace? I'm swooning! That buffet turned kitchen island is stunning!

@@ForgottenWayFarms we do share a love of vintage kitchen tools! My grandparents had thier Kelvinator for over 40 years. Before it went to the recyclers I kept the enamel drawers and use them to this day in my pantry. I dropped you an email via your webpage 😉.

If you've never had a convection oven before a pro tip is decrease your temp by 25* for whatever the recipe tells you to use. So if it says 350* decrease it to 325* When I went through my culinary arts program that was one of the first things they teach you. The forced air cooks things faster and more efficiently so things tend to burn on the outside and are under cooked on the inside if you use temp settings for a conventional oven, which is what most recipes call for.

Don't feel bad about not being done by now. It took me a year just to unpack. Of course as I unpacked, I purged as well and had an outside job and live by myself. But yes, it takes a long time to get settled.

What product do you use on your butcher block? Your island looks beautiful!
Thank you! I use mineral oil on it once a week and I clean it with homemade lemon vinegar spray or sometimes a good organic all purpose spray. :) I plan on doing a video soon on the care of the island.

Hi Abbey Joe. I just got a convection stove and I am having difficulty using it. Can you give me any advice? No instructions came with the stove/oven.
I’m still learning mine, but I have found it cooks quicker with the fan. I found out you should lower the temperature by 25 degrees when cooking. Someone had painted before me 😊 I liked the red, but it didn’t work with my cabinets.
I've watched several videos now. Seen lot's of artistic shots of people doing random, unexplained things...rubbing stones, etc...never any explanation as to why or what is going on. Seen people painting? maybe, don't know...green? Red? Don't know. Wonder, after 3 videos, what this place actually looks like. I get it, you got an A in photography class and have always longed to have a career in this field, and yes, the random, disconnected shots are lovely. But for those of us that are watching to see a mobile home renovated, this series is simply too disjointed and random. Just show your projects maybe. With a brief explanation of what you're doing and some after shots from when the project is finished. I'm thrilled you made cookies, but didn't really need the close ups of that process. Thrilled you made some warm, nourishing food, but again, where's the renovation video I was promised.
These videos are geared more for slow living , relaxing, with projects and remodeling going on. Not sure what videos you watched but there are a few that we tour what we are doing. Everyone has their own style, and as the saying goes "to each his own"
