Cozy Christmas Decorating at our hygge cottage on a snowy day for the Holidays! Simple decor and a slow living Christmas is on the menu for today. I hope you all keep your holidays simple and sweet and we wish you a very Merry Christmas.
Slow living isn’t a trend for me its a lifestyle I have embraced for years, I really learned it from my mom and grandma. We always just took our time to enjoy the beauty of everyday. I’m a romantic at heart, with a very practical lifestyle approach “ keep it simple”. I grew up on a farm and I think that furthered my love of simplicity and back to the basics mindset.

We moved six months ago to our cozy cottage, and we are in the process of fixing it up. I strive to make our home cozy and inviting no matter what stage of remodeling we are in. Making a home hygge and cozy is just a normal way of life for me and I can’t imagine it any other way.

Years ago our family flipped houses. I see your transformation and KNOW how many hours of hard work goes on behind the Sheetrock- the plumbing,wiring etc. Not to forget ripping up the sub floors and sometimes the floor joists. Merry Christmas. THANK YOU for your vulnerability to share your home (while in its unfinished but yet, lived in state). I too live in a modular home. We’ve lived here going on our 3rd year now and have been upgrading and repairing as we go. I’ve been embarrassed by the never ending clutter and the inability to get it finished. I say all of that to say, thank you from the bottom of my heart. I’d never even heard the word (Hygge) before discovering your channel. I find that it’s exactly what I’ve always longed for and have tried to make our home be. I’m extending myself a bit more Grace today and allowing myself the time needed to accomplish this dream and watch it slowly and steadily become reality. You truly are an inspiration. 😊❤️

I love the way you achieve a cozy look without excessive clutter. Many decorators put too much “stuff” everywhere. You don’t! I love this! Having built a house over two years, I know the challenges you face.

I have none but grateful to be moving into a brand new Mobile home 2021, nobody's ever lived on the property either! So just taking all my plants and essentials but leaving everything else! I'm sure someone will want furniture? Going from a single to a double! At least I don't have to travel far!!

Looks so nice. My wife gave all our Christmas stuff to the Good Will some years back. She couldn't handle all the clutter everywhere. What I seen as decorations she seen as clutter and it stressed her out mentally. She loved Christmas just not the clutter everywhere. For at least a good 25 years we decorated every year for Christmas it was the funnest time of the year. Then she had a breakdown. She over worked herself physically sick thinking she had to work 2 and three jobs for years. We told her she didn't need to be working all the time. I brought in a nice livable income but for some reason it wasn't enough. So all we could was to pray and let God show her to trust in HIM the way she trusted her jobs to give her a paycheck.
Well in away our prayers got answered. Her whole body shutdown she laid in bed for 3 weeks after she got out of the hospital. Doctors told her she had to slow down. So she did for awhile physically she got better but mentally she had changed we all seen it but she couldn't see it.
Everything had to change myself and our two boys would clean the house and have it looking good but when she came home she'd get mad because we hadn't clean the house. Nothing was good enough unless she did it herself. So we would keep things put away nothing out that didn't have to be out and on Sunday after church we all came home and cleaned the house with her there. I only told y'all all of that so that you can understand why I can't decorate like I use too. I loved putting out all the pretty stuff most of it the boys and I made together. My Grandmother said that we had to put out the prettiest decorations we had or could make because we were decorating for Jesus's birthday party...... Merry Christmas to all and y'all be blessed in Jesus name... BBE...

I once moved 15 days before Christmas, I stacked my boxes in corners that were not essential. And full on decorated my house inside and out! What a memory! I too am like you AbbyJo, make it cozy and embrace where you are.

What an absolutely gorgeous job you're doing. I love the cute little nooks in the kitchen wall , the painted cabinets with the wood bench tops to set it off and I actually like those arch windows. Haha. Everything is beautiful. Gallery wall looks amazing. So many beautiful frames and pictures. It looks far bigger than the little cottage and yet you know just how to make it look so cozy and inviting. Enjoy my friends. Love to all 🥰❤

I have quite similar taste / decor. My family and I live in New Zealand, and can only dream of a lovely wintery Christmas.
Autumn and winter are my favourite time of the year, as this is when I can really get into a slower pace, and can be all cozy with my family around the fire. In fact, the cooler months have always been comforting for me.
I love your home, and love those paintings, again another similar aspect of our decor.
