I loved both characters and miss ER a lot! I didn't realize Carter was attracted to Black women way before his wife (Played by Thandie Newton), but then it makes sense because he loved Dr. Benton too.
Benton was so unplacent, but in some way Carter was his little brother that humanize him, and Benton was Carter big brother that push him to be better.

The father taught his son very well in end. Passed on everything he learned to him. If Benton was never tough and hard on Carter he would never made it to where he was. He became a great doctor because of his mentor/teacher.
Thank you! Wether it's true or not, I really think Carter changed Benton in some way. Benton wasn't the TEACHER all the time, they grew up together. Maybe that's why Benton cared about Carter so much ；）
