Imagine running low on charge and finding out your nearest charger is at a Lidl supermarket 😂
Be practical and go shopping while it’s charging.
😅😅
AND IT'S BEHIND THE STORE NEXT TO THE GARBAGE BINS
😆😆😆
@@kasperkjrsgaard1447 If you have to shop at Lidl then it defeats the whole point of driving a Rolls, doesn't it?
After watching this review, I've sadly come to the conclusion that I can't afford one. The umbrella, that is. :)
😂😂😂
😂😂
Fortunately we can buy Skoda with simply clever solutions covered also umbrellas:):) backing to RR, nice that we still can see so nice engineered car with brilliant suspension, awesome options, even if I would never sit in it but in my daily Peugeot:)
Between 1900 and 1925 Electric cars and vans outnumbered petrol powered vehicles.
@@Hubbellification Maybe, but I bet the umbrellas were only available in black. :)
The prices they ask for options proves that they know that their clientele is so rich that they lost all idea about the value of money...
Very very true.
It seems designed to relieve idiots of their money.
@@stephencrowther524 Absolutely. Rolls royce, Ferrari, Porsche, Bugatti, they all know that they are purposefully fleecing and financially stealing from their customers constantly and blatantly. A $15,000 Rolls option probably cost them less than a $1,000..so they should charge maybe $1,500 at most for that kind of option, not $15,000...pure theft...
i actually think its the opposite. i think they HAVE to make it expensive otherwise nobody would buy it. if its not expensive their cilientele thinks "nah thats too cheap". i could be wrong but im absolutely convinced that this is how some (most?) super rich people think. they only buy this to show off. and if its not expensive enough, they cant show off. like porsche people do with their PTS shit.
Whatever makes you feel better.
To me there is no doubt that Harry's garage THE best automotive channel in whole of TH-cam. Love Harry's enthusiasm and unbiased reviews. Keep it coming Harry!
What's his name again?
I didn't need DB gauges to measure the sound. You knew and understood the immediate difference in ride experience from the moment you left the driveway. Impressed
So they've finally made Lady Penelope a car
Lol, I just said the same to my wife! 🤣
FAB 1
Oh dear
I watch every video but not always for the car featured
I wouldn’t want this in a gift ad I dislike all those expensive luxury cars
I’ll have your Zagata or 911 🥰
My thoughts..
Harry was Parker for a day
The chromed metal bullseye air vents were first introduced in 1966 in the Silver Shadow. Every car since has had them and they are lovely. A great nod to the past.
I've had a 20 minute ride in a RR Wraith and to be frank, that was just about inaudible in traffic as well as being seriously fast and refined - one of my all time favourites.
Hi Harry, buttons for closing left/right door are located on center console just next to “idrive” wheel. Great review as always👍🏻
And bmw owner will know how to use the 1-8 buttons. 😂
What stops the doors smashing into other cars that you park next too? They open about 1.5m.
the thunderbirds colour & overall rear end styling is shocking. A premier footballers wet dream
I agree 😅
The colour is wonderful imo
Yep, awful - I wouldn't drive that thing around if you paid me.
I always say that football just encourages bad haircuts and terrible fashion.... now you've reminded me to add disgusting cars to that summary 😂
We should all become premier footballers, thats the only way we can all afford to go EV. Get the government to mandate it now! Back to reality I will stick with my diesel 4x4.
Having the sound deadening low down instead of up front under the bonnet - really improved the handling.
If my Butler dosent shut the door my Chauffeur does.
Hahaha 😆
You don't use a chauffeur with a two door car.
Colour matches some coffee cups I have
If your valet wasn't having the night off he'd check your spelling too! 🤣
What is a butler doing out of the house?
The term butler came from bottler, they look after your wine, beer and spirits.
You possibly meant your valet.
6:38 : The Passenger Door Controls are on the central console, next to the dial. They look like two window switches - they are in fact door switches.
8:10 : You can see what those 1-8 preset buttons are by *touching* (not pushing down) on the button. If you touch it without pushing down on it, it'll show what the preset is set to on the infotainment screen.
How do you know this?
@@procatprocat9647 Let's just say I've had "extensive experience" with newer Rolls Royces, including the Spectre. ;)
The barn sized door needs its own carpark
Love the shape but that’s an awful colour combo.
Agree
Yep, came here to say the same. Great example of money not buying taste.
Muddy Plum?
What is that horrible color?
In flesh. In black. It’s another definitive Roller. For those that can. Why not ? And yes. What’s going on this colour combo. It isn’t pretty.
Thunderbirds Edition.
I groaned when the grill lit up :(
Love the fact that if Harry hasn't got a noisy fun sounding car, he still manages to get screeches out of the tires
Crazy to think that this EV have that gigantic hood, does it store lots of luxurious air?
Only thing i would liked to have seen is how small your silver shadow looks parked next to the spectre
He posted a pic on instagram
😆 I’ve thought so for ages now, imagine if you like that for just one moment the likes of you or I (the average bloke or blokess in the street) could afford to spend £450K on a car only to find at time of delivery your money hasn’t afforded you a fully painted car?!! No, no, no, even if I had the sort of money for this kind of car TWO TONE is an ABSOLUTE NO-GO!!
I saw another review on this motor except it was a purple/silver two tone, I liked the purple but c’mon, for a luxury brand that used to be famous simply for the number of coats of paint lavished on its’s cars, two-tone’s so cheap!!
When are they going to put the topcoat on?
On the black or the colour? I thought the lower parts of the body colour looked a bit 'dull'
Wasn't the standard spec 23 coats of hand rubs lacquer ontop of the base colour, giving something like nearly 40 coats in all?
The Carmargue would like all the people who have been so harsh to it over the decades to apologize
😆
After the Carmargue made into the Spitfire Beast I now like the style of the CarM!!!
I always liked the Camargue, but I was in the minority.
I've always liked the Carmargue. It's a bit vulgar, and a bit 70s kitch, but I like it. And compared to the Spectre, it's quite elegant and discreet.
@@jjefferyworboys8138 Me too. Stunning cars.
Harry’s reaction to that right hand turn was brilliant. Thanks harry
Harry, the door close switch is on the centre armrest, next to the rotary controller for the inforainment 😊
It was too close 🤔 He was looking at it.
Pick one of these up in 5 years time for 70k
Yepp, and the range left will be 10 miles, and a battery replacement for 1 million due.
Just before the battery needs to be replaced ...
Good deal ...
Hardly a flicker of an eyelash time-wise.
well they are getting closer to lady penople's RR.
yes M’Lady
No surprise really, they also build a SUV that is close to a Metrocab.
@@jimherbert007 st moritz, if you please Parker.
Totally different colour.
"getting closer", not the same colour.
How did he miss that the buttons to close to doors are right there next to the i-drive controller????
Harry should have gone to Specsavers!
HE DOES LITTLE RESEARCH ON CARS HE REVIEWS. HE'S NO DOUG.
I was surprised when Harry got into the back seat at the 5:15 mark that the seat did not flip forward and flip back electronically. Instead it was a manual mechanical action and it bounced/shook when he pulled it back into place. Would not be a big deal normally but at $500,000 it is.
The first time I drove a Tesla Model S, my comment was “Rolls Royce should be doing this”. The silence, smoothness and refinement is absolutely suited to their brand. Mind you, the range seems to be a bit of a joke, I had an Impreza Turbo that needed filling every 220 miles and that was a pain in the neck. I can’t imagine what a nuisance a 180 mile range on an electric Rolls Royce would be. So much for continent-crushing!
@joelsmith9311
> Mind you, the range seems to be a bit of a joke, I had an Impreza Turbo
> that needed filling every 220 miles and that was a pain in the neck.
And that was when you'd be in and out of the filling station in about 5 minutes. Imagine if had taken *hours* to fill the tank.
Rolls Royce owners only drive to their private plane. As Harry said, they do only 5.000 miles a year in their car.
@@drfisheye Not even. 5000km/yr.
@@drfisheye And own several more cars.
They know their clientelle - while they sell their cars as long distance cruisers you take to the alps every weekend, 99% of them will be used to choffeur people around london in standstill traffic, so the range is perfectly adequate for a day's job, and then the butler can charge it.
The door closing switches are in the centre console. Just in front of the arm rest.
surprised they havn't kept analogue dials. The digital ones might look ok on a 20k Volkswagen
Too noisy would be my guess
@@geek9642 lol
It is a shame, but because the electrical systems are based on BMW’s it’s just frankly easier and cheaper to carry them over. I wish they were analogue.
@@rare6499 do you understand how they work they are the same signal. honestly don't fill comments with fake news like this
@@mikenewbold1699 sorry but that’s not true. I work in manufacturing in the car industry. It’s a combination of multiple factors that would have meant they carried over the digital displays, cost being one, the electrical architecture being based on the BMW system being another. There’s a reason why the Cullinan which has just been facelifted and has moved over to the latest model year electric architecture also now has the digital dash. It’s way more integral to the vehicle systems than you realise. There are a number of vehicle features and systems that were designed to display on a digital dash. Reverting that to an analogue system is not just a case of transferring the system to analogue dials. If you want analogue dials they would have needed to design the entire system around it, come up with other means of displaying relevant information which those digital displays now also display.
3 tonnes of depreciation.
Only peasants worry about depreciation!
😂😂😂👏👏👏
Great comment 🤣
I think when you're at the point where you can afford one of these, depreciation probably isn't a concern
250,000 pounds in 3 years!!!!
Nice review Harry, 2 comments: 1) The button for closing the passenger door can be found in the middle console, you need to keep it “pulled” for closing the door. 2) you can see the function of the shortcut buttons by touching (but not pressing) them. If you glide your finger over them the shortcut function will appear on screen
That quote is damn cool. :) As a German I always loved British cars and oldschool fashion... you guys just know how to make an impressive entry.
It is a German car though, pretty sure its engineered completely by BMW.

The 8 buttons on the dash are touch sensitive. When you slightly touch them with your finger on the screen it will light up what that button does. You can then press the button to select that option. Radio station, Home Address Preset, Spirit of Ecstasy raise & lower, etc.
To close either door there are dedicated buttons on the passager side on the center console, next to the iDrive selector.
What could possibly go wrong...?
Straight from BMW.
Yes, standard BMW tech. Not surprising I guess
Pretty user unfriendly IMO.
"What does this button do? Oh, l have to touch it and see what the screen says and then maybe realise I don't want that function so I'll try the next one"
Pretty daft when they could've put small OLED screens over each that showed its function BEFORE you press it. To me, that would've made much more sense.
@@bennylloyd-willner9667 wherever did you get the idea that this vehicle is about making sense?
Superb episode Harry. Your review of this automobile is exemplary, and so pleased it is a Roller !!!
The 8 buttons across the dash are a straight lift from BMW - you used to be able to hover your finger just above the button and it would show you in the display what it was set at without having to press it.
I love the sound of scrap metal when opening the hood
Exactly what I was thinking. Opening the hood should not sound like that in a Rolls.
A sound the buyers of these cars will never hear.
@@marckant3611Very noticeable.
@@snakerbl😂
Horrible colour and it looks very claustrophobic
12:37 The Morgan is nearly as tall as the Rolls' bonnet 😆
Passenger door should close by pulling and holding its button for the electric window.
Rules of etiquette are that if you entertain a guest for a journey in the passenger seat, then as the driver, you close the door for your guest from outside - if on the rare occasion that your butler, security detail or valet is not available.
@@matthewhackett1710Nevertheless…..
I think the armrest controls are too far, better if it was simply a button on the centre console. But as it's a modern Rolls, that would be far too logical

This looks remarkably like Lady Penelope's Rolls from Thunderbirds in the late 1960s! The writers were way ahead of their time!
I wonder how well that huge, low-slung, battery would cope with an impact from a speed hump or ramp? Such an impact would presumably be eminently possible due to the large wheelbase. If a little Caterham Seven can ground out then that behemoth of a car surely can!
I am so surprised it has no front boot or frunk considering the size of it
It's rather undistinguished to be popping the hood of your RR even though it's electric and not broken (yet).
Enjoyable video, I watched J leno showing off his Spectre which was a lovely black.
Don't know how that J Leno can drive his eyes seem half closed notice the footage of him driving he driffed into the other lane all the time
Supercar Blondie seems also quite thrilled with hers .
@@ronmccullock1407 I got the same impression watching Jay ride a Kawasaki high performance motorcycle. Veterans of riding on two wheels can spot a nervous and insecure rider immediately. If Jay remains in denial and continues riding, the odds will surely catch up with him.
The last episode I watched was about an early Toronado he had resto-modded to RWD. At that moment I realized not all his dogs were barking.
Harrys Shadow please, any day.
You could buy 30 decent Shadows for the price of one Spectre, 30 !! Or one Shadow for the price of a Spirit of Ecstacy. Absolute bonkers
Good film Harry
There is supposed to be a button on the central console that makes it so when you press the brake pedal both doors close.
Passenger door close button is on the centre console 👍
To shut the passenger door there is a switch to the driver's side of the center toggle ( gear stick )
Why would anyone spec a car like that in the colour of an OAP’s bathroom suite from the 1990’s. Jay Leno’s black one with a black interior looks stunning.
I had a RR Shadow with a pink velour interior, lots of excess in the 1970's !
Finished in Metallic Calpol?
It would seem that the visibility is like looking out of a slot in a pillar box. Makes you realise how brilliant the Shadow was,
Not a fan of the looks - It's like a Chinese knock of version of the old wraith.
Plus that grille looks completely out of place. It looks like that old vanden Plas allegro thing😂
Love those shortcut buttons. Used to be in every BMW until they ditched them in favour of full touch screens. One press of a button to set the satnav to home, a particular radio station, turn the screen off, bring up a particular menu etc… You can usually see the presets by just resting your finger on each button, but not pushing them down. This brings up a prompt on the screen.
@jamesbaggaley1460
> One press of a button to set the satnav to home,
Brilliant idea. Nothing better than giving someone who's stolen a very expensive car details of where you live.
@@anonnona8099assuming it’s just BMW iDrive then the shortcuts and favourites are all linked to your driver profile, which is activated by either your key being in the car or a PIN entered on the dash. And do these systems decide for themselves which favourites to store, and work out for themselves what your home address is, or does the driver have to do something boneheaded like telling it what his home address is?
If someone stole my car, the Comand system would show recent destinations etc, but I've never been boneheaded enough to put my actual address in when using the satnav to get me home from wherever - somehow I've always been able to cope by using it to direct me to somewhere nearby, from where I can get to my house by remembering where it is.
I suppose you could gripe about the range but when you expect the BEST and are stunned when it exceeds the performance and handling as wraps you in a quit tranquil environment, if you have the funds, write the check! Harry nails it again, when you pay for the BEST you should get it and, in this case, you get more!!!
More, as you sit by a charger every couple of hundred miles?
@@stevemawer848Who the hell drives a RR for 200 miles? Used buyers maybe... The ones buying new use something else past 100 miles!

That's impressive, getting on for £1/2m quid and it has a start-up chime like a £70 Halfords head-unit.
I'd want a tiny hologram of a string quartet to appear and give the rendition of my choice for that much.
For that money, I would want a REAL string quartet to see me off everytime I drove it, playing my favourite overture. Sense of occasion, you understand.
I agree the startup chime is horrible and really tacky, cheap sounding. It would annoy me in any car, but in a car like this? It would enrage me ...
The 1-8 buttons you mentioned it’s the same as BMW you can see what they are without pressing them. They are touch sensitive you just need to touch them and it will show on screen what it’s shortcut is

The buttons on the radio (1-8) if they haven’t changed it, they should be capacitive, meaning you can rest your finger on yet and the function will be shown on the screen
Excusing "rest your finger on yet" - capacitive does mean they sense touch eclectically, but does not mean some data is displayed. (Little bit of English language confusion on your part is forgivable.)

Bit of a challenge getting in and out at Tesco's car park 😂
And Tesco's have wider than most bays but probably alright outside Harrods
Just park in the mother and baby bays, like Mercedes drivers do 😉
I imagine most RR owners have someone to do their shopping.
£444k ?. Obscene & ostentatious . I think Harry paid £4k for his Shadow which I'd rather have. The Spirit of Ecstasy on the Sceptre alone is £3800.
Exactly.
Me too.
Cheap by modern Ferrari standards
How is that any different to say a brand new Ferrari? It’s always cooler to drive around in an older car anyhow…
Depreciation so horrifying that you couldn’t take seriously anyone who chose it to be competent in any part of managing a business or an investment portfolio.
06:35 To close the passenger door, there is a button with door icon dedicated to such task on the center console, pull the door and that’s it. It’s part of #Effortless Door.
My dad had a Shadow II when I was little and used to revel in the uncanny (for that era) levels of refinement. Now I give him lifts in my Mk2 Nissan Leaf and he moans about how smooth and silent the whole driving experience is... (I do agree that if any brand stands to benefit from the EV revolution, R-R is probably it...)
6:40 are you kidding? the two buttons are right there in the center console next to the iDrive controller
Another car massacred by screens. Of all manufactures rolls royce is supposed to be the most luxurious and timeless, In 3 years this interior will be outdated.
Charging at the services will be interesting, lots of attention I'm sure.
I wish Lexus hadn't abandoned the LS range because that excelled in low speed pickup and effortless in-town driving. An electric LS would rival Spectre at a fraction of the cost.
I can imagine the depreciation being even worse than forecast a la Taycan as new technology comes along. Those colours wouldn't be for me, and I;ve always thought the startlights looked tacky. But it is a beautiful car. Strangely the thing I like most about it is the piping on the seats. The red and white looks superb. Well done to any future owner who pays all their taxes, doesn't use anonymous overseas trusts, and can still afford one.
Rappers and footballers have just soiled their underpants .
Obviously you would personally open and close the passenger door for Mrs M, so no need for a button 😉🤙
This car is in 100% homosexual spec.
Mr and Mr.
There is a button by the ashtray, apparently.
Makes a smaller spirit of ecstasy but keeps giant rear view mirrors…🤔
Aaah buttons and screens. Perfect combo - what we are all craving in regular cars!
I have trouble remembering what the buttons do on the lower dash of our Skoda because the miniscule symbols are obscured by reflections during the day so how are you to remember what each unmarked button does unless you use it regularly? i assume that once set there is no need to use it for some time.
I have no idea why I watched this as I’ll never be able to buy one even when fully depreciated. But it’s a good review.
Good point about the enhancement brought by electric for the brand. The range isn't that important for the RR clients as they aren't doing road trips in their Spectre. They have another car for that...and staff :)
Opposite, Rolls are the perfect long distance cars. Except this one.
That's a very "green" mentality ...
Good lord.
Electric works for a rolls. It's all about quiet and smooth.
Amazing car. But, is it me? Head on from the front, I can see an Allegro Vanden Plas looking back! 😂😂 Honestly, just look at it. 👍👍
I can't unsee that 😆
I can't remember whose channel I first saw the Spectre but I thought then what a perfect way to push a Rolls Royce, quiet and effortless is the Rolls Royce way but I don't think that back then anybody thought that it would have dynamic prowess. Thanks Harry, as always you have the review I want to see.
That thing is not going to be at all worried about bumps in the road.
It would steam roller its way over the Alps, and flatten them into the ground!!
If you over indulged at your favourite 5 Star eatery, you'd be over the 3 tonnes.
I think the 180k depreciation is a bit optimistic after three years .. id say its going to be almost impossible to resale
The Button to close the passenger and driver door is in the centre next to ashtray

Next to the what?
In front of the center armrest you will find the menu pad and around it you will find the button to close the driver and passenger door.
I’m just chocked no one at rolls Royce presenting the main features of the car.
Am I the only one that likes the colour? 😂
yes
I have always liked purple.
It's one of those colors that looks a lot better in person. Plus the lighting in the garage really does it a disservice. Maybach has a similar color in two tone with cream and it's quite nice up close.
The customer is always right, in matters of taste
This would look fantastic in the 1913 ghost Alpine trial livery, baby blue to the bottom and silver to the top, dark blue leather with unpolished mahogany woodwork!
I never thought a Rolls Royce could ever look bad, but they've managed it with that colour scheme.
