Honestly that's a good answer. As a person who sees animals equal to us more intelligent animals I think that's a very good answer. Some people might eat it, some will take it as a friend or animal that lives on their property until it dies naturally.

She could not believe i wanted Thai spicy, then when I came back 30 minutes later for “extra Thai spicy” she was confused… such delicious mouth searing.
Hmongtown Marketplace was my go to along with Bona Pho. I seriously considered moving after staying there for work a couple months on and off.
Also the first shop, those are some banging sausages. When I was there it almost always seemed half closed, but man what was there was worth it!
My mouth just started salivating reading this 😂 I just ask for a bit less spicy (and I grew up with Thai chilis) but it still burns 🤤 but also addicting
Don't let them not give you enough of that tiny citrus fruit they use as a numbing spice. Their strategy is to do it by telling you that it's Too Spicy For You. Mala is what the numbingness is called. In south Asia there is a similar herb but it is not as numbing
This was the first lady I ever saw put shrimp and meatballs in there as she TumTumTum. It looked good though. My Laos folks gonna be mad that I want to try it the Hmong way now lol.

Ever since I saw this video I wanted to go to the Hmong market. I finally made it there this weekend. I ate the intestines, the pig ears, the pork belly.....and loved it all. Too bad I ran out of space and never got to try the mango salads and all the other appealing foods, but, I will definitely go back and experience it all !!! Thanks for your awesome videos !

Them stuffed chicken wings kept with us since we left china. Back in china the miao still cook that shiet.
I grew up in La Crosse WI getting egg rolls at Mai’s and now I live in Green Bay and I’m eating stuffed chicken wings and pho and purple sticky rice at the many many tasty places here! I’m glad that the Hmong culture is finally getting its due when it comes to the awesome food they brought to the US.
I went to school there and didn't know about Hmongs until then!
Grew up near La Crosse, now live an hour away. Whenever we’re visiting family, we stop at Hmongs Golden Eggroll.

Welcome back to the cold, Minnesota. Thank you for displaying our Hmong food from our local Como Market despite there being other amazing Hmong food vendors/restaurants within the cities. Stay warm Sonny! 💜
I went to the twin cities last Fall to watch the Bears play the Vikings and we searched for Hmong restaurants and couldn't find any. We ate a lot of other foods though. Khaluna Lao restaurant was fire; so was the Butcher's Tale. Twin Cities has a great food scene considering its size.
I would love to try just some of that food, not all since intestines are not for me and tried them before, but the stuffed chicken looked absolutely amazing!
I've never had pork belly and really have to try it.
@krnpowr you gotta ask around, most hmong restaurants aren't putting hmong food down in the name or what they sell, restaurants don't advertise enough on who makes hmong food because restaurants just goes and makes a certain cuisine that would attract majority. I do believe it's time now for more advertisement of what restaurants specialize in hmong food, otherwise you either go to hmongtown or hmong village food court.

Glad to see you back in Minnesota Sonny! One of my favorite videos you did was when you tried all that fair food, especially the cheese curds!
I don't live in Minnesota, but we have a fairly large Hmong population here, and I'm very glad we do. They have really introduced some amazing foods to our city, as have all the other southeast Asians here, and the folks from various parts of Africa. We are no longer just boring meat and potatoes with the occasional taco shop thrown in for good measure. We also have a large Middle Eastern population too, so the opportunities to have some really great food in mom & pop style restaurants has burgeoned.
Sonny has made me hungry. Can't wait for the restaurants to open so I can get some stuffed wings and other goodies!
What area do you live in? I just moved here to North Carolina a few months ago and there is a pretty large Hmong population here as well.

In 1996 I was living in St. Paul and the Hmong New Year Celebration was going on inside of the Civic Center. I lived just down the street so I went in for a visit. Glad I did! I was one of very few farang there but didn't feel unwelcomed. Entry was free and I wasn't charged an arm and a leg to try new food. That one event has had a huge impact on my life. Another point about the Hmong in The Cities. When they came here they had no choice but to live in the "poor part of town" ie Frogtown. Within 10 years crime was down, test scores were higher and the city raised property tax. A few years later, Lutheran Social Services doubled down, and lost on the Somalian.

@@bangkokfed Hmong and Somali culture is different. Unfortunately Somalis come not only from an uneducated background, but their culture isn't the insane feats that the Hmong people have been through. Also Somali's are like super anti-vax on everything lol.

The best egg rolls I have ever had when I was a kid....I remember in the 80's when Hmong people came to Minnesota. I was born and raised there and out while neighborhood changed over night. It was a culture shock but it was awesome. And the. In 2000 Somali people came. We have hands down theeeeeeeee best and diverse food in the twin cities because of the immigrants that came over....only thing I miss about Minnesota is my family, the food, the people, and......the Hmong markets.
Love that Sonny always highlights what we have in Minnesota! Been all over the world, but still pays respect to MN. ❤

Never knew anything about the Hmong culture before this (will def go into a learning vortex about them), but also... for 100 bucks that was a ton of food.
The intestines were neat... we eat boudin a ton so seeing that slight convergence was fun. That papaya salad was a banger, too.

Johnson parkway hmong village, Hella worth it just be prepare to find parking but the food is awesome, I'm hmong and I go there twice a week for the chicken

If you have had the pleasure to come to Hmong Town or Hmong Village, it is the epiphany and the embodiment of America. It's a cultivation of all kinds of culture. Everything from food to clothes to movies and all various kinds of product. The only reason why we do implement alot of different food from all over the world into our menu of food is because we are literally a race of people who has immigrated ALL over the world and see no boundaries when it comes to culture and religion. Hmong people are some of the most welcoming batch of people in the world and it comes down to the fact that we know the feeling of being forced out countries and home lands because of our race and culture and so we relate to many in those ways.
Highly encourage people who haven't gone to this place to go, its very easy to find and gps to and the food is delicious, they also have a spot where fresh fruits and veggies are sold, a lot of the fruits are exotic and are rare to the US.

One thing people don't know also is that alot of southeast Asian cuisine is shared and made into their own. Everyone adds their own flare to it and im cool with it cause I've tried it. I'm Lao but I have hmong friends as well and I like the differences and similarities. Nothing wrong with it. I cant say how it is in the homelands tho but thats my view here in the states personally.

exactly!! sometimes the difference in herbs and the ratio of the five flavors are what show what each culture's taste buds are like. seriously when you taste the two dish side by side, you know who made which one.
Why don't. We.take Americans hamburger add Hmong twiste and Hmong sauce to it and call it Hmong food..
The thai chilli + fish sauce based sauce they give on the side of hmong sausage is heavenly.

Honestly, Hmong people could rename their dishes from the inspirational version since it sometimes taste almost nothing alike, but we wanted to honor the original dish. Like for example the Homemade Hmong pho. I show it once to my Korean friends from church a d they went everywhere looking for it but only find the Vietnamese version. They came back and asked me and I told them this version is normally not sell because only the Hmong people know how to eat it. You'll almost have to know a Hmong person to eat it. They ask why didn't we change the name? I told them because we use the noodles call PHO lol now they make it here and there at home
yes!!!! hmong pho is the best I have eaten. I have eaten from many places, such as Thai, laotian, Vietnamese, etc., and the homemade style pho from the hmong are number one. the condiments make the soup so good!! thai comes at second!!

That place is in St. Paul, not Minneapolis and it’s huge! Tons of food vendors, Hmong clothing, fruit/vegetables, tea, and more. Worth the visit.

That beef tripe soup is a delicacy in the Philippines, the level of bitterness from the bile is of your preference. Some regions have a goat version but same concept & most include all the animal innards & lots of garlic,onions & ginger gives it a refreshing flavor. Very comforting soup! ( I prefer not too bitter though)
I have a Hmong friend here in South Carolina. You need to try some of the peppers I grow. Unique flavors that will burn you up. Scorpion’s Eye is a Scorpion pepper crossed to a Bird’s Eye.

Hmong foods has always been a blend of where the family came from. Influences from many different regions and cultures. But what I do see are foodies that think they are food experts but find indifference cringe as they try food of a different race. I have always like this channel for their objective and open perspective. Awesome work.

Never heard of the Hmong till I lived in Fitchburg, MA & I'm half Korean 🤷🏻♀️ Also lived in Lowell, MA where there is a huge Khmer community. A Lao friend butchered a live duck in his kitchen & dumped a bunch of bile all over the meat they cooked for a long time, that tasted like very bitter jerky. All have great food, I love exploring their Asian markets (always fresh produce).

I will have to look for the stuffed chicken wings in my home Fresno, CA, USA. Home of the largest Hmong New Year event anywhere. Normally Thai salad doesn't have fermented crab. Hmong salad locally has fermented crab paste, lovely flavor and really worth walking around the office with the lid off so everyone can enjoy the wonderful aroma. Yes, talking about heat, I enjoy Mexican habinero level, not plain white boy level as it was described to me by the cook.

i was surprised to discover there's a big Hmong community in minnesota, i live in french guyana there is a big Hmong community here too !
A lot of Hmong were given the choice to relocate to either the US, Canada or France after the Vietnam War.
