There is no question the Santa Fe Sport is the better vehicle BY FAR...!!! The Tucson is a nice little SUV. However, it's turbo engine with the DCT transmission is PLAGUED with issues...!!! Turbo lag is a MAJOR problem for this vehicle. Where as the Santa Fe's turbo engine shifts nearly flawlessly without nearly any turbo lag even off the line from a stop or driving around town. That was the biggest selling point for me over the 2 vehicles and i'm sure for many other folks out there as well.

I'm in the market for a new vehicle and I think I had it narrowed to these 2 so the comparison was EXACTLY what I needed. I am a nearly 59 yr old female recently widowed so I cannot say THANK YOU enough.

Nice comparison between 2 similar Hyundai models. Basically, if you are looking for more space than get the Santa Fe. Also, if you are looking at the Santa Fe, they are doing a complete redesign for next year so I guess take a look at the leaks and decide if you would rather wait for that, or rather get this generation. My dad liked the 2017 Sonata more than the 2018 one and got that (also a $6,000 incentive to make room for the new ones helped). My dad chose this time, but my mom is choosing next time and it will probably be between a Santa Fe and CR-V when the 2009 Sonata goes so it will be a battle of the H brands.
If you are looking for a little bit more room look at the Santa Fe. I didn't notice any different in the passenger areas and a tiny bit larger in the cargo area. I went with the Tuscon and I am very happy I did. I love it.

I can read the labels you have on screen differentiating the colors of the 2 models, but the information you’re giving is irrelevant, if you’re showing a different car from what you’re describing. Robert Schneider, just curious why you say that. Am I missing something about the duel clutch that is bad? Acura, BMW, Lexus, and many higher end manufacturers are all switching to duel clutch transmissions these days. I have only heard mostly good things about them

The Santa Fe is one of the biggest SUVs in the Hyundai company, so the Kona is small, Tucson is medium, and Santa Fe is large.
I am embarrassed to say I got the Santa fe as a rental and couldn't figure out how to release the gas tank door

I'll take the Santa Fe Sport because it doesn't have a Dual Clutch Transmission.
But the Tucson has two different transmissions that you can choose from. So you're not stuck with the Santa Fe.

I just bought a 2017 Tuscon Ultimate and I absolute love the 7 speed duel Clutch transmission. It shifts so much quicker then a standard transmission.

According to that article it was not a transmission problem but a software problem which was solved last year.
