Such great timing, I was legit just taking a quick youtube break before diving in and rewriting my climax. This helped me solidify what I wanted to do so much. Thank you!
i feel like my third acts are the ones i struggle with the most, they're always way too short and I don't have a lot in the way of actually showing the character development, but your advice has cleared up a lot of stuff i think i was doing wrong thank you!!! this series was great.
I’m glad!! I used to have shorter third acts too because I thought I was just supposed to wrap everything up so it was basically one long epilogue. I didn’t realize that it can have ups and downs too. So I totally get it!
A lot of trial and error essentially 😅 I started using save the cat on my third novel in like the fourth or fifth draft, and since then and the start of the series I wrote a few different books, so it’s really been a process of figuring it out for myself and then now I can share my most recent process of how I use it. And even then, I still make adjustments. So it’s definitely been a long term process that hopefully don’t be as long for other people since this series exists now
All of my settings are based on real places which helps a lot and so it’s often exact. So usually I’m pulling from that, and sometimes I’ll get to go there to research and take pictures and photos. But I often don’t do a lot of pre-work brainstorming. I often just have an idea in my head and perhaps an idea of some scenes, and from there, I will start filling in the save the cat beats. So doing the beat sheet basically becomes the brainstorm. And then I might brainstorm to figure out what goes in the beat. Hope that helps! And thank you! Happy holidays to you and yours too ☺️
Thank you so very much for seeing this series through!!! ♥️

Liselle can you share the magic of how you know every minute detail to plan and plot for your stories so thoroughly to use save the cat beats?

How you do your initial brainstorming and create your settings. I love your videos and happy holidays to you and your family. 🙂
