Agreed. But i also felt i wanted to see more. Like more of the side characters, what happens to the world after Noctis' death in detail, etc. It would be really nice if there were a comic or book released. But overall, i'm grateful for the amazing experience.
Indeed! That ending was just Q_Q... But thats that sad part.. in the end.. its the bond between the 4 of em that was really the best part of the game. The story felt a little too weak. Well anything would .. if you cut a lot of the game and then release it.
Yeah from what I've read (which should obviously be taken with a grain of salt) they were forced to push out the game this year because of contracts expiring. which isn't really a good excuse considering they had all this time to get their act together with it's development. But meh I still loved the game to pieces to be completely honest and the ending literally sent me on a feels train. Not the best game in the series but IMO still a decently solid addition.

Truly a tale of tragedy like Nomura stated a few years back, and Tabata definitely got us. I was in tears the entire time once I reached the ending of the game. and the new logo on the title screen too once you finish. MY HEART

It gave me close feelings like I had when I played FFVII when it came out. I got very attached and was moved by a lot of emotion. I love it, very immersive and a fantastic journey.
Why wouldn't people be confused? They put the campfire scene at the end of the credits after you beat the game for cryin' out loud. Then they roll, "Stage 2," credits.
It was more effective there since you now know Noctis is dead and at least before he died he told his friends how he felt about them. Things weren't left unsaid. This kind of thing happens all the time in movies and other games. Not very confusing.

Well they have their own dedicated episode DLC for the season pass. We might know their backstory more. And beside Square enix decided to have Final Fantasy Media Universe (or whatever they like to called it) which consist of movie, anime series, etc... for them to avoid making multiple games for the entire universe. there is a movie and a anime series already release beforehand that talk about their stories.
After all the toxic hates we can only hope for a remake, I think... Maybe after 20+ years like FFVII. Kind of hurts me as this game is special to me and in fact could have been so much better. Guess I'll just be grateful..
As for me, I like to think that Gladio, Prompto and Ignis made it out alive. I doubt they would've missed their best friend's afterlife wedding if they died as well. The throne hall is empty except for Luna and Noct after all.
i agree what's so bad about death if there is an after life where u can be with the one u like !! but i just don't like the idea of going back in time to play with the four brothers its like escaping reality

Iggy, Gladio, and Prompto are definitely alive. They all agreed to be with Noctis in spirit (and Iggy said this before the final battle lol) and they definitely showed up to help Noctis in the afterlife... God, I cried myself to sleep after beating this game as soon as New Years Day hit. This game told a beautifully tragic story. I chose the picture of the squad and supporting characters at Caem before they set sail for Altissia.
Cause it made more sense to do so! lol I mean, I can understand why others would want to choose a funny picture but I had to go with the one that had the most people in it. It's suiting for a king, even if he isn't the rightful one.
Ardyn is probably the best FF villain since HE got what he wanted in the end. Everything was planned from the start of his downfall. He knew Noctis will die with him. This was a bittersweet ending to this game. Hopefully the end of the scourge dawns a new era for Talcott and Iris. JUSTICE FOR JARED HAVE BEEN SERVED.
I will have to disagree with you on this. Just cause a villian gets what they want doesn't make them the best. The scale of Ardyn's revenge is so small and 80% of the people who play this game won't even understand fully why he was after Noctis, unless they found and read each of those Oracle books that talks about the first King of light. Caius Ballad from XIII-2 was also one of those "I-win-if-I-die" villians, and he was awful too, even though his goal was all space and time itself.
In The Dark Ardyn Lucis Caelum is a great villain, not the best. He wanted to end his family's line after his jealous brother stabbed him in the back and became the king instead.
I agree, in my opinion he is on par with Kefka, they are my two favorite villains from the series because Kefka is truly evil beyond any villain from any game ever, while Ardyn is both a slave of destiny, and yet at the same time, one of the most intricate minded characters the series has seen in a long time. (again this is my opinion)
Everyone missed that Ardyn wanted to bring darkness to the world - and in the end it isn't fulfilled. And Ardyn doesn't necessarily have to know that there's a certain way to end his immortality. His case was unique, the first in the world (of FFXV), so I don't see how he could formulate the cure for himself. While he indeed said he will wait in _beyond_ to Noctis, he was still being resistant when Noctis delivering the final blow - it's not like that he accept the fact that he will be foreverly annihilated in peace.
Noctis Caelum another similar video pointed out that in that campfire scene there was a closeup on noctis hands which had no ring on it meaning it had already been destroyed (so he has already passed by then)

NOCTIS IS DEAD ... And so is everything he's ever known. The points I wanna bring up are: - Camp scene is a flashback - Noctis is dead and so are his buddies - Why Arydn isn't so bad - Regardless, great game! Give me a chance to explain... Here are my interpretations. CAMP SCENE Clearly set before they left for Isomnia to finish Ardyn. Few examples to explain why this is the case; The sky is still plagued by darkness for one, the fact the final picture in the credits is the campfire scene, therefore cannot be after the end game. For me, the best point, the fact that they all know they will all die as an event of the final fight. This is a beautiful scene because Noctis knows he must sacrifice himself and needs to let the guys know, but it's even difficult to let them know that they will also die. The beauty in it is that individually, Prompto, Ignis and Gladio all know that the King must die but they also will die as well individually. Why? EVERYONE IS DEAD Noctis is told by Bahumut in short that he must sacrifice himself to restore light to Eos. But with Noctis dead, so will his companions as the abilities to draw weapons and magic to the fight will vanish as this is something they have inherited from Noct. They protect the King from reaching the throne room to do so, after Noct takes Knights of The Round, he dies, therefore alleviating the guys the ability to fight. This is shown in the Crystal when Noct finishes Arydn off, they are behind him when Noct delivers the final blow alongside Regis and Luna who are also dead which means they are dead too. The cutscene with Noct and Luna is beyond the fact that Luna, Regis and every other character except the fantastic four knows that Noct will be the one to sacrifice himself to save the world, but it's a scene where they are both at peace and can find what would of been a hoax had it not been for the fact they actually do love each other. The wedding was planned to allow Luna to guide Noctis into the end and give him the ring. Although they did love each other so that scene takes place in the afterlife aka astral realm. ARYDN WINS - ENDING The ending does what all good endings should do, they should make you laugh, make you cry, they should answer questions while leaving more questions in its wake. It'd be pretty boring and would make me not even consider writing this had it been straight forward. It's gotta get people talking. In the words of Will Ferrell "It's provocative, it gets the people going" Sorry, went off track... Arydn is an amazing character, he was both the Oracle chosen by the Gods and the bloodline to the throne who was wrongfully turned into a daemon and evicted of his throne. The Gods knew this and despite granted him the power to heal, didn't allow him into the astral realm after he passed, thus becoming immortal. His only goal was to destroy the bloodline, ring and crystal which was once rightfully his. In turn, he actually succeeded. When he is beat by Noctis he mutters "I will await you in the beyond" This is the last time he knows he will keep his human form and will then become a daemon. Arydyn knows that Noctis will have to sacrifice himself to destroy all daemons that he kept inside. Arydyn is the smartest villain, even in death he has succeeded. It's a shame that in death, he couldn't be sure that he had got what he wanted but knowing Noctis is now dead, we as an audience know. GREAT GAME "It's like MGS:V all over again" "They cut this, they cut that" "Open world, yeah right!" All of that I agree with, it could have been better. But in all it's a great work of art. I would love to see and know more about the characters which will obviously come in DLC. I personally want an Arydyn DLC, his downfall as a King, who exactly betrayed him. His scheme with the Empire. 8/10 for me, I love the franchise and this is another classic. Could it of had more, of course it could of. But I've loved my play through and with be playing it again without a doubt.
Pretty sure his friends are absolutely not dead. When completing his destiny it is pretty much assured that the daemons are purged as well. Seeing his friends in the after life is just a cliche anime trope, signifying that he is never alone, compared to Ardyn.

His friends are dead. They actually appear in the void just like Luna, we already know Noctis was thinking of all his loved ones before but they still appeared there.
I'd like to think this is what happened. His friends fought off the demons while he journeyed to the afterlife and stuff. They were there "in spirit" like they suggested. And now he's living happily ever after with Luna. His friends survived because the light returned before they were killed by demons. As you've probably seen, the light returns as a result of Noctis's actions. I think Ignis Prompto and Glad are still alive I think.
But it's not correctly presented. It has a lot of lore I give them dat but the story felt chopped and rushed from what originally was intented. This is why next year we are getting the storyline patch with more dialogues, character perspective and cutscenes.
I watched the movie so I didn't see as many errors with the plot as others did but chapter 13 was bland as hell. Other than that I thought the game was great if I hadn't watched the movie though I'd agree more with it not being correctly presented. By the end you shouldn't still have to ask questions they should've answered throughout the game.

You missed one theory: The reset theory. Noct erases Ardyn from history, and thereby undoes all of it, so the end is actually the marriage they should have had, in the reset timeline.
Well, it wasn't my theory, but I don't think it completely ruins the game AND Ardyn's words actually suggest that this is what will happen. Resetting the timeline was exactly the goal of FFI. Even if it got reset in FFXV (which I was simply saying was a theory that existed, not that it was MY theory), they didn't lose it ALL because they have the photo.
This has always been my understanding of the final throne scene with Luna and Noctis. Why else have the voice over from Regis to Luna regarding the ring unless Regis knew that eventually Noct would succeed and Luna would receive the letter? I've seen it explained that the throne was decorated in commemoration for Noct's death but that never made sense as it clearly looked like wedding decorations to me. Plus, nearly every Final Fantasy has an ending in which it appears the main character has died but ends with one final scene that offers a "well maybe they didn't really die". So I'm agreeing completely with the reset timeline theory.
Luna died 10 years ago, Noctis wouldn't know Nyx/would not know what he had done, these bodies are illusions. Ardyn was just trying to mess with Noctis'
They were illusions yes and Iedolas is there, which for me it gives another meaning to of why they are hanging there. Ppl think its to "provoke" Noctis, which i also thought in the first place, but if that was the case, why would Iedolas be there? (Iedolas is the one at the left most of the screen). So i think thats just a scene that shows us as players (maybe to Noctis too) that Ardyn was somehow a puppet master. He is just showing the 4 persons that helped him to get his "dream/revenge" come true and end with his life. Iedolas was the one that helped him to become an important person in Niflheim, Regis the one that took down the wall of Insomnia and ended with the Lucis family, Nyx being the one that protected the ring in the Niflheim battle and Luna being the one that delivers the ring to Noctis. Noctis would be the last "puppet" that is the one that also finishes with the Lucis generations and at the same time, ends with the immortality of Ardyn. So Ardyn was showing the 4 puppets in the chain like saying to Noctis "you are next (or the last) puppet". In other words... the 4 ppl hanging could be a meaning of the 4 "puppets" Ardyn used to complete his revenge and his biggest wish of ending with his immortality. I could be grabbing to deep into it... but is just the only way it would make sense on why Iedolas is hanging there too.
Puppet master is accurate, but however faultless Ardyn's plan was, everything was already predestined. Regis and Luna know that Noct has been chosen to die and end the scourge. They basically fulfilled their duty (Regis getting him to safety, Luna getting him the ring and awakening the summons). Iedolas was a real puppet however, but how can you not be tempted by the crystal and your military and technical superiority? All Ardyn had to do was keep pushing Noct all the way tas that was the only way for both of them to die and also end the plague. Easy win for Ardyn, greatest villain of FF

Only Ardyn wins, cuz he is the one getting everything he wanted, the Lucis blood dead, the Gods dead, the oracles dead, the crystal destroyed and ending his immortallity. Is the best villain of almost any game yes, but cuz of the lacking of info and few scenes... (not even a singel CGI for him)... kinda made him look as any random villain. Hope he gets a DLC or something where we can get to know more about his story and intentions, with some CGI of him.
Actually the crystal stays, thats how the scourge has ended (sun rising in the end). The crystal still "shines its light" however the Lucis bloodline has ended. Exactly what Ardyn wanted. And yah, very poor portrayal by Square of an otherwise excellent villain. DLC will not do enough justice to his character, but should still be something neat
Ugh, ffs, the campfire scene happens the night before the final fight. Noctis just isn't wearing the ring for w/e reason or the dev screwed up and forgot to include it. The camping spot is shown in the montage of the (real) world moving on after Ardyn's defeat. Maybe the game is tricking us and including shots of the afterlife and real world? No, Noct's friends have very little reaction in the scene where he asks for the picture to take with him, almost as if - "dah dah dun!" - he had already told them he did. So either the campfire scene is the real world before the fight, or his friends took it unbelievably well when Noctis basically implies he's going to die when he asks for the picture.
Joshua Weikel the devs didnt screw up with the ring, if you go replay the final boss just before Noctis heads to the citadel you see him put on the ring which clearly shows that he took it off prior.
He doesn't put on the ring until they enter the citidel. you are completely correct otherwise. The campfire scene is most obviously the night before. there's even a transition which gives it away. How people miss it idunno. It is however quite possible the guys did die afterwards though. We don't see them again after they leave noctis to kill himself though so it would be entirely speculation. makes me wonder what happens to everyone after all is said and done. Wouldn't mind a little extra cutscenes after, maybe in a patch?

That makes it even more nonsense to think the campfire scene happens in the afterlife! And I agree with the last half of what you said too. It is open for debate on whether the friends lived or not, or if Noct can or will be brought back (but he did most certainly die at the end). We just can't say for sure one way or the other.

It's the afterlife. In the scene, Noct is wearing the black suit he had on when confronting Ardyn in the spirit world, not the Kingly Raiment he has on pre Insomnia/during final boss fights.

The campfire scene is not a mystery. It's the last night they camped before entering Insomnia.. I assume they didn't show it before you entered Insomnia because they didn't want you to know Noctis' fate ahead of time.

How did they have no way to defend themselves? They spent 10 years on their own hunting daemons without Noct. Noct doesn't rush to the throne as if he believes their lives are in danger. He trusts they will carry on and stand tall once he's gone. Also the daemons are gone once Noct dies.
The biggest detail to note is that the Daemons didn't just instantly die, the return of light takes some time, so from the second Noctis died on, the three lose their abilities to use their weapons and such. They wouldn't have a way to defend themselves, so unless they found a way to flee from the city without getting killed, I would assume they had passed.
I believed when Noctis told them to "Walk tall", it meant that they fought till the end aka until they left no energy or power to fight. Plus the iron giants were tough brats, evidently seen in Noctis' dreamscape. But when I saw them standing beside Noctis, I assumed they were dead... well, FFXV did really make me cry :(
Final Fantasy 15 is the best and most beautiful game i have every played. This game made me feel things for these characters. At the end of the game I felt happy for them when noct and luna got married and I felt sad when lunafreya died in altissia and when ignis became blind. No game has ever made me be happy and sad for the characters. Truly this is the best game I have ever played. 10/10 will play again.

It's amazing to me how well this game sticks it's landing after such a messy third act. Possibly one of the best endings for any video game I've played.
Derezedd depends on how you look at it. Ardyn was wiped out of existence while Noct remained forever with his intended, I'd say Noct glt the better end of the deal. but you're right, Ardyn's goal was accomplished, he got his vengeance but at cost of his existence though.
dont forget ardyn wanted to die too, he hated his immortality and needed a lucian king to sacrifice themselves to finally end him, thats why he helped noct every step of the way building him up just so ardyn could finally know peace. Ardyn won, he got revenge on his bloodline and finally died afterwords.
Not really a win-win. Ardyn wanted to die and end the Lucis bloodline. Noctis was just a product to tie loose ends. He had to die which definitely means he didn't win this entire plot, he was assuming a life as being the king and married to Luna. This is perhaps the most tragic FF plot I have encountered aside from X.

The gameplay itself was dragging than just moving on to the whole story.... Not to mention the story isn't even completed in one set, we have Galdious, Prompto and Ignis episodes, we have the anime, we have the movie, and so on...it's like a puzzle , but you need to find the peices first.
Nicolas the gladiolus, prompto, Ignis dlc doesn’t add much more to the main story. Those are parts which are solely meant to get us to understand the side characters more. The only legit things that were a “must watch” was the movie and anime (though questionable)
True. Though I think ep Prompto held an answer in regards of making MTs and how it ties in with Ardyn, showing a possible manupulation in making them with the use of daemon juice. I was greatly disappinted however, there was little to none about Nifielhelm's background...
More or less I understand the ending. Obviously the timeline is all over the place but my preferred ending was : The last time they all seen each other is when Ignis said "Godspeed and take care". And the rest live, fending off the daemons, while Noctis died, like he was supposed to. Noctis reunited with Luna in death, this is pretty straightforward. The campfire scene is after he was awakened from the crystal. Let me believe that, because I felt like the rest living in some kind of immortal/limbo is kinda unfair to them. "An eternity" is merely referring to 10 years time of Noctis in the crystal. And in some way, maybe in death. Noctis reliving his memories with his friends, that explain "It's finally over" and then the beginning is heard. TL:DR, this is only MY interpretation of the ending, it's a good conclusion to their story, even when the King need to die
Noctis's life was short-lived. But throughout that short life, he had the best experiences anyone could ever ask for. Therefore I think that is why he had a clear conscience to his deathly fate. Or at least that's what I like to think.

But yeah, I thought the game's plot was solid, even if the ending was sad.
I've finished the game around 5 times, and I still would absolutely love to play it again. The episodes we've been given have really fixed the game alongside the royal pack. It truly has become one of the better final fantasies.
It was a very mature, moving and thoughtful ending. I feel it's a masterpiece. The story stayed with me for days. I really appreciate the character building so we really truly feel that brotherly bond of the four. Though Noctis was destined to fulfill the prophecy, it was thanks to the devotion of his three friends. In the end I felt lucky for Noctis to have had friends like Ignis, Gladiolus and Prompto.
noctis indeed was heavily burdened but he admirably fulfilled his duty as a strong king of kings... I got to say this game truly made me experience an amazing journey of emotions, happy, sad, helpless, and then a satisfying feeling of power and "kinghoodness". then sad again of course
When you play as Noctis that came back after 10 years, there is only title music playing all the time , little slowed , remixed but that is the moment when you stopped running and you just walk and enjoy the nostalgia because all this was making you prepared for what is coming next

You shed some light in the afterlife for Noct and Luna and also made a point that the 3 friends might survived in the end, remembering that they were then very experienced and could fend off by themselfs very well without Noct's powers. Withouth those realizations, the ending would 've been unbearably sad! What a relief! Subscribed!

I just finished the game, it is very emotional, in tears at the end. Considering the flaws of the game, i think ff15 will still be looked back fondly in the future. Overall it is a worthwile experience, forget the game reviews, play this now.
Okay, so everybody gets a picture of Cindy and they usually save it. By the end of the final chapter, when you ask Prompto for a picture, that picture of Cindy is the first thing you see. And a lot of players pick this pic because they're either nostalgic of the first chapter, or they just have the hots for Cindy. They pick this but this is the image that Noct would give Luna as she looks at it very dramatically. It ruins the whole scene but yeah, I saw a lot of the SAME thing happen to so many players.
I feel so bad for Noctis after everything even though he did get to be with Luna 😢. I'm already having trouble not crying on my way to the last chapter and it keeps making me think of Crisis Core when you have to fight in while you remember all the good times with other people. Not good at dealing with this stuff lol. But it's a fantastic game and Ardyn has become one of my favourite villains too. I personally think Ignis, Gladio and Prompto are still alive.
i think Ignis, Gladio, and Prompto died at that part where they try to protect the front of the tower from being invaded so Noct could finish his duties.. because at the end where it shows a black screen while they are all talking and blah (3:38), Prompto says these things happen, and Ignis says that they let themselves get carried away. Maybe Gladio is the only one alive since Noct says "Gladio, do me a favor amd push this by yourself", and Prompto says "You wont even notice if we just let go". I love this game so much, though it is very emotional at some points.
During the camp fire scene Noctis makes a reference to making his peace. It's safe to assume that this is a reference to his fate, he knows he's about to die. My theory is that that scene either takes place right before they return to Lucius, or right after defeating Ardyn. Considering the final end scene where Noctis is siting on the throne with Luna, I don't think that Gladio, Ignis and Pronto, died along with him. It seems that scene would have been very different. If nothing else his friends would have been at the foot of the throne.
Could someone please explain the story regarding the Armiger?? the story says that it´s a power that only to the Luci Caelum bloodline is able to to wield, (the phantomswords) and that the swords is crystal energy inherited from each previous king. To this part I understad but the thing is that when you collect the royal arms they are added to your armiger powers, so my question is do you need to collect royal arms to get armiger or is the armiger inherited? Cuz Regis and Ardyn also wield the armiger(phantomswords) so do that mean that they have also have collected royal arms or is it simple a power you inherit by being of royal blood and you just have it?
I assume that they can conjure random weapons through armiger but then they can also conjure specific Royal Arms that they probably all had to visit tombs to ask for the Royal weapons
I think that the problem is that the weapons shouldnt disappear from the tomb when Noctis get the power, he should get the phantom to his arminger power but not the sword itself flying and turning into crystals like we see in the game.
I think I may have come up with a solution and that is when a king die, his soul is in the crystal and his powers and wisdom is in the lucii, and when you become the new king the crystal grants you the armiger (the phantomswords of the old kings cuz as you are the crystals protector, but in Noctis case he also needs the old kings swords in physical form aswell and when he collects them from the former king, their soul is now bound to Noctis to lend him his power, so in simple way, you have the armiger, but you need the power of the old kings bound to your soul to
Armiger is the ability of Lucian King bloodline - therefore, Ardyn, Regis, & Noctis all can have it. And I believe it has no connection to the crystal.
Carolina the armiger let's noctis use all the royal arms on a last ditch attempt to win and the more weapons u have the more powerful it is and since all the kings were his family and Ardyn is like his great great great great great great uncle cause Ardyn can warp on the final fight before noctis dies and u both use all your ancestors weapons so it is a bloodline thing like let's say ur family were sages or people with different eye colors it would be ur family only to have that no outsiders or friends can use it that is the armiger
1st question: noctis is the 14th in the line right? meaning there were 13 kings before him (including his father). Ardyn was indeed the 1st which means noctis is really number 15... at the wedding afterlife scene we see "cxiv"... c=100, so did ardyn ruled for 100 generations before being replaced? 2nd question, im sure that in the game they said 13 royal tombs...but one of those royal arms is his fathers(there is no tomb yet and another was held by luna (maybe she got it from a tomb or something)... but there were never 13 tombs since his father just died....right? finally at the end where all 13 kings (blue spirits) kill ardyn, why isnt noctis joining with his engin/ultimate Blade?
seems to me they re only counting the last 13 kings..but dont explain why..then again, they dont explain so much.... did Cor said 13 royal tombs or only 13 royal weapons, don t remember and those are 2 diferent things.... at the end, when Noctis finally kills Ardyn in the after life, we see him as him self so if he also was one of the kings we would have double Noctis :)
Apparently Regis is actually the 113th descendant of the Lucis Caelum line. The only reason why I know this is because it appeared in a loading screen for me once in the game and I have the collector's strategy guide which lists a lot of lore and character relations.
Ardyn is a distant relative of Noctis, which is why he can also use armiger and summon the kings weapons as it a blood line ability. Was also confirmed by Ray Chase.
No it is not. Ardyn himself states in the original dub that Izunia is indeed his surname. He should have been renamed a Lucis Caelum, but he was never crowned king so he remained 'Izunia' while his brother took the throne and became the founder king. The English dub has taken liberties en masse in this game and made ambiguous hints where none are due raising questions in place of facts. The English dub, while having great voice actors, seems to be the worst written dub of them all.
Where's the scene from 0:33 from? I finished the game and I don't remember that. Is it from the day one patch that added scenes? Because my PS4 has an error code that doesn't let me connect to my home wifi (but other people's is fine idk why) and so I never downloaded the patch.

I don't know. In my opinion Noctis didn't sacrificed himself to go to the beyond to end with Ardyn. Maybe he just used the power of the kings to overcome death and come back safely. And what I interpreted watching the ending cutscenes, when the light came back to Lucis was that Noctis fulfilled the prophecy to be the king that would vanquish evil. And once he used the power of kings to go to the beyond to kill Ardyn and come back, he got a happy ending alive. Near the stairs to the throne there is his name as proclaimed king, and this made me believe that he and Luna are alive and well, not in the beyond or something. The fact of falling asleep, in my opinion was that they finally got peace, and the cure for his insomnia and the Insomnia City. :)

I personally think it went more or less similar to the game but with a huge change. With Ardyn now officially gone for good, Ardyn's brother (can't remember his name) takes the throne without killing his brother, since he brother never existed. In this timeline the star scourge doesn't exist, there still deamons that do appear during the night tho. The timeline continues similar to the game, but with a few changes, the Niffs arent bad as their king, Aedolas (once again can't remember his name), focus on keeping peace with the other nations. Now to Noctis marriage, instead of his father sending him out of the country to save him, its their friends (Gladio, Prompto, Ignis and maybe even Iris joins with them) who convince him to go for a trip, with support of his father to get his son to know the land he will rule and to also get him out of his comfort zone. After a while, Noctis and Luna do met at Altissia and marry, strengthen the relations between Tenebrae and Lucis. Maybe even with niflheim, since Altissia may still be Niffs territory. Maybe during the trip, Noct, his friends and Iris (who would act as the main healer) got the blessing from the siderians/gods (except maybe Leviathan because Altissia going to crap aint good)
Again yours is only a speculation, I won't believe Noctis and Luna died because it's not clear. And it hasn't been confirmed by the developers or by Tabata himself. The ending is open to interpretation so think want you want but do not force people to believe in this theory cuz it could be also the opposite of what you say. PERSONALLY I believe Noctis and Lunafreya got resurrected by the kings of Lucis for having defeated Ardyn and for having fulfilled their destiny. And it would make much more sense, why? Simple if you watched the movie Kingsglaive you know that the Ring of Lucii can be used by everyone but only those from the Royal Blood can use it without making the life sacrifice. Though the sacrifice was the only way to travel in the Beyond (which is NOT the afterlife but the Heart of the Crystal) to defeat Ardyn forever. He managed to do that and as reward he got resurrected with his wife. Point. This ending would make much more sense to the game, otherwise we have to wait the official announcements by the developers or the story updates to know it for sure. Just this dear people: do not believe in what this videos say because nothing is yet confirmed.

Sincerely i don't think Regis knew something about this, maybe a little, surely it was Luna that knew more about this destiny matter as a shaman. Also both in game and the movie is not clear why Noctis is the Chosen One that "has to die" to bring light in the world, makes no sense to me. Who decided it?? If this depends on the Lucian royal line why Regis is not another Chosen One ?? Why Noctis has to make this sacrifice if also his father had the same royal blood as him, again doesn't make sense...I think Regis wanted only to protect his son as long as he could but eventually failed cuz of the fucking empire. Although maybe he knew about Ardyn but didn't knew how to stop him. You can see that there are too many plot holes, there are no detailed explanations and I hate games that force me to do actions I don't understand, it's like I'm not playing at all. Only one thing we can do at the moment: waiting the plot updates/fixes.
My best guess as to why Noctis is the chosen one is because Ardyn is too powerful, to a point any kings before Noctis, won't be enough, as Bahamut mentioned and I quote "A power greater than even that of the Six, purifying all by the Light of the Crystal and the glaives of rulers past". The key phrase being "and the glaives of rulers past." would suggest that even if one past king decides to not help, the plan will not work. So it couldn't have been Regis, nor the past kings. It could be the future king of Lucis after Noctis too but we'd be having the same debate. Now on the subject of Noctis and Luna, you believe they got resurrected, while I don't discount that idea, but you said them dying doesn't make sense and not clear, and believe in resurrection, as far as I can tell, there's nothing in the game nor Kingsglaive movie that suggests the past kings of lucis having the power of resurrection.
trigien The fact is that I don't think the so called "Beyond" is the afterlife but more another dimension (the Daemon Dimension of Ardyn) or the dimension of the kings (when Nyx wears the ring he travels to another dimension and I think that is the place where Noctis has to go, after all Ardyn was also a king in the past). While a common person can wear the ring but at cost of his life, Noctis doesn't have to give his life to use the power because he is from Royal Blood. Although the kings having the power of resurrection is my theory of course, I thought this because they seemed like almost gods thus they have the power. The truth is that i don't like funeral stories I wanted an happy ending also because I wanted more games on this universe that has an awesome lore. With them dying we probably won't see any kind of sequel. I'm very sad because they managed to build an amazing fantasy "realistic" universe only to rush everything from chapter 9 to the end. It could've been done better, with more immersion more characters interactions, but just no they ended up everything like that, they literally fucked up. I'm just angry because i've spent 70€ for an incomplete game. Now i have to spend even more for DLCs, I think it's pretty unacceptable. Those that are saying this game is perfect are clearly blind. Although let's wait the updates maybe they will fix the story and encourage me to continue after chapter 8.
I most definitely doubt that Noctis and especially Luna did not die at the end of this game. Tabata has proven to be a ruthless director and has stated that this game was to have a bitter-sweet ending- I believe this implies that light is restored to the world but at a high price- the life of the person in the prophecy aka Noctis. Bahamut states that "only at the throne can the chosen receive it, and only at the cost of his own life: his own" and then goes on to say "the blood price must be paid". He then finally states "Many sacrificed all for the king: so must the King sacrifice himself for all." I feel like the final line is the big punch here. Knowing what kind of character Noct is, I don't think he would be too pleased with being revived after so many people died for him just so he could have his happily ever after with Luna. Even if the kings of Lucis wanted to revive the pair, it just wouldn't have added up with the prophecy that Bahamut tells Noctis in his decade-long slumber. If Noctis and Luna were to be revived, Bahamut likely would have told him about it as it would have been a part of the prophecy. I believe that they wouldn't leave such a crucial detail out. The kings who are so small in comparison to Bahamut, an Astral would not likely have such a major impact without the prophecy stating it- I just don't think the writers as thorough as they are would just gloss over such a crucial detail for the ending of the game. Also; just a more minor nit-picky thing- why would Noctis and Luna just decide to chill in the throne room in the wedding attire to just kiss and "have a nap"? The room is still ruined in areas such as the upper left corner with a large amount of rubble just beside the railing of the stairs, entailing that no one has returned to insomnia to repair such things but it wouldn't add up with all the decorations such as the flowers in vases decorating the walkway and the petals that slowly drift towards the floor. Why would the room be decked out in such lovely decorations but are like to the left be left uncleaned and pushed aside just outside of our pairs view? I can only think that this is them, imagining a beautiful wedding that they never were able to have and blocking out the true reality by not sparing it a glance. We've also not been provided with an explanation as to how their attire has changed since the last time we saw them. As for the part with Luna taking her place for the logo of the game and Noctis joining her, their position and expressions seem to be entailing something completely different than being alive and happy. Their bodies are relaxing against one another, their eyes and lips meeting each other and then finally resting together; their eyes to never open again as they rest peacefully, finally together. Rather than being happy, they more so look to be at peace. Finally- Noctis being alive and looking the way he is would imply he has reverted to a younger age than what he was when he restored light to the world. This would mean the past kings would have to have revived Noctis to match the age that he was when he was supposed to marry our lovely oracle an entire decade ago. Once again, this would have at least been somewhat hinted at in the prophecy. In summary, MY OPINION on the matter is that there are far too many unanswered questions to imply of them both being revived by the past Lucian kings. From a creative standpoint, I don't see them putting so much emphasis on Noctis being delivered the final blow by his father either is he was to just be revived and to get married to the oracle to now live happily ever after. This would betray what the prophecy has foretold and allow the pair to return whilst those that perished in this god awful time must remain dead. This would be a much sadder ending, knowing that those that weren't important had to die for the sake of Noctis, not knowing he would just return because banishing Ardyn wasn't worthy enough to not only revive him- a Lucian king- but also Luna- a damn Oracle who has extreme power. The trade wouldn't be of equal exchange. Very quickly- from other comments you have left, it seems as though you were displeased saying that "I'm just angry because i've spent 70€ for an incomplete game" and I completely agree several major aspects of this game were rushed and I most definitely don't believe this game is perfect, I do believe however that you seem to generally be disappointed with this game. I'm really not into guessing what the ending of a game is. I want the developer to be very clear about what their vision of the story is and I want an ending that just makes sense clear as day! Instead of wondering whether the Luna+Noct scene at the end is taking place in the afterlife, or if it's simply a scene of what could have been had nobody died, or if Noct and Luna actually are alive at the end somehow: How hard would it have been to have the bodies of Noct and Luna fade out, pan the camera out, no ascension decorations any more... boom! It's just a vision. Anyways... pretty clear that they're all dead at the end. Let's see what future DLC may tell us I guess.
You will find this stupid, but I actually really, really love the fact that you have to search for your answers. I loved the game even more after reading over 300 comments and explanations of what happened. I'm still confused, but it's really interesting to see what about "thought" how the game ended. It's such a beautiful story, and I agree with you, some clear answers would be great. I believe they're all dead and the scene is just what could have happened if nobody died. But who knows...

As much as you dont want to believe it, the scene with luna and noctis kissing at the end isnt real. Its a fantasy. Noctis dissipates just like ardyn after he destroys him in the afterlife.
This is incorrect. Noct and Luna are present in the afterlife known as the Astral Realm at the end of the game. This is the whole point of the character Arydn, as his entire motivations stem from being shut out of the afterlife by the Gods. He's unable to enter the Astral Realm. It's real.
That bit about the campfire is irrellevant because he put the ring on when arriving at Insomnia. Also the conversation they had at the campfire consists of Noctis admitting he has to die.

Yeah from what I've read (which should obviously be taken with a grain of salt) they were forced to push out the game this year because of contracts expiring. which isn't really a good excuse considering they had all this time to get their act together with it's development. But meh I still loved the game to pieces to be completely honest and the ending literally sent me on a feels train. Not the best game in the series but IMO still a decently solid addition.

Why wouldn't people be confused? They put the campfire scene at the end of the credits after you beat the game for cryin' out loud. Then they roll, "Stage 2," credits.
It was more effective there since you now know Noctis is dead and at least before he died he told his friends how he felt about them. Things weren't left unsaid. This kind of thing happens all the time in movies and other games. Not very confusing.

Well they have their own dedicated episode DLC for the season pass. We might know their backstory more. And beside Square enix decided to have Final Fantasy Media Universe (or whatever they like to called it) which consist of movie, anime series, etc... for them to avoid making multiple games for the entire universe. there is a movie and a anime series already release beforehand that talk about their stories.
After all the toxic hates we can only hope for a remake, I think... Maybe after 20+ years like FFVII. Kind of hurts me as this game is special to me and in fact could have been so much better. Guess I'll just be grateful..
As for me, I like to think that Gladio, Prompto and Ignis made it out alive. I doubt they would've missed their best friend's afterlife wedding if they died as well. The throne hall is empty except for Luna and Noct after all.

Iggy, Gladio, and Prompto are definitely alive. They all agreed to be with Noctis in spirit (and Iggy said this before the final battle lol) and they definitely showed up to help Noctis in the afterlife... God, I cried myself to sleep after beating this game as soon as New Years Day hit. This game told a beautifully tragic story. I chose the picture of the squad and supporting characters at Caem before they set sail for Altissia.

Ardyn is probably the best FF villain since HE got what he wanted in the end. Everything was planned from the start of his downfall. He knew Noctis will die with him. This was a bittersweet ending to this game. Hopefully the end of the scourge dawns a new era for Talcott and Iris. JUSTICE FOR JARED HAVE BEEN SERVED.

I will have to disagree with you on this. Just cause a villian gets what they want doesn't make them the best. The scale of Ardyn's revenge is so small and 80% of the people who play this game won't even understand fully why he was after Noctis, unless they found and read each of those Oracle books that talks about the first King of light.
Caius Ballad from XIII-2 was also one of those "I-win-if-I-die" villians, and he was awful too, even though his goal was all space and time itself.
In The Dark Ardyn Lucis Caelum is a great villain, not the best. He wanted to end his family's line after his jealous brother stabbed him in the back and became the king instead.
I agree, in my opinion he is on par with Kefka, they are my two favorite villains from the series because Kefka is truly evil beyond any villain from any game ever, while Ardyn is both a slave of destiny, and yet at the same time, one of the most intricate minded characters the series has seen in a long time. (again this is my opinion)
Everyone missed that Ardyn wanted to bring darkness to the world - and in the end it isn't fulfilled.
And Ardyn doesn't necessarily have to know that there's a certain way to end his immortality. His case was unique, the first in the world (of FFXV), so I don't see how he could formulate the cure for himself. While he indeed said he will wait in _beyond_ to Noctis, he was still being resistant when Noctis delivering the final blow - it's not like that he accept the fact that he will be foreverly annihilated in peace.

Give me a chance to explain... Here are my interpretations.
CAMP SCENE
Clearly set before they left for Isomnia to finish Ardyn. Few examples to explain why this is the case; The sky is still plagued by darkness for one, the fact the final picture in the credits is the campfire scene, therefore cannot be after the end game. For me, the best point, the fact that they all know they will all die as an event of the final fight. This is a beautiful scene because Noctis knows he must sacrifice himself and needs to let the guys know, but it's even difficult to let them know that they will also die. The beauty in it is that individually, Prompto, Ignis and Gladio all know that the King must die but they also will die as well individually.
Why?
EVERYONE IS DEAD
Noctis is told by Bahumut in short that he must sacrifice himself to restore light to Eos. But with Noctis dead, so will his companions as the abilities to draw weapons and magic to the fight will vanish as this is something they have inherited from Noct. They protect the King from reaching the throne room to do so, after Noct takes Knights of The Round, he dies, therefore alleviating the guys the ability to fight. This is shown in the Crystal when Noct finishes Arydn off, they are behind him when Noct delivers the final blow alongside Regis and Luna who are also dead which means they are dead too.
The cutscene with Noct and Luna is beyond the fact that Luna, Regis and every other character except the fantastic four knows that Noct will be the one to sacrifice himself to save the world, but it's a scene where they are both at peace and can find what would of been a hoax had it not been for the fact they actually do love each other. The wedding was planned to allow Luna to guide Noctis into the end and give him the ring. Although they did love each other so that scene takes place in the afterlife aka astral realm.
ARYDN WINS - ENDING
The ending does what all good endings should do, they should make you laugh, make you cry, they should answer questions while leaving more questions in its wake. It'd be pretty boring and would make me not even consider writing this had it been straight forward. It's gotta get people talking. In the words of Will Ferrell "It's provocative, it gets the people going"

Arydn is an amazing character, he was both the Oracle chosen by the Gods and the bloodline to the throne who was wrongfully turned into a daemon and evicted of his throne. The Gods knew this and despite granted him the power to heal, didn't allow him into the astral realm after he passed, thus becoming immortal. His only goal was to destroy the bloodline, ring and crystal which was once rightfully his. In turn, he actually succeeded. When he is beat by Noctis he mutters "I will await you in the beyond" This is the last time he knows he will keep his human form and will then become a daemon. Arydyn knows that Noctis will have to sacrifice himself to destroy all daemons that he kept inside. Arydyn is the smartest villain, even in death he has succeeded. It's a shame that in death, he couldn't be sure that he had got what he wanted but knowing Noctis is now dead, we as an audience know.
GREAT GAME

All of that I agree with, it could have been better. But in all it's a great work of art. I would love to see and know more about the characters which will obviously come in DLC. I personally want an Arydyn DLC, his downfall as a King, who exactly betrayed him. His scheme with the Empire.
8/10 for me, I love the franchise and this is another classic. Could it of had more, of course it could of. But I've loved my play through and with be playing it again without a doubt.
Pretty sure his friends are absolutely not dead. When completing his destiny it is pretty much assured that the daemons are purged as well. Seeing his friends in the after life is just a cliche anime trope, signifying that he is never alone, compared to Ardyn.

Basically everyone died including humanity. The end. Basically the entire thing was completely pointless.
His friends are dead. They actually appear in the void just like Luna, we already know Noctis was thinking of all his loved ones before but they still appeared there.
I'd like to think this is what happened. His friends fought off the demons while he journeyed to the afterlife and stuff. They were there "in spirit" like they suggested. And now he's living happily ever after with Luna. His friends survived because the light returned before they were killed by demons. As you've probably seen, the light returns as a result of Noctis's actions. I think Ignis Prompto and Glad are still alive I think.
In the credits when "stand by me" started playing the emotions hit me hard.

But it's not correctly presented. It has a lot of lore I give them dat but the story felt chopped and rushed from what originally was intented. This is why next year we are getting the storyline patch with more dialogues, character perspective and cutscenes.
Im not even touching FFXV again till every shrapnel of update and DLC has been released. Jjust for this very reason.

I watched the movie so I didn't see as many errors with the plot as others did but chapter 13 was bland as hell. Other than that I thought the game was great if I hadn't watched the movie though I'd agree more with it not being correctly presented. By the end you shouldn't still have to ask questions they should've answered throughout the game.

You missed one theory: The reset theory. Noct erases Ardyn from history, and thereby undoes all of it, so the end is actually the marriage they should have had, in the reset timeline.
Worst idea. Renders everything we did up to that point pointless.

Well, it wasn't my theory, but I don't think it completely ruins the game AND Ardyn's words actually suggest that this is what will happen. Resetting the timeline was exactly the goal of FFI. Even if it got reset in FFXV (which I was simply saying was a theory that existed, not that it was MY theory), they didn't lose it ALL because they have the photo.
This has always been my understanding of the final throne scene with Luna and Noctis. Why else have the voice over from Regis to Luna regarding the ring unless Regis knew that eventually Noct would succeed and Luna would receive the letter? I've seen it explained that the throne was decorated in commemoration for Noct's death but that never made sense as it clearly looked like wedding decorations to me. Plus, nearly every Final Fantasy has an ending in which it appears the main character has died but ends with one final scene that offers a "well maybe they didn't really die". So I'm agreeing completely with the reset timeline theory.

They were illusions yes and Iedolas is there, which for me it gives another meaning to of why they are hanging there. Ppl think its to "provoke" Noctis, which i also thought in the first place, but if that was the case, why would Iedolas be there? (Iedolas is the one at the left most of the screen). So i think thats just a scene that shows us as players (maybe to Noctis too) that Ardyn was somehow a puppet master. He is just showing the 4 persons that helped him to get his "dream/revenge" come true and end with his life.
Iedolas was the one that helped him to become an important person in Niflheim, Regis the one that took down the wall of Insomnia and ended with the Lucis family, Nyx being the one that protected the ring in the Niflheim battle and Luna being the one that delivers the ring to Noctis. Noctis would be the last "puppet" that is the one that also finishes with the Lucis generations and at the same time, ends with the immortality of Ardyn. So Ardyn was showing the 4 puppets in the chain like saying to Noctis "you are next (or the last) puppet".
In other words... the 4 ppl hanging could be a meaning of the 4 "puppets" Ardyn used to complete his revenge and his biggest wish of ending with his immortality.
I could be grabbing to deep into it... but is just the only way it would make sense on why Iedolas is hanging there too.
Puppet master is accurate, but however faultless Ardyn's plan was, everything was already predestined. Regis and Luna know that Noct has been chosen to die and end the scourge. They basically fulfilled their duty (Regis getting him to safety, Luna getting him the ring and awakening the summons). Iedolas was a real puppet however, but how can you not be tempted by the crystal and your military and technical superiority? All Ardyn had to do was keep pushing Noct all the way tas that was the only way for both of them to die and also end the plague. Easy win for Ardyn, greatest villain of FF

Agree, they fullfied their duty (Regis. Luna, Noctis, the ancestors, the gods), but even tho they completed their duty. Only Ardyn wins, cuz he is the one getting everything he wanted, the Lucis blood dead, the Gods dead, the oracles dead, the crystal destroyed and ending his immortallity.
Is the best villain of almost any game yes, but cuz of the lacking of info and few scenes... (not even a singel CGI for him)... kinda made him look as any random villain. Hope he gets a DLC or something where we can get to know more about his story and intentions, with some CGI of him.
Actually the crystal stays, thats how the scourge has ended (sun rising in the end). The crystal still "shines its light" however the Lucis bloodline has ended. Exactly what Ardyn wanted. And yah, very poor portrayal by Square of an otherwise excellent villain. DLC will not do enough justice to his character, but should still be something neat
Ugh, ffs, the campfire scene happens the night before the final fight. Noctis just isn't wearing the ring for w/e reason or the dev screwed up and forgot to include it. The camping spot is shown in the montage of the (real) world moving on after Ardyn's defeat. Maybe the game is tricking us and including shots of the afterlife and real world? No, Noct's friends have very little reaction in the scene where he asks for the picture to take with him, almost as if - "dah dah dun!" - he had already told them he did.
So either the campfire scene is the real world before the fight, or his friends took it unbelievably well when Noctis basically implies he's going to die when he asks for the picture.
Joshua Weikel the devs didnt screw up with the ring, if you go replay the final boss just before Noctis heads to the citadel you see him put on the ring which clearly shows that he took it off prior.

He doesn't put on the ring until they enter the citidel. you are completely correct otherwise. The campfire scene is most obviously the night before. there's even a transition which gives it away. How people miss it idunno. It is however quite possible the guys did die afterwards though. We don't see them again after they leave noctis to kill himself though so it would be entirely speculation. makes me wonder what happens to everyone after all is said and done. Wouldn't mind a little extra cutscenes after, maybe in a patch?

And I agree with the last half of what you said too. It is open for debate on whether the friends lived or not, or if Noct can or will be brought back (but he did most certainly die at the end). We just can't say for sure one way or the other.

It's the afterlife. In the scene, Noct is wearing the black suit he had on when confronting Ardyn in the spirit world, not the Kingly Raiment he has on pre Insomnia/during final boss fights.
Patrick Baird and prompt has his old clothes on? I don't believe it is. I think it is right before insomnia. That's at the stairs it wasn't so emotional. he already said his goodbyes, they all did at the final camp.

The campfire scene is not a mystery. It's the last night they camped before entering Insomnia.. I assume they didn't show it before you entered Insomnia because they didn't want you to know Noctis' fate ahead of time.

Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens: If they were it won't make sense why they appear in the void along with Regis and Luna who are also dead, they died fighting the daemons as they no way to defend themselves once Noctis was dead
How did they have no way to defend themselves? They spent 10 years on their own hunting daemons without Noct. Noct doesn't rush to the throne as if he believes their lives are in danger. He trusts they will carry on and stand tall once he's gone. Also the daemons are gone once Noct dies.
The biggest detail to note is that the Daemons didn't just instantly die, the return of light takes some time, so from the second Noctis died on, the three lose their abilities to use their weapons and such. They wouldn't have a way to defend themselves, so unless they found a way to flee from the city without getting killed, I would assume they had passed.
I believed when Noctis told them to "Walk tall", it meant that they fought till the end aka until they left no energy or power to fight. Plus the iron giants were tough brats, evidently seen in Noctis' dreamscape. But when I saw them standing beside Noctis, I assumed they were dead... well, FFXV did really make me cry :(
I believe they are alive.. I left them with 99 phoenix downs when Noctis walked to the throne. They just can't be that clueless, right? :-/
Final Fantasy 15 is the best and most beautiful game i have every played. This game made me feel things for these characters. At the end of the game I felt happy for them when noct and luna got married and I felt sad when lunafreya died in altissia and when ignis became blind. No game has ever made me be happy and sad for the characters. Truly this is the best game I have ever played. 10/10 will play again.

It's amazing to me how well this game sticks it's landing after such a messy third act. Possibly one of the best endings for any video game I've played.

Derezedd depends on how you look at it. Ardyn was wiped out of existence while Noct remained forever with his intended, I'd say Noct glt the better end of the deal. but you're right, Ardyn's goal was accomplished, he got his vengeance but at cost of his existence though.
dont forget ardyn wanted to die too, he hated his immortality and needed a lucian king to sacrifice themselves to finally end him, thats why he helped noct every step of the way building him up just so ardyn could finally know peace. Ardyn won, he got revenge on his bloodline and finally died afterwords.

Not really a win-win. Ardyn wanted to die and end the Lucis bloodline. Noctis was just a product to tie loose ends. He had to die which definitely means he didn't win this entire plot, he was assuming a life as being the king and married to Luna. This is perhaps the most tragic FF plot I have encountered aside from X.

Very true. The story felt rushed especially in the end. I would've shed tears if the story telling was good. I think Square Enix missed a golden opportunity here, this game could've been extremely moving.

The gameplay itself was dragging than just moving on to the whole story.... Not to mention the story isn't even completed in one set, we have Galdious, Prompto and Ignis episodes, we have the anime, we have the movie, and so on...it's like a puzzle , but you need to find the peices first.
Nicolas the gladiolus, prompto, Ignis dlc doesn’t add much more to the main story. Those are parts which are solely meant to get us to understand the side characters more. The only legit things that were a “must watch” was the movie and anime (though questionable)
True. Though I think ep Prompto held an answer in regards of making MTs and how it ties in with Ardyn, showing a possible manupulation in making them with the use of daemon juice. I was greatly disappinted however, there was little to none about Nifielhelm's background...
More or less I understand the ending. Obviously the timeline is all over the place but my preferred ending was :
The last time they all seen each other is when Ignis said "Godspeed and take care". And the rest live, fending off the daemons, while Noctis died, like he was supposed to.
Noctis reunited with Luna in death, this is pretty straightforward.
The campfire scene is after he was awakened from the crystal. Let me believe that, because I felt like the rest living in some kind of immortal/limbo is kinda unfair to them. "An eternity" is merely referring to 10 years time of Noctis in the crystal.
And in some way, maybe in death. Noctis reliving his memories with his friends, that explain "It's finally over" and then the beginning is heard.
TL:DR, this is only MY interpretation of the ending, it's a good conclusion to their story, even when the King need to die
Noctis's life was short-lived. But throughout that short life, he had the best experiences anyone could ever ask for. Therefore I think that is why he had a clear conscience to his deathly fate. Or at least that's what I like to think.

it is for the most part quite solid. people are just mentally retarded and don't get it. the only part that is partially in contention is the whole ardyn thing.
Address Although that's true, they were advertising the game as a game for FF fans and first timers (its literally the first thing you see when booting up the game), so i think some people thought they might simplify the plot a bit more than the other games. But yeah, I thought the game's plot was solid, even if the ending was sad.
Mcspeed they made the gameplay easy enough for first timers to play also, they didn't make the story easier to understand.
I've finished the game around 5 times, and I still would absolutely love to play it again. The episodes we've been given have really fixed the game alongside the royal pack. It truly has become one of the better final fantasies.
It was a very mature, moving and thoughtful ending. I feel it's a masterpiece. The story stayed with me for days. I really appreciate the character building so we really truly feel that brotherly bond of the four. Though Noctis was destined to fulfill the prophecy, it was thanks to the devotion of his three friends. In the end I felt lucky for Noctis to have had friends like Ignis, Gladiolus and Prompto.
The road trip is just too silly for an ending like this.

When you play as Noctis that came back after 10 years, there is only title music playing all the time , little slowed , remixed but that is the moment when you stopped running and you just walk and enjoy the nostalgia because all this was making you prepared for what is coming next

You shed some light in the afterlife for Noct and Luna and also made a point that the 3 friends might survived in the end, remembering that they were then very experienced and could fend off by themselfs very well without Noct's powers. Giovansiva they're not though it was a flash back. In the camping scene Noctis was explaining to them that he was going to die and that even though he had already accepted his fate, being reunited in the camp with them made it so much harder to accept. If they were all dead there would be no reason for them to cry and this also explains how they new he was going to die before Noctis went to kill himself.

I just finished the game, it is very emotional, in tears at the end. Considering the flaws of the game, i think ff15 will still be looked back fondly in the future. Overall it is a worthwile experience, forget the game reviews, play this now.
i personally think that ignis, gladio and prompto are still alive, and the campfire scene was noctis' spirit saying goodbye to them

Okay, so everybody gets a picture of Cindy and they usually save it. By the end of the final chapter, when you ask Prompto for a picture, that picture of Cindy is the first thing you see. And a lot of players pick this pic because they're either nostalgic of the first chapter, or they just have the hots for Cindy. They pick this but this is the image that Noct would give Luna as she looks at it very dramatically. It ruins the whole scene but yeah, I saw a lot of the SAME thing happen to so many players.

I feel so bad for Noctis after everything even though he did get to be with Luna 😢. I'm already having trouble not crying on my way to the last chapter and it keeps making me think of Crisis Core when you have to fight in while you remember all the good times with other people. Not good at dealing with this stuff lol. But it's a fantastic game and Ardyn has become one of my favourite villains too.

i think Ignis, Gladio, and Prompto died at that part where they try to protect the front of the tower from being invaded so Noct could finish his duties.. because at the end where it shows a black screen while they are all talking and blah (3:38), Prompto says these things happen, and Ignis says that they let themselves get carried away. Maybe Gladio is the only one alive since Noct says "Gladio, do me a favor amd push this by yourself", and Prompto says "You wont even notice if we just let go". I love this game so much, though it is very emotional at some points.

During the camp fire scene Noctis makes a reference to making his peace. It's safe to assume that this is a reference to his fate, he knows he's about to die. My theory is that that scene either takes place right before they return to Lucius, or right after defeating Ardyn. Considering the final end scene where Noctis is siting on the throne with Luna, I don't think that Gladio, Ignis and Pronto, died along with him. It seems that scene would have been very different. If nothing else his friends would have been at the foot of the throne.
Could someone please explain the story regarding the Armiger??
the story says that it´s a power that only to the Luci Caelum bloodline is able to to wield, (the phantomswords) and that the swords is crystal energy inherited from each previous king. To this part I understad but the thing is that when you collect the royal arms they are added to your armiger powers, so my question is do you need to collect royal arms to get armiger or is the armiger inherited? Cuz Regis and Ardyn also wield the armiger(phantomswords) so do that mean that they have also have collected royal arms or is it simple a power you inherit by being of royal blood and you just have it?
I assume that they can conjure random weapons through armiger but then they can also conjure specific Royal Arms that they probably all had to visit tombs to ask for the Royal weapons
I think that the problem is that the weapons shouldnt disappear from the tomb when Noctis get the power, he should get the phantom to his arminger power but not the sword itself flying and turning into crystals like we see in the game.
I think I may have come up with a solution and that is when a king die, his soul is in the crystal and his powers and wisdom is in the lucii, and when you become the new king the crystal grants you the armiger (the phantomswords of the old kings cuz as you are the crystals protector, but in Noctis case he also needs the old kings swords in physical form aswell and when he collects them from the former king, their soul is now bound to Noctis to lend him his power, so in simple way, you have the armiger, but you need the power of the old kings bound to your soul to
Armiger is the ability of Lucian King bloodline - therefore, Ardyn, Regis, & Noctis all can have it. And I believe it has no connection to the crystal.
Carolina the armiger let's noctis use all the royal arms on a last ditch attempt to win and the more weapons u have the more powerful it is and since all the kings were his family and Ardyn is like his great great great great great great uncle cause Ardyn can warp on the final fight before noctis dies and u both use all your ancestors weapons so it is a bloodline thing like let's say ur family were sages or people with different eye colors it would be ur family only to have that no outsiders or friends can use it that is the armiger

1st question: noctis is the 14th in the line right? meaning there were 13 kings before him (including his father). Ardyn was indeed the 1st which means noctis is really number 15...
at the wedding afterlife scene we see "cxiv"... c=100, so did ardyn ruled for 100 generations before being replaced?
2nd question, im sure that in the game they said 13 royal tombs...but one of those royal arms is his fathers(there is no tomb yet and another was held by luna (maybe she got it from a tomb or something)... but there were never 13 tombs since his father just died....right?
finally at the end where all 13 kings (blue spirits) kill ardyn, why isnt noctis joining with his engin/ultimate Blade?

Apparently Regis is actually the 113th descendant of the Lucis Caelum line. The only reason why I know this is because it appeared in a loading screen for me once in the game and I have the collector's strategy guide which lists a lot of lore and character relations.

Ardyn is a distant relative of Noctis, which is why he can also use armiger and summon the kings weapons as it a blood line ability. Was also confirmed by Ray Chase.
No it is not. Ardyn himself states in the original dub that Izunia is indeed his surname. He should have been renamed a Lucis Caelum, but he was never crowned king so he remained 'Izunia' while his brother took the throne and became the founder king. The English dub has taken liberties en masse in this game and made ambiguous hints where none are due raising questions in place of facts. The English dub, while having great voice actors, seems to be the worst written dub of them all.

Where's the scene from 0:33 from? I finished the game and I don't remember that. Is it from the day one patch that added scenes? Because my PS4 has an error code that doesn't let me connect to my home wifi (but other people's is fine idk why) and so I never downloaded the patch.

I don't know. In my opinion Noctis didn't sacrificed himself to go to the beyond to end with Ardyn. Maybe he just used the power of the kings to overcome death and come back safely. And what I interpreted watching the ending cutscenes, when the light came back to Lucis was that Noctis fulfilled the prophecy to be the king that would vanquish evil. And once he used the power of kings to go to the beyond to kill Ardyn and come back, he got a happy ending alive. Near the stairs to the throne there is his name as proclaimed king, and this made me believe that he and Luna are alive and well, not in the beyond or something. The fact of falling asleep, in my opinion was that they finally got peace, and the cure for his insomnia and the Insomnia City. :)

I personally think it went more or less similar to the game but with a huge change.
With Ardyn now officially gone for good, Ardyn's brother (can't remember his name) takes the throne without killing his brother, since he brother never existed. In this timeline the star scourge doesn't exist, there still deamons that do appear during the night tho. The timeline continues similar to the game, but with a few changes, the Niffs arent bad as their king, Aedolas (once again can't remember his name), focus on keeping peace with the other nations. Now to Noctis marriage, instead of his father sending him out of the country to save him, its their friends (Gladio, Prompto, Ignis and maybe even Iris joins with them) who convince him to go for a trip, with support of his father to get his son to know the land he will rule and to also get him out of his comfort zone.
After a while, Noctis and Luna do met at Altissia and marry, strengthen the relations between Tenebrae and Lucis. Maybe even with niflheim, since Altissia may still be Niffs territory.
Maybe during the trip, Noct, his friends and Iris (who would act as the main healer) got the blessing from the siderians/gods (except maybe Leviathan because Altissia going to crap aint good)

Again yours is only a speculation, I won't believe Noctis and Luna died because it's not clear. And it hasn't been confirmed by the developers or by Tabata himself. The ending is open to interpretation so think want you want but do not force people to believe in this theory cuz it could be also the opposite of what you say. PERSONALLY I believe Noctis and Lunafreya got resurrected by the kings of Lucis for having defeated Ardyn and for having fulfilled their destiny. And it would make much more sense, why? Simple if you watched the movie Kingsglaive you know that the Ring of Lucii can be used by everyone but only those from the Royal Blood can use it without making the life sacrifice. Though the sacrifice was the only way to travel in the Beyond (which is NOT the afterlife but the Heart of the Crystal) to defeat Ardyn forever. He managed to do that and as reward he got resurrected with his wife. Point. This ending would make much more sense to the game, otherwise we have to wait the official announcements by the developers or the story updates to know it for sure. Just this dear people: do not believe in what this videos say because nothing is yet confirmed.

Sincerely i don't think Regis knew something about this, maybe a little, surely it was Luna that knew more about this destiny matter as a shaman. Also both in game and the movie is not clear why Noctis is the Chosen One that "has to die" to bring light in the world, makes no sense to me. Who decided it?? If this depends on the Lucian royal line why Regis is not another Chosen One ?? Why Noctis has to make this sacrifice if also his father had the same royal blood as him, again doesn't make sense...I think Regis wanted only to protect his son as long as he could but eventually failed cuz of the fucking empire. Although maybe he knew about Ardyn but didn't knew how to stop him. You can see that there are too many plot holes, there are no detailed explanations and I hate games that force me to do actions I don't understand, it's like I'm not playing at all. Only one thing we can do at the moment: waiting the plot updates/fixes.
My best guess as to why Noctis is the chosen one is because Ardyn is too powerful, to a point any kings before Noctis, won't be enough, as Bahamut mentioned and I quote
"A power greater than even that of the Six, purifying all by the Light of the Crystal and the glaives of rulers past".
The key phrase being "and the glaives of rulers past." would suggest that even if one past king decides to not help, the plan will not work. So it couldn't have been Regis, nor the past kings. It could be the future king of Lucis after Noctis too but we'd be having the same debate.
Now on the subject of Noctis and Luna, you believe they got resurrected, while I don't discount that idea, but you said them dying doesn't make sense and not clear, and believe in resurrection, as far as I can tell, there's nothing in the game nor Kingsglaive movie that suggests the past kings of lucis having the power of resurrection.
trigien The fact is that I don't think the so called "Beyond" is the afterlife but more another dimension (the Daemon Dimension of Ardyn) or the dimension of the kings (when Nyx wears the ring he travels to another dimension and I think that is the place where Noctis has to go, after all Ardyn was also a king in the past). While a common person can wear the ring but at cost of his life, Noctis doesn't have to give his life to use the power because he is from Royal Blood. Although the kings having the power of resurrection is my theory of course, I thought this because they seemed like almost gods thus they have the power. The truth is that i don't like funeral stories I wanted an happy ending also because I wanted more games on this universe that has an awesome lore. With them dying we probably won't see any kind of sequel. I'm very sad because they managed to build an amazing fantasy "realistic" universe only to rush everything from chapter 9 to the end. It could've been done better, with more immersion more characters interactions, but just no they ended up everything like that, they literally fucked up. I'm just angry because i've spent 70€ for an incomplete game. Now i have to spend even more for DLCs, I think it's pretty unacceptable. Those that are saying this game is perfect are clearly blind.
Although let's wait the updates maybe they will fix the story and encourage me to continue after chapter 8.

I most definitely doubt that Noctis and especially Luna did not die at the end of this game. Tabata has proven to be a ruthless director and has stated that this game was to have a bitter-sweet ending- I believe this implies that light is restored to the world but at a high price- the life of the person in the prophecy aka Noctis. Bahamut states that "only at the throne can the chosen receive it, and only at the cost of his own life: his own" and then goes on to say "the blood price must be paid". He then finally states "Many sacrificed all for the king: so must the King sacrifice himself for all." I feel like the final line is the big punch here. Knowing what kind of character Noct is, I don't think he would be too pleased with being revived after so many people died for him just so he could have his happily ever after with Luna.
Even if the kings of Lucis wanted to revive the pair, it just wouldn't have added up with the prophecy that Bahamut tells Noctis in his decade-long slumber. If Noctis and Luna were to be revived, Bahamut likely would have told him about it as it would have been a part of the prophecy. I believe that they wouldn't leave such a crucial detail out. The kings who are so small in comparison to Bahamut, an Astral would not likely have such a major impact without the prophecy stating it- I just don't think the writers as thorough as they are would just gloss over such a crucial detail for the ending of the game.
Also; just a more minor nit-picky thing- why would Noctis and Luna just decide to chill in the throne room in the wedding attire to just kiss and "have a nap"? The room is still ruined in areas such as the upper left corner with a large amount of rubble just beside the railing of the stairs, entailing that no one has returned to insomnia to repair such things but it wouldn't add up with all the decorations such as the flowers in vases decorating the walkway and the petals that slowly drift towards the floor. Why would the room be decked out in such lovely decorations but are like to the left be left uncleaned and pushed aside just outside of our pairs view? I can only think that this is them, imagining a beautiful wedding that they never were able to have and blocking out the true reality by not sparing it a glance.
We've also not been provided with an explanation as to how their attire has changed since the last time we saw them. As for the part with Luna taking her place for the logo of the game and Noctis joining her, their position and expressions seem to be entailing something completely different than being alive and happy. Their bodies are relaxing against one another, their eyes and lips meeting each other and then finally resting together; their eyes to never open again as they rest peacefully, finally together. Rather than being happy, they more so look to be at peace.
Finally- Noctis being alive and looking the way he is would imply he has reverted to a younger age than what he was when he restored light to the world. This would mean the past kings would have to have revived Noctis to match the age that he was when he was supposed to marry our lovely oracle an entire decade ago. Once again, this would have at least been somewhat hinted at in the prophecy.
In summary, MY OPINION on the matter is that there are far too many unanswered questions to imply of them both being revived by the past Lucian kings. From a creative standpoint, I don't see them putting so much emphasis on Noctis being delivered the final blow by his father either is he was to just be revived and to get married to the oracle to now live happily ever after. This would betray what the prophecy has foretold and allow the pair to return whilst those that perished in this god awful time must remain dead. This would be a much sadder ending, knowing that those that weren't important had to die for the sake of Noctis, not knowing he would just return because banishing Ardyn wasn't worthy enough to not only revive him- a Lucian king- but also Luna- a damn Oracle who has extreme power. The trade wouldn't be of equal exchange.

Also asking "who decided it" isn't really necessary cause we already know that the Astrals are the ones who create these prophecies.I mean what else would Bahamut be doing inside the crystal other than to inform Noctis that he will die to restore light to the world. The other kings can't be the chosen one because- very simply- they weren't alive when the world fell into darkness and when Ardyn rose. I too would love for tales to be told from within this universe but this, like every other previous FF, will have to come to a close one day and I personally think that this game won't be the end of this universe, whether it be a small comic they create or continued updates for the game, this game won't fade for at least a little while.

With sufficient evidence with sources like the astral books within the game, in-game cut scenes, knowledge of the Kings Glaive movie and finally knowledge of the six summons (namely Bahamut lmao I didn't bring up someone like shiva or ifirit in this entire argument although I very well could have due to a number of plot details they bring to the table, especially with it being a common theory that has been well heard and accepted that Gentiana was present with Bahamut when Ardyn received his powers but this is all another story for a different day) This is very long and it is extremely late as I have been writing for several hours because collecting correct and valuable data in the form of quotes, past readings of the Astrals, Kings of Lucis and Prophecy take time lmao it's also hard to speak in such a formal manner for so many hours like if I had spoken this I can promise several more curses cause boy do I say fuck a lot. A lot of what you said here was "I believe" or "I don't think" and your provided little to no evidence that supported these arguments to a satisfactory standard. I'm really not into guessing what the ending of a game is. I want the developer to be very clear about what their vision of the story is and I want an ending that just makes sense clear as day!
Instead of wondering whether the Luna+Noct scene at the end is taking place in the afterlife, or if it's simply a scene of what could have been had nobody died, or if Noct and Luna actually are alive at the end somehow: How hard would it have been to have the bodies of Noct and Luna fade out, pan the camera out, no ascension decorations any more... boom! It's just a vision.
Anyways... pretty clear that they're all dead at the end. Let's see what future DLC may tell us I guess.

You will find this stupid, but I actually really, really love the fact that you have to search for your answers. I loved the game even more after reading over 300 comments and explanations of what happened. I'm still confused, but it's really interesting to see what about "thought" how the game ended. It's such a beautiful story, and I agree with you, some clear answers would be great. I believe they're all dead and the scene is just what could have happened if nobody died. But who knows...
That last few words after the ending cutting into the main menu of the game made me tear up

As much as you dont want to believe it, the scene with luna and noctis kissing at the end isnt real. Its a fantasy. Noctis dissipates just like ardyn after he destroys him in the afterlife.

This is incorrect. Noct and Luna are present in the afterlife known as the Astral Realm at the end of the game. This is the whole point of the character Arydn, as his entire motivations stem from being shut out of the afterlife by the Gods. He's unable to enter the Astral Realm.

That bit about the campfire is irrellevant because he put the ring on when arriving at Insomnia. Also the conversation they had at the campfire consists of Noctis admitting he has to die.
