Thanksgiving was a thing in Canada before it was a thing in the US. It makes more sense to have it in October because that's when the harvest is finished. By November, it'll have snowed in most of Canada.

Non-Canadians look at a bag of milk, and wonder Why would you want to keep a liquid in a container with no firm structure? The answer is: Before opening them (snipping off a corner with scissors), we put the bags in these standard (& re-useable) molded plastic jugs that hold them snuggly & securely upright. The advantage to bags is: _much_ less waste packaging than disposable jugs or waxed/plasticky cartons. And by the way, the bags are pretty tough, so they don't leak unless they've _really_ gotten banged around.

The Canadian post offices receive millions of letters Canada wide. There’s nothing greater at Christmastime as when your child receives a letter back from Santa with the help of his elves. "Great White North" was a phrase used by the characters Bob and Doug Mackenzie [Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas] in the SCTV comedy show that ran in the early 1980s. 15:30 "Why do you put [milk] in a bag?" It's just another type of container. There's a plastic pitcher to drop the bag in for pouring. We have cartons too (glass bottles... not as much. They kind of went away with glass coke bottles). The thing is, the bag milk is usually bought 4L at a time, so it's an economical choice for, say, a family of 4-5 people who go through a lot of milk and aren't so concerned with it spoiling before it can be used up. Also restaurants, who likewise go through a high volume quickly. Bachelors like myself stick to the cartons that can be tightly resealed to stay fresh longer.

Not sure who created the video you watched, but bagged milk is NOT all over Canada. Back in the 80s it was more common, but these days it's mostly just in Ontario. The rest of the country uses jugs (2L or 4L) or cartons.
And that demonstration was hilarious. You NEVER pour the milk INTO the jug -- you put the bag IN the jug, snipped the end with scissors and poured it out that way.

Thanks for your reaction. Why great white north ?--bcs many people think that Canada is frozen all year round, so we got that nickname. ketchup chips=not really ketchup, but more red no. 12 and artificial flavor that taste more like a spice mix than ketchup. For milk in bags, it's more seen in Ontario & Québec provinces, but personally, I use regular cartons. To experience all of this, just cross the border and come visit us. Have a nice day, both of you.

Milk in bags keeps the milk fresh longer as you get like 3 or 4 smaller portion bags in a bigger bag so only a small portion of the milk is exposed to external contaminants. Some people even freeze the extra bags... but those people are weird XD. All in all I prefer the bag method. Bagged milk is not done across the country though I live in Edmonton and bagged milk is not a thing here. Regarding the "Great white north" moniker my assumption is that we just get longer and more severe winters than most a you southern neighbours of ours ^_^. save Alaskans so it just stuck I can assure you we're not "all white" XD

11:35 Maybe go to Cuba before you assume to much about it? (Especially if all you know about it comes through the political filter of USA-based news programs?) Yes, the country on the whole is poor, and there is a fair amount of poverty there (certainly compared to the most of the tourists who can afford to visit the Caribbean on holiday) but their government actually provides a lot of important things free for them that the USA doesn't for their people. Like healthcare, and college.
Yeah, you heard me; The two things most likely to drive an American into lifelong, crippling debt are free to all residents in Cuba. You wanna be a doctor? Start studying, because your tuition is on El Presidente!

To be fair, milk is also sold in cartons and plastic jugs and the younger generations mostly buy those as opposed to the plastic bags, but it is cheaper in bags. It's good for people and families that drink alot of milk because you can't really close the bags, so you need to get through it quick once it's opened. 1 bag is 1 litre or about 1/4 of a gallon.

      1) 1 bag of milk = 1.33333 litres of milk, as there are 3 bags per bag, not 4. 2) I regularly drink 4 litres of milk per week myself, so the bagged milk isn’t just for large families. 3) Bagged milk is available all over Quebec, most of Ontario (that I’m aware of), and at least part of the Maritimes. 4) Fun fact: My mom still gets her milk delivered by the milkman in the suburbs of Montreal.

milk in bags is much more enviromentaly responsible. we are the 'great white north bc of all the ice and snow, including many glaciers, but def not bc of white people. not only do we have a very large first nations component, but because we welcome so many immigrants - and always have - we are one of the most multi-cultural nations on earth'. maybe it was just a very bad day, but my perception is that one of you should def not be doing this type of work/hobby. very critical and sarcastic, just giving off a lot of negative energy. it ruined the vid for me, so i had to downvote. sorry

@@sadee1287 less energy and cost to manufacture and transport. if they DO end up in landfill, 20 bags takes up way less space than one carton or jug. also, many people wash the bags and re-use the for kitty litter or dog poop - just cut off the top of the bag completely. there are more reasons, but that's good for a start
