If anyone wants to see a different take on a spirit tribal deck, LegenVD put one out the other day that seemed to have a better time against the current Standard meta.
I made a boros spirits tribal today. Plenty of testing to come but I've had a lot of success with boros decks in the current standard and I think this has the potential to be the best I've made yet. Thrilling Discovery and Showdown provide plenty of gas, with lots of graveyard value in Lunarch Vet, Twinblade Geist, Angelfire Ignition, and Katilda.. all pretty decent discard options with Thrilling Discovery. And can bring them all back with Venerable Warsinger. Voice of the Blessed gets pumped with Ignition, Lunarch (of course) Katilda, Thrilling Discovery, and Showdown counters. Apparition the last spirit for some removal options, and at the top end I got Hofri. Fun stuff.
I did stay till the end and, but I just really do not get doing a tribal deck with zero synergy. Even if you don't like the Patrician Geist as a spirit lord that reduces the cost of casting the Dorothea aura, I really don't see how you can skip Katilda, Dawnheart Martyr.
It's about time you made a video about azorius spirits! You had hyped up the devoted grafkeeper when it came out, but never made a deck around it. I know it's not meta, but the meta is stale as hell rn anyways. I hope you'll consider making a spirits deck that makes good use of the disturb and flashback mechanics CGB.
I wonder if that missing thing is Patrician Geist. Actual 3-mana Spirit Lord with flying and cost reduction on Disturb cards (what's relevant for this deck). This deck doesn't really feel like it ever wants to actually be casting Divide by Zero as that means you're playing defensively instead of being proactive and the lord can bring the pain pretty quickly. Especially if you go 1-drop, Dorothea into Patrician Geist into putting Dorothea's enchantment onto the 1-drop (since the opponent REALLY wants to kill the lord rather than the 1-drop).

@@demonicell Agreed. When even CovertGoBLUE is frustrated with the state of your format's blue cards feeling Super bad to play against you'd think you'd understand that there's a problem. I've been making do with the weekly events and Brawl with a smidge of Historic here and there but I'd really like to be playing full Standard as there's some great decks that are just not possible to play because of the way the race to Epiphany (or to kill them before 4+ turns and birds are taken in a row) works out.

Or am I missing something? That way their activation of Kaya was for nothing and next turn you can kill the Kaya even through the one flying blocker. Edit: I did miss something. Spectral Adversary cannot target planeswalkers, my bad.
@@WebSpyder777 Besides even if it could target the Lolth Planeswalkers keep priority until they activate an ability or intentionally pass, otherwise they would be way too weak to instant speed removal.

I have a theory that Wizards just has a lot of dummy accounts and they use them to guarantee wins by always putting you on the draw or making you get flooded and the opponent always has perfect draws, etc.
I appreciate the honest feedback about the deck, I find myself getting bored and trying out new decks that I find online. Most I find are some form of popular control shells or mono white, life gain blah blah blah. Or fairly sub par ... The honest feedback helps me save some valuable, valuable wildcards. That one is likely better in a midrange high-enchantment build than aggro, as it is too easy to wipe out your board state. And personally, I think going heavy enchantment is the better way for a sprit build.
Shipwreck sifters is actually pretty funny in the deck. Reduced handsize and Fleeting Spirit work well with disturb cards to pump it. If you run lantern bearer, you can discard it to fleeting spirit on opponent's turn then make your fleeting spirit flying.
Do you think Dorothea has a chance in a different shell? This deck didnt really have any good targets to put the aura on since you want to keep mana open for Ascendant Spirit or interaction and Fleeting Spirit is the worst target for cards like that.
What's cool, is looking at the value of a pack, it often is worth a standard event even at one win. Obviously, even money requires no mathematical gymnastics about the matter.
I found that Luminarch Aspirant is just such a good card that its worth playing a few of them, even though he's not a spirit. I also like a few Paladin class. The Last Level is actually really powerful with the Fleeting Spirit, since it makes it a recursive dangerous threat. Also, it's a 1 mana enchantment that makes your counter spells 1 cheaper and makes them better on your turn.
I think this deck is actually the mix of 2 different shells, one shell is a build around ascendant spirit, the other one is for Dorothea and personaly I dont think they are good togheter. Also taplands are good just in draft sadly they make you lose too many times in constructed. Nice try btw CGB!
5:30: I get your reasons. I do. I've had all the same thoughts attempting snow in any other two colors. Don't. Drop it. Drop haven. Drop it. It's a mono color option only. Those duals are just too bad. Control decks maybe, maybe, care less. But not aggro. And you're aggro no. Tapped only land is bad. Kaldheim wasn't complete blame wizards. Dont do it. Any deck that wants to 1, 2, 3 and isn't mono colored stay away.
this deck needs cyclone or something.. cut some of those 4 ofs. I think this deck, if you play Fleeting Spirit needs to build a core with Dorothea. Then somevcountermagic & card draws. Even thinking about building a Bantvdeck, with cards which give indestructible for the Dorothea enchantment
I like cbg's matches, but I get a bit bothered by the complaints, critics and irony about the other players and MTG at almost every play. I saw some older videos from him and he was more focused on the game play and strategy, and I connected more to that.
It really sucks that decks that should be decent just won't work in arena because of the draw system. Unless you are playing a deck you are totally fine drawing triplets of a single card from.... Then you're just not gonna win with it.
I tried Standard Event for the first time. I did 4 runs. Almost all games vs Izzet and Mono White, on ladder there is much more diversity. I will never play this bs mode again.

Spectral Adversary only targets artifacts, creatures and enchantments, not planeswalkers.

my spirits list has 15 wins in a row, spirits needs to play like an alpha strike deck similar to merfolk.
