Reckless stormseeker for the werewolves, sheoldred for mono black, portal and or cityscape for artifact, hallowed haunting or the saga Mishikos, valiant veteran for soldier decks, haughty and or tolarian, smelter or anvil for the token sac decks that’s all I can think of rn 😂
Oof, Invoke the Winds is so backbreaking in the right match-up I would be tempted to add more. Love the flow of knowledge/thirst; together they are very powerful card draw in a mono blue deck! It's kinda rare for straight up card draw spells to see play.
Murdering people with their own Sheoldred feels like karma. Also, red aggro players sometimes just rage quit when you steal one of thier hasty two drops. I don't know why, exactly, as you have paid more than 2x the mana for the privilege. I know blue counter spell decks aren't exactly beloved, but I love the budget friendliness of this deck. After getting blasted game after game by low curve rare and mythics, this deck is a pleasure to play.

Breaking news. One of my favorite games of magic ever was played with this deck. My opponent got me to 1 with a seoldred in play. So I stole it and Drew nine cards with flow of knowledge. I cackled as they conceded. One of the best games ever.
Small thing at 39:35 impulse into double terror is same mana but also you get to cast impulse. No reason to point this out because you played great and it was all a joy to watch but I wanted to leave a comment for this great video!

This exact build is sitting at 55.5% winrate according to Untapped, with 4,7K matches played. It's among the better decks in Standard, even if Soldiers still outperforms it.
I just made a draw deck with my pare blue cards, and in no way is it close to being competitive. But it's fun when it works. It's truly rough as I haven't been playing mtg arena for a long time and so II only have a copy or two of each card.
I think arcane proxy could be nice as a one or 2 of but it's cool to not run it and use different cards than have it it's in everything right now it's one thing i love about this channel how different it is
How would you recommend that someone newish to MTGA get into Explorer and Historic formats. I've only been playing since August (5 months). Any input is appreciated.
If you want the decks to be competitive I would look at aggregate websites (Untapped.gg, MTGGoldfish, MTGTop8, ...) to see which decks are doing well and pick a deck whose playstyle you might enjoy. Once you experience the format through one deck you'll have a better idea what other strategies you might enjoy and maybe build your own decks from there.
Just wondering, but wouldnt essence capture be strictly better than essence scatter here? EDIT: Just realised that Essence Scatter would indeed be better since it can get the discount from Djin.
@@LegenVD Now how about Scatter Ray? Countering some problematic artifacts like maybe a bankbuster or mightstone weakstone may feel pretty good. Not sure if that could be of consideration verus the hard counter for creatures only.
The deck mostly wants to operate at instant speed. Could see Teferi being a nice sideboard strategy though. And maybe there's a slightly different monoblue deck that can put both cards to good use as the main strategy.
@@LegenVD huh... I have a build that's basically the same but with two teferis in place of a few instants and I removed the teferis and suddenly the deck is WAY more consistent
@@mrksjke Curate is at its best if you're also running Delver as a way to help transform it. Shore Up is definitely a contender as is Slip Out the Back. The main takeaway from looking at card win rates is that Flow of Knowledge is over-performing.
I'd love for you legenVD if you make a deck based around combat research, mischievous cattiest, suspicious stowaway, acquisition octopus, take flight, etc. I would like you to front load on these cards, and try to add as many as you can rather than make the most competitive deck that has a few of them. Also could you please try to take it in the direction of using a bunch of unblockable creatures, namely the 1/1 fish tokens that cant be blocked. Also just having some good draw synergy in the deck like lat-nam adept, faerie vandal, and teferi, temporal pilgrim. It can be in any format
This Version is not working. Opponent plays 90% mono black aggro or soldiers. If you are on the draw, it is a auto lose for sure ... speaking of Diamond 3
Both are good ways to approach the archetype, I just prefer the deck with a more powerful late game most of the time. The main takeaway is that Flow of Knowledge is awesome and every build should play it.
You know what small things I appreciate with LVD's videos? The card previews during play or when he mentions them. So simple, but so helpful!

apart from Flow of Knowledge, the new tech for this deck is Curate rather than Impulse, as it can bin 2 spells to buff the Jinn

I personally replaced Impulse with Curate, sure Impulse lets you dig deeper but Curate can accelerate the instants in grave and improves your draws.
I like Curate especially if you're running Delver alongside it.

Have you considered Curate instead of Impulse? Digs less deep but throws cards in the bin which is extremely important for Djinn and Terror.
I like Curate especially if you're running Delver alongside it.

At the very least, should be running Essence Capture over Essence Scatter, which is what's in the deck list.

Why not "Essence Capture" instead of "Essence Scatter"? And do you think it is worth to put a mono Otawara sacrificing an island for Knowlegde?
Because Essence Capture cost is not reduced by Djinn.

honestly i think your deck has too much draw/dig spells, i would definetly add more utility spells and delver of secrets as a backup plan
