saw this back in 2009, I was 9 years old back then one of the first few animes i ever saw, back then i couldn't really understand why when i watched it i felt sad and why my heart was writhing and tears were flowing down my eyes. fast forward 9 years later, I decided to watch it again, same results but now I understood why. it really shows the reality of how hard it is to maintain relationships when far apart specially with the limited amount of options for communication in that time they're in and eventually you have to make a decision to either end it and move on or hang on to the thin rope of hope you have left that maybe, just maybe your partner was hanging on to that rope too.
This movie was recommended by a friend and I was like, what's it about? She said just watch it. I only remembered that I have already watched this movie years ago. I think my brain purposefully blocked this memory when I watched it five years ago, because of how depressing and realistic the story is.

I'd recommend picking up 5 centimeters per second one more side. The story is adapted into a light novel version and is very detailed compared to the orginal manga and film. Probably one of my favorite books of all time. A must get for any fan.

This is the reality, where you don't get your love everytime and just move on with the flow. You just get flashbacks of good memories and those bad memories haunt you but at some point of time bad memories stop haunting you and you become used to with all the emotions. Eventually you start discovering yourself. The pain, the happiness becomes used to. I guess this is what life is. Every situation makes you strong.

This takes me back to when I had my first crush in high school, and those innocent days when we were all growing up. Coincidentally, my crush from then also rejected me and dated my closest friend. And as much as I really came to dislike them, I also discovered this movie around then, and it sort of helped me come to terms with the fact that not every love comes to fruition, sometimes especially the ones you hope will work out. Sometimes it’s just better to move on before it gets to you. Unfortunately this also happened when I was 3/4 of the way done with high school so part of me really wished i found it sooner.

saw this back in 2009, I was 9 years old back then
one of the first few animes i ever saw, back then i couldn't really understand why when i watched it i felt sad and why my heart was writhing and tears were flowing down my eyes.
fast forward 9 years later, I decided to watch it again, same results but now I understood why. it really shows the reality of how hard it is to maintain relationships when far apart specially with the limited amount of options for communication in that time they're in and eventually you have to make a decision to either end it and move on or hang on to the thin rope of hope you have left that maybe, just maybe your partner was hanging on to that rope too.
I do not understand japanese, however when I listen to this song it kinda connects. Amazing song.

I'd recommend picking up 5 centimeters per second one more side. The story is adapted into a light novel version and is very detailed compared to the orginal manga and film. Probably one of my favorite books of all time. A must get for any fan.

This takes me back to when I had my first crush in high school, and those innocent days when we were all growing up. Coincidentally, my crush from then also rejected me and dated my closest friend. And as much as I really came to dislike them, I also discovered this movie around then, and it sort of helped me come to terms with the fact that not every love comes to fruition, sometimes especially the ones you hope will work out. Sometimes it’s just better to move on before it gets to you. Unfortunately this also happened when I was 3/4 of the way done with high school so part of me really wished i found it sooner.
