If I recall, Knuckles was originally intended to be Jamaican when Sega first came up with his concept. Now, if they had stuck with that idea, could you imagine reggae songs for Knuckles' stages in SA2?
while reading your comment I literally imagined the low health version of the stage theme of Dee Jay from Street fighter (The SF2 version of the theme specifically) playing while fighting Knuckles in Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Also, that`s cool, I thought he was based on African tribal culture.
Ngl, I’m glad I’m not the only one who wanted to hear Knuckles have a Jamaican accent (in fact, I think Jordan Bolger, the same guy that played Mr. Nimrod in “The Long Song”, would likely be a great voice for Knuckles like Idris Elba, Brian Drummond (via Sonic Underground), Michael McGaharn (Sonic Adventure 1. “Oh no!”), Travis Willingham (at least in Sonic Boom) and Nobutoshi Kanna (his Japanese actor of the 21st Century).

Sonic games actually have a history of being crunched out right before the deadline. This usually results in shit like 06, but Sonic 2, 3 and other classics were also the result of overworked employees burning the midnight oil. So in a sense, HP’s lyrics fit well within the Sonic developmental lore because they were rushed into a cringe-sandwich. I personally believe that the art can be separated from the artists, and think it would be a shame if we refused to build upon what he contributed to the franchise just because of his own personal mistakes.
Ryan does really good in S&T R. The interview is a little unfair I reckon. He obviously has lost something, but it's still there and god it was great to listen to
I do agree Ryan's Sonic voice has aged somewhat poorly. He still has it, Ryan just has to bring it out. In Sonic and Tails R, Ryan makes Sonic sound more "suave(?)" It could also be Emi's voice direction and script that's making Ryan sound off, but even so you can hear Ryan sounding like his own self at times in Emi's scripts. Even with Ryan's current Sonic voice and acting, he's still way better than Roger, LMFAO!

all this just convinces me that Twitter was a mistake lol. I still like the songs. Let's be honest, this is the sonic fanbase. You kinda have to accept when you go so deep that there's a LOT of weird and messed up shit out there. I dont think it was twitter that caused this tho, guy just sounds like a jack diddly doo. No wonder he's literally done nothing else. Plus he just sung and wrote the lyrics too, he didnt even make the best aspects of the song outside of the humor of it all.
You do realize the fanbase only great aspect is making fangames better than sega they hired a guy to help them and make his own along with how fans even continue to this day on discontinued sonic comics
I love Rooftop Run, Egg Dragoon, and some of the ambient night sections. It's a shame the most prominent theme is Werehog battle theme. But if you mostly only touch Day levels when coming back to Unleashed you'll be all right there.
Pretty interesting all what you said on the video, I'm sad for Hunnid by not being Accredited correctly, or Sega actually don't want him anymore. Hope he Improve as a person.

If y’all want an even better rapper, _Try Smooth4Lyfe._ He’s actually a really awesome rapper! I’m listening to his “hard-boiled heavies” rap He’s done a few sonic mania songs, some sonic forces ones, sonic generations, and unleashed! He also doesn’t only do sonic, he does other games and remixes too! Quick edit His track “It’s no use if you’re too slow” includes a small rapping portion using the AoSTH theme and I fuckin love it
Oh yeah, I remember always listening to his stuff back in the day. I especially like his Stardust Speedway, Crisis City, Mirage Saloon, and Titanic Monarch covers. He's just so smooth (guess that's kinda in the name.)
I actually always loved Jason Griffith as Sonic. I would love for him to come back. I miss Amy’s voice from unleashed, Sonic X, etc. Thank you for the video.
Honestly, the whole 4Kids cast should come back. And especially Kiyoko Yoshimura, who wrote the stories for Unleashed and Black Knight. They were finally getting things together in 2009, and then just scrapped it all. A real shame... it’s the last time Sonic felt like Sonic to me.
@@sketchyann609 Colors and Generations aren’t bad games at all. I really enjoy Generations, and Colors is perfectly serviceable. I’d still rather play any of the games before them, though, outside of some Generations mods. But the stories were downright terrible. The only reason that Generations’s story isn’t hated is because there’s barely any to begin with. And Colors was just cringey for the most part. But I will say that Lost World and Forces’s stories make the previous two look like The Last of Us 1 by comparison. I get that it’s not the main focus, and I think they shouldn’t got full on 06 or Shadow again. But Unleashed and Black Knight had the perfect blend of seriousness and levity that the series needed. And the writing was actually really good in those games. It just feels like a downgrade overall. But that’s just how I feel
Yeah I don’t get this attitude. Is it just so that he has an excuse to hate “mainline sonic” as a whole or does he actually only consider 3D sonic “mainline?” If there exists a “mainline” then mania is unfortunately irrefutably part of forces since it leads into it... I mean, it’s silly to argue what’s “mainline” or “canon” when it comes to sonic, I just don’t get the reasoning behind saying mania isn’t.
Thought this video seemed a little biased against the guy while I was watching it, then you confirmed it by saying that Hunnid P "deserves no credit for the tracks being as good as they are". That's just straight up bullshit. He killed every single one, not just sonically but with how they matched to the stage. In fact, after watching this and learning that he didn't even get to play the stages before writing the tracks, I realized he deserves more credit than I originally gave him. Rapping isn't as easy as people think, at all. Every single syllable has to be on point. That said, the shit with Emi is inexcusable and definitely makes me feel some type of way about him too. Oh and yes, his new single Pumpkin Pumpkin is pretty trash.
He deserves no credit. The music that he didn't write is good, the lyrics that he did write are cringe worthy trash. And I'm starting to get tired of the Sonic fanbase pretending they're not.
I'll be honest, his 'Sonic Adventure 2' "Aquatic Mines" OST man... that song was fire, no cap, I think it was pretty good.. other than that, it's OK to enjoy his music, given he's apparently no longer getting Royalties for it, or so I'm told
When I heard you start talking about Emi I was thinking "I love her music so much, what did this guy do to her," and now I'm taping a picture of his face onto a punching bag
I agree with all of this, except the part about Ryan Drummond. I've worked with voice actors before (full disclosure: I am not a voice actor myself, I've been involved only in more technical aspects of the process - however that's the part that's relevant) and voice acting is a lot more complex than people seem to think: it involves numerous takes of each line, a voice director who acts like a regular set director would, and even other parts of the game's development team who are more familiar with the scenes themselves. Basically, not being able to nail a voice he hasn't done for 15 years *on the first take with no direction* doesn't mean he couldn't do it in a professional setting after some warm-up.
To be honest I would love to watch a video on why you don't like SA2. I haven't seen a single good negative review on the game and would love to hear your take since you have common sense. I personally love SA2 so maybe it'll be a good watch Edit: I think the way I phrased my replies an this comment might've put people the wrong way, I'm more open to negative views and I'll definitely try to watch some of the videos y'all recommended
What about SomecallmeJohnny's old review? I think he gives the game a very fair and objective overview. The speed stages are still a blast to play but the other 2 playstyles leave something to be desired and the actual plot has a lot of holes in it. Not sure I'd call it a hate review but it definitely lays out a lot of the game's issues objectively.
"Do not fit a Sonic game at all." That's a bull-crap nonsensical statement. 1. A character from the 90s when hip-hop was at it's best(The Golden Age of Hip-Hop), who was purposely influenced by it along with other forms of hip-hop and street culture. 2. Said titular character has shoes purposely based on Michael Jackson who had to do with black originated music like R&B, funk, New Jack Swing(which combines the elements of Rap and Hip-hop) and soul. 3. Said titular character was voiced by Jaleel White, a black actor who was Sonic's original prominent voice actor who added his own smooth flavor to it, which is one of the reasons Sonic is known for using street/hip-hop slang in his various media. 4. Said titular character is a b-boy(break-dances constantly), through out various mediums. 5. Knuckles having dreadlocks as quills and shoes patterned after the Jamaican Rastafarian flag. 6. Sonic CD's various music, vocals, especially American ending theme and the Japanese opening and ending themes. 7. SEGA itself being known for hip-hop influence with Sonic, Jet Set Radio, Streets of Rage, Mad World, Toejam & Earl, and such. 8. Tails saying "true that" in present day continuing the influence. 9. The original Sonic movie trailer playing Gangster's Paradise. 10. The rap lyrics in Metallic Madness in Sonic Mania/Mania Plus. 11. The hip-hop influence of themes for Hill-Top, Mystic Cave, Metropolis, Carnival Night, Sonic Rush, and more. 12. Knuckles and his boy Vector in general. Sonic was inspired by American culture, hip-hop culture, and extreme sports culture to appeal to those three respective demographics. Those are Sonic's roots and origin. And I know there's something else I'm missing. Regardless, you didn't look that far into it did you?...
What’s weird is that Sonic fans also seem to forget the fact that “His World”, the main theme song for Sonic ‘06, had rap segments throughout. So Knuckles’ songs aren’t the only Sonic songs with rap in the series. It’s also ignorant, since “His World” has been and remained as a pretty popular and enjoyed Sonic song throughout the years. But yeah, I got pretty annoyed by that “Rap doesn’t fit Sonic at all” claim. It’s a really ignorant (and uncultured) claim to make when it comes to all the inspiration sources that the series has gotten over the decades.
@@beta511ee4 Still doesn’t mean that he can’t get his facts straight. You can like the rap or not but the Sonic series having it from certain influences is a fact.
I Think Ryan drummond Can still do the voice. Not as energetic as he used to be, But kinda sounds like a mix between drummond and griffiths voice of sonic. Its nice. He still has potential.
"Ryan legit cannot do the voice any more" Somewhere, a tiny part of me died realizing it was true. Absolutely no hate against Roger, but Ryan voiced my childhood. Nobody can replace that.
Huh. So both Lukan "Dred Foxx" Outdawzman who sang the rap portion of Unknown From M.E in SA1 (and was the VA for Parappa ), and Hunnid-Pacent who sang Knuckles' music in SA2 are both shitty? What a surprise.

knuckles is my favourite character. When sonic 3 came out I was so intrigued by this new character plus as sonics rival was very interesting to see as he played the antihero role well. And by the time sonic and knuckles dropped it seemed like he was bit more wiser to eggmans control. Really good character,
he has had my favorite character design in all of fiction since I was 3 or 4 years old. he looks kinda weird nowadays and they don't do anything with him, which is a shame.
Sonic adventure 2 is still my favourite game of all time! I added the knuckles raps to my Spotify playlist because of how catchy and nostalgic they were. I played them so much that I got a little tired of it. But after awhile I was in the mood for it again and added it back it keeps me coming back. I don't want to finish the video even though I'm almost exactly halfway through. I don't want to ruin anything for me. But in general when it comes to sonic music I get a little tired after listening to it non stop but almost immediately come back because I love it so much and sonic is my life.
You must be a psychic, because I've been ranting to my friends about how insane the Knuckles raps are for the past several weeks. "I'm feeling her in mysterious ways"...?
Even if he did sign a contract for royalties (which I doubt), whenever they reuse songs like Pumpkin Hill, they use the instrumental, which he didn’t make
5:53 this isn't surprising at all; who actually thought he produced the tracks? Majority of the time rappers don't produce the instrumentals they rap on. They may have some influence on the direction of the instrumental, but typically there is a separate party doing the production, mixing, and mastering so this is very normal

That clip of Ryan Drummond's newest Sonic impression is sobering, and heartbreaking.
What's that from?
I do agree Ryan's Sonic voice has aged somewhat poorly. He still has it, Ryan just has to bring it out. In Sonic and Tails R, Ryan makes Sonic sound more "suave(?)" It could also be Emi's voice direction and script that's making Ryan sound off, but even so you can hear Ryan sounding like his own self at times in Emi's scripts. Even with Ryan's current Sonic voice and acting, he's still way better than Roger, LMFAO!

Didn’t even know about this stuff happening. Probably because I don’t have Twitter.

What’s weird is that Sonic fans also seem to forget the fact that “His World”, the main theme song for Sonic ‘06, had rap segments throughout.
