I just back from Bali and Jakata yesterday. I spent a week in Ibud and another week in Ulawatu.. where did you buy it. I escaped drim LA to Madrid 13 years ago..
Buy that lovely young guy at the cafe some guitar strings please :) maybe he cannot afford them but wants to play guitar,he seemed like such a nice guy and yes I love your philosophy of giving back, those of us that can and who have relative privileges and opportunities compared to so many that don't can do whatever we can to give back. Look forward to seeing Indonesia as it looks gloriously beautiful and I ear everyone say it is....even if it seems it has been overrun with many westerners and tourists.
good idea, I plan on going back to eat there again as the food was delish and will see if he still needs his guitar fixed. Hopefully next time he can play a song for us!
1. She doesn't have to buy anyone anything. He can buy those himself. 2. "Overrun" with tourists? If you mean tourism is thriving, yes. But too many? No. It all comes down to how government and the people are willing to improve the infrastructures to acommodate tourists better. And boy, the infrastructures need tons of work, although some foreigners think the rustic vibes is a charm, I think the roads and public transport needs a lot of improvements.
I agree. No need to pay double. It would be better to give to charity, to old poor people, orphange and general poor people. Though you can give tips to the waitress and waiters as charity. They are poor. But thank you for your thoughtfulness to us Indonesians.
I greatly enjoy getting updates from your travels as I don't get out much. I'm sure I'll never visit Indonesia, let alone stay there. But hopefully it all works out for you! Good luck!
My dream also to travel to all those beautiful places you've visited 😊 I really loved the whole vibe of your vlog and how you truly appreciated Bali and the people, unlike some vlogger who only showing luxury cafe, shopping and villas without mentioning the local culture & poeple at all, which is the main 'behind the scene' of What make Bali the way it is🌺🌻🌴🌼❤❤😊
So true! I am beyond grateful to be welcomed on this beautiful and and will continue to implement the local Balinese culture as well as support the locals. I just did my first Melukat ceremony with a local family I'm currently staying with :)
You are so blessed to buy a villa in Bali. Every digital nomads dream, or anyone who has ever visited Bali. I fell in love with the island on my first visit on New Years of 2012. Since then I visited every winter from 2012-2020. My first return visit since 2020 was November 2024, and it had changed a lot since 2020, in my opinion. So many more villas, huge clubs along the coast, huge hotels that are pushing out the old charm that once was Bali flavor. Change is inevitable but I’m on the fence on whether I am in the flow with it all. I’m actually going to explore specific areas of Thailand because, I want a back up plan of where I could really enjoy living, exploring and thriving. I am currently visiting Vietnam on a visa run, and enjoying what they have to offer. There are so many places to visit on this amazing planet, I find each place that I visit so special in its own way and just appreciate the opportunity to be able to travel the world gaining worldly experiences. I think the best education anyone can gift themselves is the opportunity to travel the world. Take care and can’t wait to see more vlogs by you. I love that you live in Bali, because when I leave I can always have access to it by watching your videos. By the way, the vlog that you made a few years ago, of your good friend disappearing was very touching and really touched my heart. You have a powerful way of accessing a persons emotions and touching their heart center. I had tears streaming down my cheeks at the end of that vlog. Keep doing what you are doing. Can’t wait to see your new material that you post.
welcome to indonesia! can't wait to see you to explore more of indonesia and south east asia ;) indonesia is a huge country, you'll find a lot of content here if you have a heart of explorer recommendation place to visit: 1. Komodo Islands, Labuan Bajo 2. Yogyakarta (the cultural capital of indonesia) nearby the biggest buddhist temple in the world 3. Raja Ampat, West Papua 4. Lake Toba, North Sumatera (biggest volcanic lake in the world) you can also find the famous orangutans in north sumatera 5. Lombok & Gili Islands (what bali look like few years ago) 6. Bunaken, North Sulawesi (rated best diving spot for coral reefs) 7. Mount Bromo, East Java 8. Kintamani, North Bali (since you live in Bali this area is a must visit, sunrise view of a lake in the middle of 2 volcanoes!) i recommend you to do the whole java trip, and try java's railway transportation it's very modern especially bandung it's a good city for street food and volcanic tourism (be careful of the scams tho)
I am American who has been living in Bali since 2016 If you’re not Indonesian you can not own the land. You can lease the land and build a house or buy the structure But you’ll never own the land Be mindful what you claim. A popular TH-camr who is a partner in the Penny Land restaurant posted he bought houses and the govt cancelled his visa and banned him from Indonesia

You must try avocado juice its only in Indonesia and one of the most populair ones, and try the sweet martabak with chocolate and cheese, its weird mix but so delicious and one more: the beef rendang. Btw tips when you wanna cross the street in Indonesia just try using "the magic hand", lay you hand to the vehicles before crossing, and then cross the street. Btw nobody wanna hits somebody 😁. Congratz and welcome to Indonesia. Have a nice life Jes 👍 🥰
Welcome to beautiful country.happy enjoy to nice place like Java, Bali, Lombok,Labuan Bajo, sumatra, Sulawesi and Raja Ampat.Stay healthy, safety and be careful.Terima kasih 🇮🇩👍🙏
Really happy for you! But you need to understand that when you travel somewhere and pay extra for something you are increasing its value, which makes it expensive for locals. That's how restraunts get expensive, stays get expensive and in the long run, rather than doing good, it destroys the place. So please consider that. I know you have good intensions.
Welcome to Bali, try other area especially highland in Bali, like Munduk, Sidemen, jatiluwih, etc, because canggu, ubud, sanur, too mainstream and very busy crowded traffic
Great location for purchasing a villa. Even Ubud is over populated in my opinion along with Seminyak and Canggu areas. I need to make it to that area before I return to America.
That is correct. As explained in the vlog foreigners cannot legally buy land in Indonesia, so technically I am leasing the place for the next 29 years, after that it goes back to the Indonesian land owner.

Aww, yeah I can understand that as I’ve heard stories of that happening in many parts of the world. Sadly some people just see foreigners as $ signs, hence why they’re so nice, not all the time, but I do know when it’s genuine or not. Hope to see you in Bali one day!
Manado food is a bit strange in taste. I'm an Indonesian, but I only tried it once 😂. I think it is the most strange in the country, just because of the spices they use and how it taste. But I'm glad that you liked it.
@ thank you for the great info. I am in canggu right now but heading back to Ubud soon. Can’t decided which area ocean or inland. Hopefully he can help

Thank you! No you don't. There are many different visas you can apply for (so many it can be overwhelming) still trying to figure out what will work best for my situation.
What are the requirements to buy a property in Bali as foreigner. I also interested in buying property in Bali but I don’t know the process. Kindly advise. Thanks.
Hi Jessica, I have watched several of your Indian Vlogs from Goa, as i too love Goa just like u do.. however its not the same situation now, foreigners are ditching Goa and so are Indians too! mainly due to the taxi mafia and local hostility towards Indians.. recently few Indian tourists were even beaten badly and one of them lost their lives! however its not clear why would foreign crowd not come to Goa this season. Christmas and new years was deserted this time!! which was never the case.. Goa, all of a sudden seems to have lost its charm! it would be great to hear your perspective as a foreigner who loved Goa and spent almost half a year there! I'm sure Goa was on your mind when u made that Villa investment in Bali, that too when Goan studio apartments come at half that price in South Goa.. not taking away anything from Bali or Thailand, but just curious why not choose Goa? would love to hear your banter - cheers!
yes, it's very heartbreaking to hear the current state of Goa, a place I once called home. I'd say the pandemic really shook things up, all the foreigners who were season regulars started exploring other hippy places, and more Indian tourists started visiting Goa. As much as I love Bali, it's not Goa, Goa has a certain charm, and energy to it. I think Goa just needs to breathe a bit and the government needs to implement major changes if they want foreign tourists back. I am contemplating on going back in a few weeks to shoot a video of the current state.
@@JessicaSavano yes, you should, that would be great.. bcos a foreigners perspective is needed.. at least for the govt. to take notice and hopefully some action! cos indian critics voices seem to be falling on deaf years unfortunately.. the thing is bcos of taxi mafia, the bordering states of Maharastra and Karnataka tourists get their cars just over the weekends, choking up the beach roads and dont really occupy the beach shacks for a longer duration, so every ones at a loss

Dumb question; so if you lease for 30 years but build a villa on it what happens? you renew again after 30 years? what if you want to sell after 10 years for example?
Bali good for living ..modern city but local peoples keeping they culture so if you stay here you pay one but get two ..actually bali is safe cities but online and digital change everything
Foreign citizens (WNA) can own land in Indonesia with use rights, building use rights (HGB), or rental rights. However, foreigners cannot own land directly with ownership rights, business use rights (HGU), or land clearing rights. It is what i know as an indonesian. 🙏
@JessicaSavano I'm just worried that Indonesian people will misunderstand just by looking at the title of this 📹video. because recently many foreigners have violated the rules and arrogant policies in Bali, this has made Balinese people feel disrespected because Balinese people really uphold customs and traditions as well as politeness even though we are known to be friendly. but I hope you feel at home living in Bali and supporting the local people because basically most of them work below the minimum wage. ❤❤❤❤❤
It’s inevitable as everything changes eventually. I am grateful for my nest in Uluwatu and will do my part to help improve the island, even in small ways.
I am sooooo happy for you and proud of you doing what you truly wanted to do. I have been following you for a while i don't comment much but I love all your videos. God bless you and I am so excited for you and thank you for sharing.

Dumb question; so if you lease for 30 years but build a villa on it what happens? you renew again after 30 years? what if you want to sell after 10 years for example?

Welcome to Bali, one of the best place to stay in Indonesia and consider cheap Living cost for dollar income...😅
Foreign citizens (WNA) can own land in Indonesia with use rights, building use rights (HGB), or rental rights. However, foreigners cannot own land directly with ownership rights, business use rights (HGU), or land clearing rights. It is what i know as an indonesian. 🙏
That’s absolutely correct. I’ve explained the process throughly around the 27:20 mark. Hope it helps people understand what a leasehold in Bali is.
Welcome to paradise

It’s inevitable as everything changes eventually. I am grateful for my nest in Uluwatu and will do my part to help improve the island, even in small ways.
We Will Take Care OUR Land! We Not Need Bule!
