bro you really hit me hard when u talked about the part with the social life...im currently experiencing the same(not on the same scale as yours) ,we moved in a bigger house with the same principles having more peoples around ,being more social etc. ,but the place needs renovation ...soo it takes all my free time ,the renov. project , my job, kids etc. ...soo ironically we don't really have that much time left for socialising ,but we will get there eventually ,we just need to keep on going froward.....Cheers from Belgium.

Luckily we don't need this when travelling within the EU, as we have free roaming. For people travelling elsewhere, it may be useful, though.

This house is gorgeous dude. The type of thing that's really only possible when a passionate owner teams up with a talented architect and designer. Even though you've pretty thoroughly documented this entire build process, I don't think most people will be able to comprehend the amount of work and stress involved in a project like this. Building a "normal" home is difficult enough, but when you have to think through and make decisions on hundreds of curated design elements, finishes, and furniture pieces, the amount of time and energy required is staggering. Congrats to you both! I'm sure you're excited to get this thing wrapped up.

I know how emotional the last months were for you when the house started to look like you dreamed of. When the finishing materials were being made, the furniture made specially for you came, when the lighting was set up...
I've done the same, 3 years of works instead of 1, and 3 amounts of money instead of 1 )))
But last 3 months are always special and you will remember it forever.

Masterpiece, of design and aesthetic. You haven't built a house or mansion( in the single giant building sense), you've built a personal resort and home.
Of note to me is the warmth of the pink hue's in the kitchen stone and accompanying lighting.
-The openness and beauty of the walking routes between areas and the natural and rough exterior finishes, no exposed polished concrete.
-The well filled and tall growth filled garden spaces in the areas created between buildings. Adds an openness, while feeling enclosed in a positive way. As if walking through jungle.
I would do this but non of it would survive in Alberta. My personal dream house is deep amber finished wood with black iron accents in the minimalist modern industrial style. Think Ultra-high end NYC loft.

I think of the Four Seasons in Ubud, Bali and the incredible stay we had there a few years ago. I marveled at the simplicity and strategic touches of character elements at the Four Seasons in Ubud. This house is super cool and amazing but he might end up taking away some of these gadgets and gizmos and embracing less. It is like someone had an unlimited bank account and because of that looked at every square inch as a chance to purchase and put something creative and different. Even with that said, it is stunning, and like he said, the best is yet to come once the green plants start to grow into that gorgeous space.

Looks amazing Christian @lostleblanc, such an inspiration. My only concern is that I’ve noticed you laid your iron wood flooring directly over the concrete slab with no subfloor or moisture barrier. I know from experience that the moisture (especially in a tropical climate) causes wood to warp in short time. I would suggest investigating this with your contractors before moving much further. You do not want to have to replace that beautiful floor within a year. 😊

You need a jack Russell ! Maybe 2. Make sure you install snake flaps on any outlet drainage or grey water pipes. They let the water out and close with gravity to prevent snake egresses. I have been here 25 years and seen and heard many stories of snakes up pipes and even making it to 2nd floor toilets !🎉

Im curious what it'll look like in a few years time. Looks like substantial and challenging upkeep. Also the issue with having imported items in Indonesia is getting parts for maintenance & expertise to repair. Congratulations on your new home.

Only obtainable as a salvaged timber. Next project try to find some, it the ultimate Luxe tropical hardwood.

Christian once it’s all done you have to be honest with us and let us know what was the cost of the entire project. I know ones you sell you have to obviously charge probably twice as much because you are selling already built villas and all the work and management goes into it definitely is worth the $ price, but I’m not talking about resale value or anything like that, how much was the cost of the whole building project overseeing it yourself, including the land. Please this will be the most interesting. Thank you and good luck, you guys are doing an amazing job. And it’s time for you and Ruby to get married, she is such awesome girl and you two make a beautiful couple and also I can tell your personalities match. All the best ❤️
