    If you you are a school run veteran, who needs space for up to six kids as part of your early morning commute, then the Toyota Verso is an excellent choice. It puts reliability and fuel efficiency before style and sporty handling. The 2.0 D-4D version, although not as smooth to drive as petrol variants, returns over 50mpg, while the third row of seats can be easily folded - creating a spacious five-seater with a large boot. Those looking for something smaller than the Verso, should consider the new Toyota Verso S, available from February 2011.

    I'm not thumbing down or even criticizing Japanese cars. I own a Japanese car myself and am fully aware of how well-built and reliable they are. That said, Hyundai's and Kia's of late have been declared class-leading by every automotive review agency in the world. We don't have to like them, but the automotive landscape has changed dramatically inthe past few yeras and we'd be foolish and close-minded to ignore the complete reversal made by Kia and Hyundai.

    I got the very same car, almost the same color and with no GPS.
    Reliable and well built plus I do find it good looking. Taking into account the 2.0 D4D engine's consumption, I find it hard not to like the car. Missing some extra cavities where to store stuff Thou.
    The Smax was my fav but got this one just because of the real flat trunk and also has a bigger engine over the 1.6 Citroen C4, very useful when the card is fully loaded. Not the best in any specific but overall a very well done mvp.

    Do you know what a percentile figure is? A Percentile is the value of a variable below which a certain percent of observations fall. For example, the 30th percentile is the value (or score) below which 30 percent of the observations may be found. It therefore must account for every variable (in this case car manufacturers). Contrary to your assertion, I compared German car's reliability to that of every other manufacturer in the world, of which at least 60% recorded superior reliability.

    Sorry to break your illusion, but Kia ceed [for example] is a lot of car, for not a lot of money. Great engines, a lot of space and very decent interior quality [in better options package even better than the Megane]. If there was aver an organization that would hate Korean cars, it is Top Gear. They bought their Cee'd b/c they thought it would be a laughably crappy vehicle. Clarkson himself even said that "we're genuinely impressed with the Cee-apostraphe-D b/c it's just a brilliant little car." Sebastian Vettel even said that "it's a good car" after Jeremy asked him what he thought of it (expecting him to say something funny about how slow it is compared to his Red Bull F1 car). Korean cars are now good.

    I just bought a used one mainly because I hope for a reliable car that shall not see a garage all the time. I miss some gimmicks other brands offer such as a start button or a least snap key like VW so you you won't scratch your phone in your pocket. a lumbar support in the seats would also have been nice. but OK, it's a Toyota after all. You buy it for reliability and not for luxury and design.

    I had a chance to drive this car for a few days and I have to say the steering is so light there is no feel of the road therefore the steering wheel feels more like a video game controller than anything, and the 3rd row seats can only be used by children if there is anyone in the middle row. Also my mother got a headache sitting in the back because of the car jiggling about on more uneven roads. Styling wise the dash seems to be deliberately designed to put you to sleep.

    May I ask when those friends owned those Hyundai's? I have a feeling that they owned them a while ago (back when they were cheap and admittedly poor quality). Do you know anyone who owns a 2011 Hyundai? As for my figures, I used Consumer Reports and compared reliability figures of EVERY car manufacturer (how else do you get a percentile figure?). Since you haven't offered a single statistic, your argument has no merit and I am therefore the more educated of us two.

  • @Netryon
    @Netryon 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Two door sports car with small space and seats for passengers is what everyone does not believe this car is. It's much safer to transport a bike inside, could be it's not safe for passengers, but passengers aren't comfortable with small spaces or front seats sliding back too far. Navigation probably is not updated after some time.

  • @marshknute
    @marshknute 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    You're missing the point: Toyota made a name for itself by making boring (reliable) cars for boring (sensible) people. The Supra offered all the boring characteristics which everyone wants in a car as well as the sporting nature we petrolheads crave. Toyota is at it again with the GT-86 and a rumored Supra replacement. That said, Hyundai has already done that with the Genesis Coupe R-Spec. Where else can you get a well-built 350 hp 4-seat coupe for very reasonable money?

  • @marshknute
    @marshknute 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    "Yanks love those Korean sheds, for reasons i will never understand." The reason you don't understand is b/c you are blindly ignorant and can't accept changing times. People buy those "Korean sheds" b/c they read dozens of reviews which proclaim them best-in class, with superior fuel economy, interior quality, reliability, powertrain warranties and pricing. Americans love them b/c they are quite simply high-quality and extremely good value vehicles.

    You simply don't get it: "let the A to B commuting people buy terrible Hyundai's." That statement is blatantly false and close-minded, coming from someone with an inability to accept changing times. Hyundai and Kia are doing the same trick that the Japanese did: retain a customer base with dependable cars while offering new types of cars to draw in new buyers. That's why they offer sensible hatchbacks, sedans and SUV's as well as class-leading performance-oriented coupes and luxury cars.

    Actually, German cars some of the least reliable cars on the planet. According to Consumer Reports, Audi, Mercedes and Volkswagen are in the 30th percentile for reliability while BMW is in the 40th percentile. The worst-handling Mustang is the base V6 model, which pulled 0.96 lateral G when MotorTrend tested it last year. To put that in perspective, that is the same lateral acceleration as a Porsche Carrera. Kia's and Hyundai's are now class-leading and put European cars to shame.

  • @marshknute
    @marshknute 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    I realize that Brit's have a tendency to latch onto stereotypes and ignore changing landscapes, but you simply can't do that in the car world. Cars are replaced every 6-8 years and are often refreshed after just 3-4 years. The Kia and Hyudai of 2004 has absolutely no relation to the brands we have today. It is close-minded, foolish and immature to ignore the monumental improvements made by Korean manufacturers. You simply will not be taken seriously by any educated petrolheads.

    You don't have to like Korean cars, but you'll be dealing with a hell of a lot of people like myself in the future if you keep pretending they are shit. To each his own, but intelligent people would prefer to spend less money on a faster, more economical, more reliable, more practical, cheaper to run and better looking car with superior interior quality and a class-leading warranty. Since Korean cars tick all of those boxes, that's what intelligent people will do.
