Best mpv for me is the Toyota Verso, compact size but spacious and practical. Legendary reliability and strong resale value too, hence hard to find a good one under 5k. I also like the 3 separate seats in the middle row and the occasional use extra 2 seats in third row.
Which engine? I'm considering diesel because I make a lot of kilometres cca. 30.000km . Verso have 1.6 diesel engine from BMW company. Older models are available with 2.0 and 2.2 diesel but are too old for me because they have many kilometres on them. So I know that gasoline engines from Toyota are the best solution but their fuel consumption is too high. I had Mazda but every model got rust,so Mazda never again. My 2005 Yaris have zero rust problems. So do you have any recommendations of which engine to buy for me?
Very well said, to mention about the service history... I work in a garage, I've done my own service on my own car and family members... Most of my work colleagues do the same and to be honest with you we don't have receipts or paper work with it over the last two years. As for oil we get it for free! The only paper work I hold is for things like new brakes, filters etc... So if possible that buying a used vehicle and if there's no updated service history but if some paper work like new parts which will have the date printed that can show some indication that some service has been done to the vehicle, then best recommendations is to just get a Bronze Service done for £69?
Thanks for watching James Ford, really appreciate your support - if you’re a mechanic and you work at a garage and have services it maybe you could use your garage stamp if you’ve done full service up to book spec??? Otherwise your suggestion might be a good idea👍
I'm not a Mechanic, I was hired as a fitter, and they got me doing servicing, Alignments, brakes and exhausts. They don't allow us to stamp our log books because we aren't paying customers.
@@jamesford6431 Ah OK. You could always put something down on paper, your own service records with receipts for anything you bought to help support it. It's still evidence of a service of a kind. I'd much rather see that than nothing or just some invoices.
Sir Euro 5 Diesel price dropped very low because they are not emission compliant as London, Birmingham , Manchester, Leeds, York , Glasgow and Edinburgh will be banning it too or pay high toll charges on these one. :(
Hi mate.. just recently discovered your page and there is so much beneficial information! Thank you! Are these cars still ideal in 2024? Would love another MPVs / SUVs under 5/6k! Expecting a 3rd child in Feb so will need something that's ok for 3 car seats in the back, any recommendations? Thank you for making these videos to help us parents in these difficult economic times! 🙏🏽🙏🏽
I’ll do an updated video soon mate, this video still holds up but remember that £5k is not going to get you a world beater these days so be suspicious of everything and if you can get a mechanic to look the car over then it’s well worth the small investment 👍
Hi! I hear from just outside Bournemouth! Me too! Love your videos but I am moving to Spain later this year and the used car market there is INSANE! Any chance of a video on the best value for money in Spain? Ta!
Oh really? I’m in Ferndown. I worked for a Spanish company here for many years and speak the lingo a bit 😂 from what I know of the used car market in Spain, try and buy a left hand drive car over here or in France and take it with you. Lots of things are much more expensive in Spain than over here (second hand mobile phones, designer brand clothes, books, Coca Cola etc)
By the way very good video thanks for making it... I've been looking for a second vehicle, more family friendly partner wants a 7 seater, I've been looking into a Transporter like the VW which I love the look of but can't afford one... Yet? If you can make a video for £5k or less that would be awesome?
@@DefinitelyNotAGuru hi mate, i have question if you dont mind, i never had estate, suv or mpv as didint need space but in this year my plans changed and i would love to change my current car for some other one in which i will be comfy sleeping overnight- (weekend trip somewhere in uk) and i dont want break the bank, would you say go for estate 2.0 diesel something like audi a4 avant if budget is 5k? As i dont need euro6 car, but i want diesel only, ideally over 30mpg, also dont know if stick to manual gearbox or go auto( i still believe on manual you get better mpg but i dont know if its still true). I don't know why anyone would buy a diesel engine car if you are not going to work it.. A diesel is a working engine as it needs to be put to work or you will clog it up, they need to be run hard to keep them clean
