It's impressive! I've tested it out and it's good. It's a very low-resolution mesh, but it keeps the form. As an artist, I can use it to speed up the sculpting process. I'll make more tests. Pity, it doesn't work with faces/heads only. You guys are brilliant! Thank you!

I keep following all steps in tutorial but OBJ file doesnt appear in results/pitfuhd_final/recon folder! And refreshind doesnt help. What's wrong? Please help.
is there a tool in blender to separate the hand from the body and then fill the holes (this way you can rig the character, without having to use an Image of the person already in a T-pose)?

i've seen some example videos where the model is continuously generated based on footage or an image sequence. Any idea how that's done? Just running each frame through as a single image one by one? How would you chain those frame-by-frame models into one model, though?

Hi, the best choice is make sure no complicated background and objects in the photo. Example, take your own photo, your back face a clean white wall, make the AI easily recognize you and your body part without other object around your photo.

So I think this is really awesome and wanted to get an old GPU/accelerator to try it out on my own computer. Out of curiosity do you know if a newer version of Cuda would be better than more memory? It's impressive! I've tested it out and it's good. It's a very low-resolution mesh, but it keeps the form. As an artist, I can use it to speed up the sculpting process. I'll make more tests. Pity, it doesn't work with faces/heads only.

Seems only the demo version is free. I ended up with Keentools (Blender addon) for faces. Not the best option, but it speeds up the process anyway.

is there a tool in blender to separate the hand from the body and then fill the holes (this way you can rig the character, without having to use an Image of the person already in a T-pose)?
This need to do a lot of works, a lot of patients, in 3D modeling editing, in Edit Mode of Blender.
You are right mate, I think this is just the tip of the iceberg. What you are thinking right now may already be possible but its not out yet or maybe sometime in the near future.

i've seen some example videos where the model is continuously generated based on footage or an image sequence. Any idea how that's done? Just running each frame through as a single image one by one? How would you chain those frame-by-frame models into one model, though?
Yes. Some software can use video or image sequence to auto generate mesh. This PIFuHD is just using one image to generate the mesh. By the way, this tutorial already updated. You can make 3D animation on the character. Check this out:

Hi, the best choice is make sure no complicated background and objects in the photo. Example, take your own photo, your back face a clean white wall, make the AI easily recognize you and your body part without other object around your photo.

So I think this is really awesome and wanted to get an old GPU/accelerator to try it out on my own computer. Out of curiosity do you know if a newer version of Cuda would be better than more memory? I know pytorch needs 3.5 or higher, but I'm no where near smart enough to know what all goes on on the back end of pifuhd.
