Blame the fans for that. That song was going to originally be scrapped because of the new way the hyenas are written it would make no sense for Scar to sing it. But fans complained about its exclusion and Disney caved.
@@watchforever1724 Well, of course. That isn't my point. Come on Disney animated movies are doing great and have original ideas I am so excited to watch Raya and the last dragon. And next year we have only one remake on cinemas that isn't even a remake, more of a readaptation I understand that 2019 makes it seem like Disney is banking on nostalgia and this year they are but next year looks great original movies on the way by Pixar and Disney Animation, 3 live action movies based on books and theme park attraction, a "remake" that seems to deviate itself from the animated version in a good way, no Star Wars movies, and just 2 Marvel movies, and Fox movies have a great variety to them I see that as a win.
Interesting fact here: The director (who also directed the live action The Jungle Book), didn't like how "cartoony" the animals were in The Jungle Book live action film. He said he wanted the animals to look more "realistic." He felt like the animals had too many face expressions. So when he directed this movie, he took that opportunity to make the animals more "realistic", and he took it at full force! This is no joke, this was literally said by the director. And the reason why this REALLY pissed off Disney fans the most, then any other shitty Disney live action flick, is because this is The Lion King! One of the TOP, and I mean ONE OF THE TOP BEST Disney films of all time! Not to mention, it's personally MY favorite Disney film of all time too, just to see that film reduced to....THIS! Is REALLY insulting! The Lion King live action movie deserved better! I'm not a parent, but if I was, I would NEVER show my children this! I would want to show my kids how FUN a Disney film can be! With all the colorful characters, songs, animations, everything! And if you're a parent reading this, DON'T let your children watch this! Or any of these Disney remakes! Show your kids how fun the classic and animated originals films were when you were kids! The same way how we were amazed by the originals, let your kids express and experience the same way!

@@jordanjaeger1371 I don't get why she thinks that though. At my local zoo, we have a pride of eight lions, a family unit composed of an adult male, two lionesses and five daughters of two different ages (though both sets over a year old now), and they have more interest, purpose, intensity, and emotion in their expressions and their movements than anything these CGI lions did in the whole movie. When I saw one of the older sisters biting her little sister's tail, I could both see and hear how mad the little sister was, and she had a helluva lot more emotion than Nala did when she challenged Shenzi to a fight at the Pride Rock battle (which is a scene where I would expect to see a similar expression).

When I heard the movie was gonna be a shot-for-shot remake I basically said "why bother?" Glad I wasn't the only one. Though the Jungle book was the only live-action remake I saw in theaters.
"Do something like Black Cauldron..." Yes! I'm so glad I'm not the only one who thinks Black Cauldron would be perfect for the live-action remake fever Disney is experiencing. There's so much more they could do with that movie...like make it a franchise since it's a book series (The Chronicles of Prydain) and they wouldn't have to cram it all into a single animated film. If Disney would be willing to take it seriously and keep its dark, almost horror elements (such as the creation of the cauldron-born), they could bring in a different audience to their films and, possibly, surprise those who had never heard of their animated telling of the books. The only thing I would be sad about would be that the late John Hurt wouldn't be able to reprise his role as the Horned King.

Unlike other live action remakes that tried to add a bit more context or stake to the story, this one actively removed elements due to political correctness. Goose-stepping hyenas and dead elephant bones seemed to be too much for the PR department. I don't care they were making a joke from rthe original line where Timon says, "Not in front of the kids" but I wish they'd put something creative there instead of just "you disgust me".
Agreed. They actually seemed like they were having fun and the fact that they improvised so much just brought some much needed energy to the whole thing.
I would’ve preferred if this “live-action remake” was just a taped live performance of the Broadway show. Those costumes & puppets are amazing!
I really wish that were the case. I would have loved to see the Broadway show on the big screen, since the live show can get expensive.
Definitely would have been awesome last year considering how the pandemic closed down Broadway for a really long time and given not only a chance for people that live in New York City that have seen the show live several times at the Minkoff Theatre, but a chance for those that haven’t been able to see the show in NYC or on tour.
Just imagine: an Avatar level remake of the Atlantis movie with a crapload of focus on the sidecharacter development. That would be a wild ride!

When I saw one of the older sisters biting her little sister's tail, I could both see and hear how mad the little sister was, and she had a helluva lot more emotion than Nala did when she challenged Shenzi to a fight at the Pride Rock battle (which is a scene where I would expect to see a similar expression).

Yes!
