Very few people mention how good John Taylor's bass playing is, he deserves more credit for shaping the Duran sound
if you only knew how great this song is in the other timeline, the more qualitative one, it was major hit, still is and they also play it much better, this timeline they are ok, still better than many of the no bodys of this one but.... save a prayer in that other timeline was top of the line hit that you could not get out of your head
The fact that he can still rock out the bass line of Rio at the end of a long show, without slowing the tempo or anything, is really a testament to his playing.

I kind of disagree. John was voted best bassist of 2021, and has the respect of many, many, of his peers. He's always been noticed, and credited, with drummer Roger Taylor, for shaping DD's groove.
I feel so fortunate growing up through the 80s with this, and so many other, timeless legends. What a great time.
Greatest decade in music. It went all down hill after 1990.

I’ve always loved “Save A Prayer“ Such a great Song!!!
These guys helped me get thru 4yrs in the service. They were my favorite band I can remember almost every word to there songs.
Read Andy Taylor’s autobiography. Great read, especially for DD fans.
I was so lucky to be there. They are timeless.
And, YES. John Taylor deserves way more credit. He was an integral part of the ORIGINAL DURAN DURAN .

There’s a reason why Duran Duran is still great, and it’s because they’re constantly evolving and embracing the world as it changes while also still being true to their core.
This includes embracing technology. Especially musically.

Glad I grew up listening to this during the 80s. Remember those days in the diners and flipping through different songs to play while u were eating and getting to choose the hits from the rio album etc? Great memories as a kid. Thank God for MTV in the 80s bringing out these bands. Shame on mtv for what it’s become today. Pregnant teens? WhAt a disgrace this society has become thanks to bad parenting etc.

OMG Rio is out of this world, I didn't think this tour could get better after attending the show in Italy, but it seems that closed spaces like arenas are making the overall sound even bigger and the guys are tighter than ever!

I'm 31 . Born in 1991. I LOVE THIS BAND SO SO MUCH!!!! And I think the synth needs more support as he's the fit one oioi. I play piano and still have my Yamaha CS1X. Would be my dying wish to See Duran Duran x

This concert was so much better than the one in Brazil. I saw the video and hardly anyone sang with the band. Leave it to New Yorkers! That’s why I love seeing Broadway shows in NY.

John and Roger are still in the band. They’re not related. Andy left…again, for good, years ago. I think they’ll appear together for RRHF induction ceremony.
@@gretchenlb Thanks for the update! I get confused about which Taylor was which, 😆. Still sounding great as a band. Was Andy the original bassist, or is that Roger? The original bass work on “Rio”was friggin’ great. Maybe I’m thinking that Andy and John are bros?
@@chuckhutton5087 No brothers. John on bass, Roger on drums and Andy on guitar. Andy left the band twice and no one wants him back.
You’re welcome! This has been an ongoing thing since they formed and it’s understandable to mistake them as blood relatives.
3 band members, same last name, must be related and yet they’re not.
*John Taylor is the bassist
*Roger Taylor is the drummer
*Andy Taylor was the guitarist
They formed with Simon and Nick in 1978 and remained the original 5 members until 1985. They split off and formed two other bands. John and Andy formed Power Station.
Simon, Nick and Roger formed Arcadia. There were other incredible artists linked to those bands, as well as as solo album and many collaborations.
Fast forward to 2000, Andy rejoins Duran Duran, they make an album, tour and then start recording a new album in 2006, when he parts ways permanently.
I’ve loved them over 40 years, hence the lengthy reply of their history.
