- Low expectations on the price , with it being a difficult year, grass shortages due to the drought. Half of our lambs were sold in September, now it’s time to sell the other half. This video covers our last steps to prepare for the sale and the action from down at the market

Thank you Donna, yes we did it, and now to do it all over again!! 😂 hopefully it will feel a little easier this time, I remember a year ago I was agonising about when to move the sheep to a new field and now that isn’t something that worries me at all so that’s good 😊 the main worry was too much wet in winter and lack of grass in summer but we got through both ! X

Thanks Kim, yes I can’t believe it’s time to start again now! Time flies by. It feels surreal that it’s almost a year now since we lost my dad. It some ways it doesn’t feel like it could be a year and in other ways it feels ages since I had a hug and saw his twinkling blue eyes xx

Joanna I looked at it in grocery store yestetday 50$ a kilo Canadian for the rack ! Yikes ! I brought from local farmer 14$ a kilo a full lamb.

Congratulations on the successful sale--lambs all looked good! I'm curious what commission etc. does the auctioneer take, no doubt there's a cost. I haven't heard any mention of how well the campground fared this summer. No doubt the high cost of fuel may have curbed people's travel but hopefully you may have had more local campers to offset. Keep up the most interesting videos of all your various activities, most enjoyable. Sorry to hear of the ORF outbreak but it sounded like a small number of animals affected & besides you've sold the bulk of your production. It's a nasty affliction for infected animals.
The auction took about 5 percent roughly. The campsite did well this year, we found there was still plenty of demand and we have lots of return customers from several years of hard work building up our customer base and providing a good service. Definitely proud of the campsite x

Some nice lamb's you ever think of keeping a few off the ewe lamb's as replacements.
We sometimes keep a couple but we really need quality mules

Well done, those were very nice store lambs. Sale day is always a bit nervy.
Thank you! I was very nervous indeed but maybe I will settle down as I get more experience. A lot of time and enegry put into making the lambing and season a success so every right to feel nerves I think!

well done, a nice lot of lambs. a bit more grass around since the rain has come helped them to sell a bit better. a good idea to sell a few at different times of the year i think ........ your not putting all your eggs in one basket then .well done

Another good video. I imagine you are aware but if not one of those yows looks like she might need some TLC. It might just be age quickly catching up with it. It’s always something especially with older ewes.

you got them away at a good price .........the increased grass growth has boosted the store trade ....... stores are a good trade here also .........te important thing is that you now have the lambs sold before the start of winter .......well done you both ........ its always nice to come home with a better price than you were expecting to get ....!

Great video, thank you both. Vindicated, you got £11 per lamb for that first load higher than you thought would be a good price. I've not put that well, but I guess you know what I mean. Well done, it could not have happened to a nicer couple than you pair. All your very hard work has paid off with the lambs sold and heading towards the start of the new season. How are the cows doing? We've not seen them for a while, but knowing you, as we are starting to do, I'm sure they are grand or is that champion?
I was going to say about having a break but you beat me to it with the slight delay in broadcasting. If ever anyone earned their break it was you two. Congratulations to you both for a cracking year, so far.

Thank you Steve, I think the cows are okay but it’s always a changing process! They were okay at the time of writing so hopefully they are still fine. Will soon be at winter feeding , taking them bales every few days!

Lambs looked good and healthy so well done to you both. We always leave sheep in shed night before sale, they always look better dry and they don't get all dirty from being put in straight off grass. You should wean lambs earlier to give ewes chance to recover.
Hi James, yes next yeah definitely need to wean the lambs. Ideally need to plan to keep the ewes away from the lambs. In the summer when the campsite is busy it’s hard if she sheep and lambs are calling all night , no one gets any sleep and we get complaints !!

Well your dad would say you have entered into a man's world for sure and I should know this and I'm ashamed for not knowing my grandfather Corbett had a butcher shop in London but what are some of the names for the meat besides mutton I should know this I am so ashamed 😁🐝

I think it was luck money. It’s a tradition to give a bit back for luck.
a 20 £ note for luck ........might encourage an extra bid or 2 and that way you would get the money back .....!
