    I've owned this fan since 2016 and today was the first time I've ever cleaned it 😬😬 Thank you so much for the video!! Super helpful!

    I appreciate your efforts to show how Dyson's " you only need to wipe the outside to clean " claim is not sufficient. However , there is really a lot more to "really" cleaning it . In order to “really clean” it You need to disassemble practically the entire thing because the impeller which is a fan blade that sucks in air just like any other fan blade gets clogged very easily with dust because it has very small channels in it and becomes unbalanced noisy and loses airflow very quickly.

      Instead of vacuuming off the dust on the vents, etc….I used a Toro Leaf Blower to do a mega blow into the vents and the amount of dust & crud that came out was outstanding…the fan performs like new…very quiet

      You can also use a powerful hair dryer without any heat. And soft, clean makeup brushes can be very helpful in getting into all the little crevices you can’t reach with cloth.

    We got this for the toddler room th-cam.com/users/postUgkxdzUap46p9ViXhKZf5mK_bXOb89EHxTqq because of the bladeless feature. Actually has a lot more power than I thought it would. Can still feel the air moving well 6 feet away, which is farther than I would expect from a desk fan. My daughter dropped twice and still works. I haven't checked out how long it lasts on a charge yet, but the air output was still good for the few minutes it was unplugged. My daughter also likes the color lights feature, but I don't really care for it and can be annoying to go through all the options before it turns off. Overall, happy with the purchase, especially for the price

    This isnt really a "cleaning" but more of a mild wiping. They can be broken down further to deep clean.

    As for the top assembly, there are no electrical parts, and frustratingly cannot be taken apart. So to get a full cleaning, just take that mofo (top assembly only) outside and give it a rinse with the hose (inside and out). I have a multi setting nozzle so i use the "flat" stream setting.
    Also, I like to take the top off, grab a can of air duster and turn it on. Start blasting the intake vents and the dust will start shooting up and out. Just make sure you're not breathing it, and are in a place you don't mind throwing dust!

    • @bakkermaarten007
      @bakkermaarten007 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Interesting advice, thank you. But be careful that you don't rinse it too powerfully as the top rim is quite flexible and could easily be damaged, resulting in a less efficient air distribution.

    It is perfectly feasible to take the entire thing apart to clean it properly. Taking the ring off and inner cowl off only gets you so far, and when you go for the entire strip down, boy are the fan bodes furred up.
    I compiled written instructions, but am hesitant to do a video as it is quite fiddly to reverse the production build procedure, and a video would leave many owners with a pile of parts rather than a working but dirty fan.
    Basically, you undo the base screws, disconnect the circuit board from the loom, slide the base from the body, while feeding the loom through a guide tunnel etc etc
    The actual fan blades are more like the compressor blades of a jet engine! They are very delicate and must not be dinged or even scratched since surface blemishes will disrupt the airflow, so long fine brushes and "Q"tips are the order of the day once you have access to the inner sanctum.
    There is no filter within the body. The exterior holes are it, although the motor has a tiny foam pad to filter it's cooling air, but nothing for the main air flow.
    Now I've done both of ours, I will be doing a full strip down at least annually.
    Using the fan at table or desk height rather than on the floor will help creep the interior cleaner.

  • @moonmitten478
    @moonmitten478 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    ive got the larger (cooler only) and this video helped alot i didnt know u could twist the top off like that. Mine does have access to the motor and i was able to take out and wash the multiple plastic fans inside. Btw it is powered by a fan, it just has multiple tunnels the fan pushes the air through to just make the air flow seamless.

    Didn't even bother searching this cause I thought the intake was the only thing to clean 😂 finally done if after 2 years and was absolutely filthy!! When I was cleaning it I found when you take the two pieces apart if you take the empty head piece with no electrics and run the tap through it and then use a hairdryer to dry.. just make sure it's bone dry and cotton buds and hairdryer for the other part don't push hard just use a torch and you can see all the dust in the body give a tap and turn upside down

    When (re)fresh(ed), the dyson fans are fantastic. But they do get clogged and it dampens their performance.However, I'm glad I did not listen to those people screaming 'overpriced', 'my 30$ fan performs equally well'; my Dyson AM06 may be (too) pricey. But it is the only fan that performs as silent, as consistently noisy/silent (white noise sound as opposed to rattling and chugs of wind from other fans), and mimics wind in the room as opposed to chopping air...
    (I still dislike the design, but I got used to it). Also another nice feature: the backlight is hidden behind the housing, so it does not diffuse light into your (bed)room. That's nice.

      Paid $15 for a oscalating Lasko fan 4 years ago. I have only taken it apart once to clean it. Like new & still going strong. Better then paying $300 for this & I noticed a lot of dust up inside the circle part you cannot get to. Which to me would hurt the air flow.

    I just finished deep cleaning my 12" Dyson "Air Multiplier" (AKA a fan) and found that the actual fan inside the lower unit was super plugged up and couldn't be cleaned with just air from the outside. Taking this thing apart was a challenge to get to the internal fan but cleaning it really improved the output of air. This thing isn't really designed to actually get all the dirt out for your average Harry Homeowner to accomplish...poor design really IMHO

    LOL this is a wipe down. I took the circular part off (hollow plastic tube) and used my handheld shower head and blasted water in it, the amount of dust and black soot that comes out is astonishing. Turned it right side up on a towel to let it dry out for a couple days. Noticed the blade on the body motor part was also caked so got a bottle brush and OMG NEVER AGAIN will I buy another POS Dyson. It’s just filled with black soot. No amount of trying to use just the brush would get it clean, it just keeps coming out. So taking it ALL apart now. Trying to clean those holes on bottom is a joke. Watched other YTs to completely take this POS apart and got news for you all, these things are FILLED with dust & black soot & who knows what else. Filters inside caked.
    I vacuum with the brush attachment those bottom holes every week & in one day, there’s already starting to get an accumulation. HORRIBLE DESIGN. $500 garbage!

      The intakes are located at the base of the fans. They are like a fine mesh grille, smallish dots, but not small like a HEPA filter. So plenty of room dust gets pulled into the fans. There are one or two spongy type filters inside the unit, in my AM-07 the filter is right before the fan motor/impeller. Mine is 4-5 years old, so I disassembled the entire mechanism and washed thoroughly. There was plenty of sludgey dust in it. Hoping it runs another 5 years! 🙏🏻

    One of my biggest regrets is buying this fan, it's so overrated and hardly has any power, everyone who comes to my house and experiences it comments on how shit it is. I also bought a dyson Hoover and it too is completely useless, can't go under my bed because of the stupid ball thing, doesn't get in small corners and the separate stick bit has absolutely zero suction. Will never buy a Dyson product again, they are utterly useless, they may look pretty but performance is a pile of turd, save yourself the money people.

    • @MrYnysygwas
      @MrYnysygwas 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You must have a blockage in your Dyson 'hoover'. I have 2 and the suction is almost too strong for a long pile carpet.
      You have cleaned the filters right? If they are dirty they block the airflow. Needs doing every couple of months.
      The same goes for the fan. If the air intake holes get dusted up then less air goes in so less air comes out. I discovered that myself when I thought the fan was lacking power. Once I 'hoovered' the dust from the holes the fan was good again. I would say that everyone that visits when it is on think it is brilliant and say the only down side is the price.
