    If you’ve never used an air filter these are great. th-cam.com/users/postUgkx_dppjvjF8BYEmPSDTcgCUdRsgWYLXNHN I ended up with three after starting out with one. The noise level depends on the 1-3 settings with how hard you want the machine to work. You can also upgrade the filters and get one better for pet hair and smells which is a must have in my home. I noticed the air seemed lighter and easier to breathe when running the machine for the first time. Works great every time. Highly recommended!

    @WiseInetellect 3 ปีที่แล้ว +26

    The instructions specifically say not to pick it up by the blade, the way he says 'you can easily pick it up at the top of the machine'. You're supposed to pick it up at the base, by both hands, and only after the machine has cooled.

    Every six months or so, I remove my filters, covering the inside side of the filter with a plastic bag while I vacuum the outside clean of dust. This helps keep the airflow as good as possible to make the filter last as long as possible, and the bag stops it pulling dust in the other side. Hope that helps you

    • @Burncity10
      @Burncity10 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      yeh, since apparently you can't wash the filters themselves, thats a good idea to clean/vacuum the filter to make it last longer. buying a filter replacement every 6 months or even every year is annoying, but it's a requirement i guess... knowing me, i'd rather clean the filter and re-use it again and again :)

    • @VacTech1
      @VacTech1  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I do think vacuuming off the filter every few months will help prolong filter life. However, Dyson's HEPA glass filters trap lots of dust permanently in the pleats, so they still need to be replaced as needed. They will permanently clog eventually, which will greatly reduce airflow.

    • @JS-fb6ww
      @JS-fb6ww ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately the only problem with your cleaning method is that the charcoal filter absorbs contaminants from the air all the time and loses its effectiveness of within a year's time.

    • @VacTech1
      @VacTech1  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kudlalive It doesn't require an air conditioned room, but because it's always filtering the air, it's designed for closed environments. You can use it with the windows open, but it'll be filtering outside air, which is redundant. It's great for air conditioned rooms, and during cold seasons as a filtered heater!

    I have one of the first and It's still going. I use the Dyson Hot + Cool to help with the temperature is a rather large room and it does the trick. Also, friends had a toddler and we needed a heater/fan that's toddler safe. The only complaint is that the heater has warped and discolored the inside of the unit, but it's not that noticeable and doesn't seem to effect the operation of the unit.

    • @morganlobby
      @morganlobby 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      If you are talking about the AP01 or AP02, the warping is the result of a recalled issue. Go to www.dysonrecall.com to replace it. Dyson was kind enough to give me the HP01 for free since the normal replacement wasn’t in stock.

      @@morganlobby Thank you. Some time ago I tried talking with the Dyson support team and got nowhere. "Your heater isn’t affected by this recall." Great articulate review! Have had mine for bout two years and zero issues! LOVVVVVVE IT AND even where a/c has been a necessity yet have not had to install as never expected it but this magnificent machine has done such a great job! Never issues with Dyson. WISH HE MADE EVERYTHING, ESPECIALLY PRINTERS. May be more expensive than the rest but will last for life as has my vacuum still going, the very first model going on bout 20 years!! I would like to know, though as want to get a second one of these purifiers what the difference/improvements may be with newer models???? i can find no information on this. ALSO about the filters where best to buy and if they are anywhere near as effective as the original. i am writing from a country where the appliance is $800 to start so the filters would be probably coupla hundred, so this info would be valuable.

    • @VacTech1
      @VacTech1  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the comment! The newer models have better filters, and more "quality-of-life" features. For example, they can oscillate in almost a complete circle, have app connectivity, and give real-time air filtration feedback. They may move more air too. Although they look great, I'm still very happy with my first gen HP01!

  • @MylesV

    Nice review. But around 11:50, I'm surprised you mentioned that they're not washable as a negative. There are no good air purifiers with washable filters, you cannot wash all of the particles and odors out of the filter. Also, the activated carbon loses its effectiveness at removing odors and VOCs over time. That's not something that can be washed out. What is disappointing to me however is the lack of a prefilter. Many machines will have a prefilter that can be at least vacuumed off, my air cleaner catches lots of things like pet hair on the prefilter that simply isn't worth wasting on the HEPA filter. I think this is a good fit for someone who wants a heater/fan that happens to clean the air as well along with having the cachet of being made by Dyson, however as an air purifier there are better options for this price point.

      I mention my disappointment in the lack of washable filters, because all Dyson vacuums have washable filters, and I love that feature. Back in the day, I made and fitted washable filters for the basic box unit air purifiers I was using, and I really liked it. I get why they don't though.

The air quality was unsafe, so the stores all were closed and everyone was told to seal doors and windows and stay inside with a purifier on. People were rigging things, and at the end my very loud purifier had black filter. Instead of paying $30 for new filters I got this very Dyson one during Black Friday before they ran out (I had wanted the new WiFi model, but they did sell out). The biggest difference is immediately I noticed very little sound! If you speak on the phone or Zoom you can leave it going. Level 1 wide mode is so gentle, so soft, you barely feel any breeze, which is perfect if you did not want any papers to blow away. Yet, it has a wonderful quick air cleaning and my sinuses started opening up not long after it began, and my cat’s dripping nose also got better in a day. (This may save me vet bills.) I think it looks much nicer in person than in photos. One thing to note is if you use a heater/purifier you should also use elsewhere in your room a humidifier as the air gets very dry. Dyson sells one version of fan plus humidifier, and a lot of other variations at different price points, and different color combinations.

      jentothewren I’m no expert on this specific air purifier, but air purifiers with carbon filters are known to cut down on volatile organic compounds. Cigarette smoke is a volatile organic compound. I’m actually researching air purifiers because I need to keep my air clean for my bird! You need to get a purifier that can handle the amount of space in your apartment, though.

    Okay I live in Az where it gets pretty hot. One day I bought a $40 fan and put it next to my Dyson .... that fan out performed the dyson in cooling and pushing the air. What do you do to get substantially cool air out of your Dyson (tricks on placement, etc)?

    • @VacTech1
      @VacTech1  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have mine in a room with a window AC. The dyson is a few feet away from the AC, but in the air path of the AC, and It pushes the air toward my sitting area. Works well in my setup.
      There's a lot of fans out there that will move more air than the dysons, but the great thing about dysons is that they're also air purifiers and heaters (depending on the model). Right now they kind-of have a monopoly on their feature-set.
