this was an awesome arcade back then, i remember playing it and was thrilled by it. this one came out in 1988. another game similar to this i like is The Super Spy which came out in 1990 in the arcade and on the Neo Geo. liked that one, too. it was basically the first FPS game because u saw your hands onscreen like we do in modern FPS games today. the master system version of Dead Angle looks good.. but the game lacks frames for enemy animations.. looks choppy.
I'm having a bit of an issue with my suspension of disbelief regarding this game because of one simple thing: HOW THE FUCK DOES HE STAY IN THE AIR LIKE THAT?
It just dawned on me: this game is basically the spiritual prequel to Dynamite Duke, albeit with a Gangland-era theme in contrast to Dynamite Duke's present-day/near-future world theme. It's even made by the same company, Seibu Kaihatsu.
This must be an early arcade release due to the graphics quality and the fact your guy is just an outline that's either red or yellow depending on i'm guessing whether you are in range of getting hit or to hit targets.
CaRcypher late 80s, the side-scrolling and versus fighters became big in that era. This was not an “early” era game, with pixels and dots flying around the screen.
WARNING: At the las stage, if you loss all of your lives you have to start the stage again, and IMPORTANT: if you beat all the enemies and accidentaly you shot the girl, you have a game over, no matter what, you can't continue. Very dissapointing.

The way this game's set up can only be described as "Punch Out with guns".
Man, this game blew me away at the time. Definitely one of my favorites in the arcade even though I sucked at it.

It's actually a sequel to Empire City: 1931, which is also made by the same developer.

Not exactly, this was how the game was presented, even the Master System port did it this way.

And if you try to shoot the guy when the shield first breaks he automatically shoots you and it’s also game over.
