    • DIY Yard Drainage: How...
    Anywhere there's a pothole in your yard you want to spec in one of these Inlet basins. Potholes are found money in my business because it's an easy way to collect the bulk water and evacuate it quickly. You just slip in an inline drain. These are directional tees. I love them. Pay attention that you're installing it correctly and you don't install it backwards. When the water goes through that inlet it's going to go down into that tee and then it has a sweeping motion to get it going in the right direction.

    As a plumbing engineer the location of the holes aren’t near as important as installing the filter fabric outside of the gravel! Nice job.

      5 years ago I searched youtube for diy French drain. Ultimately found French drain man & knew this is what I want. I put in 195 ft exactly to his specs & extremely happy with the results.

    If you want to really get it going use a wye fitting and a 45

  • @mikemorgan5015

    While you are technically and professionally correct, these short turn sanitary tees don't do much at all in this orientation. All you have to do is look into the side inlet an you can tell how little directional flow is imparted on the stream. And in this case, with the drain inches from the tee, you won't notice any difference. If you really want directional flow influence use a combo, which is a wye and 1/8 bend(old school term for a 45) in one fitting. Given the lack of elevation you have to play with here, you'd probably want to offset it so the combo is also laying at a 45. I.e. your drain would be a few inches off the center line of that tubing. Sanitary tees are really to ease the sharp edge when the tee is vertical and keep drainage from above from entering the side outlet. All that said, you aren't wrong. haha!

    Isn't the directional T supposed to be taped when it is installed? That one shown was not.

    • @FRENCHDRAINMAN
      @FRENCHDRAINMAN  19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      We taped it before we buried it. We show the connections in many of the videos. I feel bad because I hold the guys up, but I try not to get in their way too much during a video. When I'm done shooting the video, we go back and tape everything up.

    How much water do you think these inlet basins will be able to move? We had four inches of rain comes down within a few hours today. Neighboring homes yards slope toward ours so we catch our rain as well as everyone else’s. We hand dug trenches today to keep the water away from the house. We had a river flowing!

    • @FRENCHDRAINMAN
      @FRENCHDRAINMAN  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      This video, it shows 4 inch grates. And you have to remember they're on a 4 inch pipe. Once you overwhelm the 4" pipe, you're not going to take in any more water than what the 4" pipe can handle. I'd run double 4-inch pipes.
