Water doesn't discriminate. Doesn't matter how nice the yard is or what zip code it is. Some of the nice yards that have a lot of landscape and a pool area have the biggest water problems because of all the obstacles.
I've stepped on that ads pipe and have actually balanced on it. Though I will say it's like the pipe changes after it's been in the ground because I've gone right thought them with shovels
Lowe's has a green colored fabric made from recycled plastic. It looks to be about 1/16" thick. Will this stuff work well for wrapping the aggregate and pipe ? Supposedly it blocks weed roots and will pass water through.
@@FRENCHDRAINMAN The spin effect is okay if you make it happen really quick and fade out. You can get the desired effect a lot quicker without making people watching dizzy.
I really enjoy your videos. Excited for my DIY project. Feeling confident. I get now why you use a double barrel system. Quick question though that I'm unclear about. Do you connect the two pipes at the end with a Y connector and attach a popup emitter to one of the pipes?
That's a loaded question. Need slope to discharge with a pop-up emitter otherwise you need to lift the water with a small sump pump. I'm assuming you have no drop off of any kind?
@@FRENCHDRAINMAN I have slope. What goes at the end of the 2 corrugated high-octane perforated pipes? If I put an emitter at the end of one pipe, do I close the other one with an end plug or connect it to the other pipe? It would be helpful if you set up the initial situation by telling us where the water is coming from, where it enters your system (I finally saw it at the 9:30 mark, seeing the large grate). But it would help if you point it out, so we know what you are doing. You spend too much time trashing the bad stuff (yes it's trash - but I don't need to be told 20x that it's trash. Yes you said it 20x. Great video though! Good stuff. I am having difficulty finding that blue and yellow pipe in Omaha or Lincoln NE. Obviously a superior product.
Looking to do something similar myself. What width of landscape fabric do you use to wrap the burrito using the double pipe system? Is it 3’ or 5’ or some other width?
This is great, much appreciated. I’ll definitely pick some up. Just out of curiosity, what situation would you be using the smaller 3ft wide roll? Single pipe solutions? Smaller pipe 3” vs 4”?
I've seen a video where you used the high octane pipe but didn't wrap you guys cut it at the top and put the sod back, but this video you are wrapping the hole pipe ( burrito)with the nogeotexttile fabric. So which way is better? And why do it one way and then do a different way????
Hello I am a DIYer and love your videos. I notice in all of the videos Ive watched you place the system within 4-6" of surface then sod over. I am concerned that during drought months my grass will die over the system. Is it OK to keep the system 10-12" under the grass?
@@FRENCHDRAINMAN so if my high octane is 24" down with 6" of stone on top and 12" of dirt I would need to build gravel basins that would come to the surface with a blind inlet on them? On a 200' run how many blind inlets would I place?
I have a single 4 inch (or maybe 6) drain pipe that runs across thw back of my house, maybe 40 ft and then down the side to the cur, maybe 100 ft. There are 4 small catch drains with in the first 20 ft. Would adding a 2nd line after the first 40 ft or so help it drain faster and increase the flow? Hope this makes sense.
@French Drain Man can i use the high octane pipes to collect water from the spout system? or do those have to be solid? Also what is the difference between this blue and yellow vs just the yellow?
Unfortunately that's all we have in our area. My salesman from Ewing irrigation told me to go to lowes they had it and wouldn't have to charge me delivery. Where can I get the Hoffman pipe?
How come you don’t use a single 6” pipe? A 6” pipe hold mores volume of water vs. two 4” pipes? Is it because it’s what you have on hand? 4” pipe is roughly 0.65 gallons per foot where as a 6” holds 1.47 gallons per foot! I have been using nonwoven geotextile 4 mil fabric for the last 3-4 years. I have to cut mine down to size depending on trench depth and width. Your videos have helped me out and I refer many customers to view your videos to understand how and why I do my drainage systems the way I do.
I figured that was the reason. The 6” HDPE -14 slot pipe cost me 1.45 per ft. Or 1.12 per ft over 1,000 ft. I always use it when I need to really move water.
@@MARKE911 who makes the (6") 14 slot you reference? For yard Drainage 6" doesn't go under sidewalk or fit in a cored curb. A pain to pull under sprinkler pipes too. Thank you for commenting.
Great, another question answered. Is there an application for a coiled pipe system as an advanced dry-well? With pipe and gravel All wrapped in fabric? 🤔 thanks
The question is why would you do that . The other question is what is the pipes stability like when multiple layers on on top of eachother. Probably not ideal. A dry well is a proven technology.
asusreviews I have about 250 of ADS drain with sock installed and it only lasted a couple of years. Not going to make that mistake again. I literally have a stream of water that goes right over it during heavy rain. You should at least use the heavy duty mesh, not the stuff you find in stores.
Wish I could hire you but, we live in Central NY. We just finished building on the west side of Owasco Lake. Do you know of any companies that service the Cayuga County area that you would recommend that use the systems that you use?
Because its not just a hole in the ground. You have to have something to support the soil/rock or whatever is on top. A hole is a hole. Having a big hole in your yard is a liability.
