I'm 65. I was there last night with my 37 year old daughter. I knew every word of The Joker. I told my daughter, "I wore out my copy of Fly Like An Eagle in the 70s."

Is this the guy that made the riff to ‘Fly Like an Eagle’ and ‘Dark Hours’ with his band sometime in the 70s? First heard of his music in Mindhunter on Netflix as a 2000s kid. Great artist.

Miller is playing a tiny 12 string, not a solo instrument, but he is doing some cool stuff for his turn. Then John comes in with something playful and original, a perfect counterpoint that takes it to another level, then Steve’s voice takes us even further. Six minutes of pure joy.

@@christianlandrum892I’m sure it’s a great sounding guitar, but we’re not really hearing the guitar here (at least not it’s true acoustic tone), but rather the signal from the internal pickup/electronics which I’m sure get’s EQ’d pretty heavily before it comes out through the PA. If you really wanted to hear the guitar, a mic in front of the soundhole would be a better choice, but I understand that’s not practical or convenient for live performances like these.

haven't had the pleasure of seeing Steve live, but this was great, and his voice is solid still. I would say though that Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers have a lot of tunes that the crowd sings along to. Like all of them lol

My dad raised me up on the "Book Of Dreams" album and "The Joker" album in the late 70's. My first live concert was The Steve Miller Band when I was in my 20's. I found out many years later my dad's first concert was also The Steve Miller Band in HIS 20's. Like father, like son I guess. I'm now 51, and dad is 72. I'm going to go visit him this September.

I wonder if all the space cowboy -🤠 -groups have a party together and if so they should play this on autorepeat. It felt like the right moment to listen to it again .

Je surveille les concerts, mais jamais Steve ne vient en France 😢... S'il vous plaît Monsieur, si vous venez, nous serons des milliers pour vous applaudir et chanter (même avec un anglais approximatif...).... Mais venez, nous vous attendons... I remember The Beach Boys came out onto the far side of the field in corvette convertibles and rolled slowly along the side to he stage. Saw the Grateful Dead there a few months later, another hot day in the sun, it was almost unbearable.

I remember the 8 tracks and no cassettes took over quickly. Speakers, the bigger, the better. CB radio with antennae whipping in the wind. Everybody had a name. "what's your handle?" Red Riding Hood (red hair). Hip hugger jeans that drug the ground, patches. We were cool! To be on stage, there had to be talent, not just good looks and autotune to make you sound good. Music not filthy like today. John has talent and can play his instrument. Enjoyed this SO-SO much. Thanks !
