It's funny how Peter and Jan, the two middle children of the family, had the most iconic lines on the show. Peter: "We're having pork chops and applesauce." Jan: "Marcia, Marcia, Marcia."
To be fair it looks like there are three chops in that pan and I figure (if this was an actual situation and not a comedy show) she'll pre-fry them first and then bake them in the oven to finish them off--- that's how pork chops are done, at least how I know it. The show is never realstic (part of its quirky charms, in a way). In one episode Alice takes the finished cookies from the oven and then immediately places each one into the cookie jar when they're scalding hot--- doesn't even put them on a cooling rack first. You're basically telling the viewers, These are store bought. Really, Ann B. Davis should have said, "Guys, hang on, this is loco. You have to cool these off before dropping them into a container, otherwise they'll congeal into a big mass". LOL!
...I think we all know middle-aged Children tend to seek out their 'personality traits' more than the Older / Younger siblings, because they feel they're in the shadow of the respected (Older), and the cute (Younger) Kids.... Peter imitating 'Bogie' may have been a stretch, but... he wound up the RICHEST & HOTTEST Brady, so be *YOURSELF* , Kids, your 'porkchops' WILL come, w/ that 'sauce'..... (0:34)
Not the best episode by far ... Peter licking his psychological wounds ("Nobody likes me, I have no charisma or personality") is boring and pathetic; but it _does_ have that iconic quote that people enjoy. Which reminds me: Right before this scene happens, Peter is in the bedroom watching a movie on TV and we hear actors doing voices for Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall. So, apparently every 12 year old boy is into film noir. 😄 Actually I enjoy it but it wasn't until I was a full fledged adult that I grasped and understood its darkness and the whole angst and doom of it. There's another scene in _The Personality Kid_ where Chris Knight even does a British accent as Peter, and carries a brolly, to give his demeanor some pizzazz (based on another movie or program he saw alone on TV, poor kid). Yeesh. I mean, who gave this boy such a complex, such a negative self image? Too funny. Anyway, sometimes I just don't understand the writers on TBB. However I have to be realstic, this series wasn't high caliber programming.
Yeah, Bobby got some good lines a lot of the time, since he was the youngest. Jan and Peter, the two "middles", often seemed to be plagued with issues by the writers--- flaws and foibles and emotional complexes and whatnot. I often felt that they didn't know what to do with these characters but figured that they had to spotlight each kid in at least one episode every season to keep things balanced and fair.
