This movie traumatise me as 12 years old. Start watching it by accident without knowing what it is about. What a dreadful and tragic story, but nerveless excellent movie.

I agree wholeheartedly. It's almost too powerful to watch again, but I do every few years, even though it seriously affects me ever time. I bought the book by Tim Krabbé. It's not long, but well worth reading.
I could only watch this movie twice, but it still haunts me. On the second viewing, I kept hoping that she wouldn't get in the car. Just a brutal, excellently made movie.
