    At first glance, I thought the P23i hotspot was a bit narrower than the SRT7i. After comparing the two on a wall at different distances, they seem about the same. The P23i has wider spill. It also gets much hotter at sustained Turbo. This could be due to both different heat regulation on the SRT7i and the hand being further away from the head of the light with an overhand grip. More testing is needed. I tried to focus mostly on the higher end of the illumination range in this video. Thank you.

      It's definitely got the candela. Holster for your Sam Browne or you could clip onto a tac vest depending on how you generally load out. Good luck and stay safe!!

      @@L5-SAR awesome, strobe on my tm9k tac.. almost works on them, most stay away but some get too close for comfort.. think a more focused beam, good lumen and candela, should work.. seems I firstly bought wrong light🤣

    The SRT7 is an excellent light. It is the only Nite core flashlight that will operate normally while it is charging.
    Together with the Shargeek power pack, I've been able to keep it on the entire night at 1000+ lumens, to illuminate a night hike. All other flashlights were at 200 lumens max - in order to stretch battery life for the entirety of the night.
    Thank you for your great review.
    Greetings,
    Anthony

      @@L5-SARhi..will it happen if I install a normal 21700 battery instead of the original battery of the nitecore srt7i elfener, for example, the molicell p45b values match a very close battery?

    Another excellent video Jim. Same here , i have both the SRT7I and the P23I and i have to say the SRT7i a bit more blinding vs the P23I. I have to admit that the SRT7 is a bit bigger but i carry it on the Fenix ALC-01 belt clip which it fits perfectly. For me it's for self defense purpose. Now the P23i does the job also but i have to give an extra star to the SRT7i for stronger candela, bigger head for striking if needed and i notice it doesn't get hot as quick VS the 23. Also to choose between 1 lumen to 3000 lumens is a plus. But they are both excellent flashlight. It depends what you are using it for. Looking forward to your part 2 and maybe compare between the 2 of them.

    • @L5-SAR
      @L5-SAR  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Interesting observation about the ALC-01 clip. What would you like to see in part 2? Thanks for your contribution to the discussion.

      @@L5-SAR About the clip, it's now discontinued. So i don't want to break mine . I would like to see the SRT7i and the P23i during a complete field test and see what you think between the two of them. Which one you would prefer during a mock search of perpetrators etc..... Now I did some test this afternoon and i have to say i prefer the tail cap of the P23i . Try it yourself, you will find the strobe is quicker on the 23 VS the SRT7i. So now I'm more confuse to which one I want to carry everyday on my clip lol. Alex Zuo observation is very interesting.

    • @L5-SAR
      @L5-SAR  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you look at the two tailcaps, the 'top' switch of the P23i extends out further and it is textured. There is less overall surface area for the bottom switch. So, the 'difference' between the two is more pronounced and I find the P23i quicker as well, especially with gloves (already done that test indoors). It seems to be a clearly superior 'tac' light. I can do a law enforcement oriented series of exercises at the Arbor Hills Nature Preserve and show beam differences and then maybe run a kinetic exercise, and a gloved exercise. Those should highlight usage differences. Personally, I'm thinking the only use I'd have for the SRT7i is as a helmet- or shoulder-mounted light to do tree line searches. I"ll probably show that as well. Thanks again.

    I have both two flashlights and I prefer p23i for tactical use because its more easy to carry and strobe when countering sudden danger, the SRT7i I dunno sir but actually after I tested both two I found no significant difference. For long distance shot, p23i is my best choice so far,and acebeam p17 which I bought last year is my choice for search and rescue purpose for its perfect long distance plus flood light function. Good vid sir!

    • @L5-SAR
      @L5-SAR  ปีที่แล้ว

      The P23i is definitely an easier carry and it has a very robust spill at distance. Have you tried the P18? It's a beast. I've got both the P17 and P18 and use them regularly. Thanks.

    Could you tell me in your opinion and experience which one has the best focus with less artifacts or dark ring comparing the nitecore srt7i the fenix tk22 tac or the fenix tk20r v2.

    • @L5-SAR
      @L5-SAR  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You ask superb questions. I don't have direct experience with the TK22 Tac. Are you interested in specific ranges or levels of illumination (like High/Turbo on the TK20R V2). I could do a comparison test at Oak Point between the two, although I would have to pre-record the test areas during the daytime for best comparison. Thanks again!

    How long does the srt7i stay on turbo? I wish you would've showed run times

    • @L5-SAR
      @L5-SAR  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      A turbo burn-down is scheduled for part 2 of the review, but I'm running two months behind schedule due to dealing with health issues with my mother. There is a very gradual step-down that is already evident on the video. So, how long does it stay on full output Turbo? Just like any other light. Not very long. I can not show you actual run times without an integrating sphere. I don't have that kind of money and the results would only be valid under lab conditions. Thank you.

      With a bit of practice, yes. I've gravitated towards using it as a helmet-mounted light - there is a video on the channel that shows this. Thank you.

    When in turbo mode, does the flashlight get hot?

    • @L5-SAR
      @L5-SAR  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Temp regulation seems quite good on this model. The extra length means that your hand (especially in an overhand grip) stays further away from the head ara of the flashlight, which is the primary source of heat. So, in the last segment, I had to turn the P23i off because it was too hot to hold. The SRT7i was still okay to hold. Hope that helps.
