Nathan, the feature that puts your vehicle in park if it moves with the door open. Can actually be overridden in the case of a car Jack. If you toggle the brake and gas simultaneously, (brake first) it will move forward, how fast? Im not sure. Maybe you could perform that experiment. Keep the videos coming 👍.

Just wondering I’d the steering wheel with paddle shifters from a BMW E90 will fit on my 2008 BMW 528ix? I am new to BMWs as I am a recent Audi convert. Am I correct that my car is a E 60 chassis?

Love this all in one spot on your BMW channel! I'd love to see more on this (both convenience and service items). Two I can recall of the top off my head is:
No Key Start - the trick to start the car normally, turn it off, pull the key, hold the brake, hit start again (car starts). Now get out and lock the door with the key on your pocket. It's a great way to warm up the cabin on sub 0 mornings (or keep it warm when you go into a store for ~10 min since they deleted the REST button!) without getting your car stolen here in the great white north.
and
Pathway Lighting - hit the left or right blinker or brights when the car is off to turn on the different headlights at night
Plus
Hold the FOB Unlock to drop all the windows and open the sunroof on a hot day (in the US you have to use the old school key in the door to close them all) AND that the car can be coded to hold the lock button on the FOB to close it up
Lastly (a little off topic)
Aspherical Side Mirrors - better replacements for when your side mirrors permanently fog, flake away - allows you to see your blind spot without turning your head, but looks like and works as a normal mirror without adding a cheap looking, disorienting 'bubble' stick on mirror.
The worst part is when you start to drive off with the door open and you hear the parking pin being flicked like it’s on the damn Wheel of Fortune
You can drive with your door open if you have your seatbelt on. Drivers ofc.
2015 X3 25d. Is it possible to recode such that when on cruise while descending a hill the transmission will not downshift and the brakes come on to hold the set speed?
I like the park feature came in handy for me
Nat I have a 2009 535i x high miles 192 000 Red light oil pressure came on what would you recommend is flickering between red and orange is it possible that the timing jumped oil pump chain or clogged oil pick up

The hdc in the idrive is Hill Decent Control. So this car does have hdc
I have a 02 745il here that the coolant res leaked on the abs module connection causing the module to get burned, harness and plug melted . Ever see this?

I just changed out my headlights on my e60 they are not fully working was told I might need to recode can u break that down for me
Carlos, I believe there is a calibration procedure you need to run. Although I've never changed the headlight assembly on my E60, I do have a headlight maintenance process in my Autel 906BT scan tool. Mine has adaptive headlights so I'm certain if they're ever changed they need to be recalibrated & that's probably what this procedure is.
Hill decent control can be turned off in the idrive on my 08 535xi

there's quite a lot of difference between reliability of different engines from different years, so for best advice you'll have to tell us what do you want to buy and what's your budget. it also depends on where you live, in my place most of e39s have rusted out by now.
Hard to go wrong with an BMW e39 but I strongly advise you to buy an inline-6 model ONLY. The V8 models (540i & M5) are sublime but have unreasonably high maintenance costs in comparison to the inline-6 models (525i, 528i, 530i). The manual transmission versions are sublime, if so inclined.

Just so you know if you have your seatbelt on the car will not throw itself into park with the door open.
I just read your comment and it helped me out on my Ram work truck. If I put it into gear with the door open it will not move and it alerts me. I just tried it with the seat belt on in the truck moved. I work on infrastructure and sometimes you want your door open as you're moving slowly looking at something on the pavement.Thanks man.
@@stevemcraemanager7119 don't work in a trade anymore but can imagine how frustrating that would be. I'd go cut an extra buckle from the junk yard. Although there new cats might be able to feel the tension on the belt too
