John Ward I know what you mean. He’s sooooo perfectly smooth and polished in his salesman’s patter. It’s a pleasure to watch a true professional ply his trade.

I loved the Jaguar leaping off the bonnet on the older Jags.

Excellent write up on the Jaguar X308's. I own a 2001 XJR as of the end of last year. I've been driving Mercedes, BMW's and many other high-end German marque's for decades. If I only new about these cars earlier in life … I would not have been driving the German marque's. It would have been Jaguars!

Love my 1992 XJ6 Sovereign. The salesman is absolutely right about the improvements after 1991. The only spot of rust on my '92 is at the RH rear quarter, just below the D-Pillar window, at the seam the roof pillar meets the rear quarter panel, due a sub-par collision repair... Everything that hasn't been touched is perfect and rust free.

Sounds better than my x308. Had to weld the chassis rails up after serious rust where it meets the subframe mounts. All good now though

I will always remember the first time I saw my first XJR & it was in the perfect colour black, to think you can get one of these for a few thousand now

A nice video, but be aware, the later cars do suffer rust.
Key areas to check are around the front and rear screens, the wheel arches and the front wings.
Check under the car if possible, there is a lot of steel that can corrode.
Yes but the best you can afford, but never write off the lower priced cars.
Do as much research as possible, talk to mechanics mot testers owners etc.
Be careful, a car with a lot of issues will still drive like a dream.
If you buy one you will be hooked.
    Enjoy.

in the states it's hard to find a jag with a true 'full service history' from most private sellers. I've looked at tons of 95-03 xj8s and the majority are crapshoots to buy - although the entry price for the cars themselves is well under 5000 now

I had an XJ40 1993 Australian delivered model and it was a total lemon! Electronics gave no end of trouble.
Lovely looking car but always something wrong with it.
