I’ve had my 2021 Status 160 since July of 21 and put over 500 miles on it. I’ve had zero issues, not even a flat tire. I’m a slightly above average rider but nothing crazy. It climbs pretty good and descends exceptionally well, even took it to a lift service bike park (Stevens Pass) last summer where it went down every trail there. Brakes are actually fantastic and the NX has been really good too. I’ve only changed the saddle and added a 30 tooth oval chain ring for better range on climbs. Highly recommend for intermediate riders who want a banging bike at a fire price

I ride a Status 160 as my main trail/enduro bike.... It's a savage! I don't notice a whole lot of difference pedaling on climbs as other trail bikes I've owned, but that's not where it shines anyway... It's going down where this bike comes alive...... It's rock solid with zero issues... I've swapped out the NX to GX, and the Code R to the RSC's....

Been a Specialized guy for about six years now... and only recently started getting turned off by their pricing. Likely because of the post pandemic blow outs going on... which are basically a kick in the nuts, and slap in the face, for anyone that was forced to pay an exorbitant amount of money for their 2020-2021 purchases. Specialized inflated pricing, to support their excessive marketing, does make my skin crawl... but at the end of the day, my money goes to the brand with the biggest R&D. If I were constantly riding enduro, an alloy romper, like the Status, would be among my first choices.

    • @michaelcerruti5674

They keep the price so low on thos bike because they don't spend money on marketing. I got mine in 2019 when they only distributed it to 10 retailers accross the u.s. Great deal but I will say it’s definitely frustrating for people trying to sell their bikes including myself. Not that I am trying to sound greedy but I am currently trying to sell my stumpy evo expert to get another bike and even if it sells for an okay price I can get it. But since prices are going down people are gonna look at all the expensive used ones and go “well I can buy the same bike for only 700 bucks more” honestly it’s the way of life and it’s not the end of the world but I am definitely not the only person that is frustrated with this.

I'm perfectly happy with my Stumpy Expert as my non-cheater unmotorized trail bike. Truth be told, I'm tapped out on making any big ticket purchaes without selling off something else of comparable value.
I fulfill my N+1 fantasy by buying and selling old, cheap bikes and flipping them for profit and dismantling some for parts. I just picked up an old Redline Monocog 26 that had a Chris King headset and a set of XTR v-brakes which are worth about twice what I paid for the bike. I raided my parts bin to replace those harvested parts and have a functioning bike for $0 + whatever I value my used parts at. This one is getting a set of BMX bars thrown at it to make a 26er BMX-ish bike for the new pump track in my area.
When I get bored with that, I'll sell it and buy something else fun. I've been keeping myself entertained this way for 20 years now.

I got exactly the same one and like always, I must build up my confidence. So I rode at Spider Mountain Bike Park. My brakes failed and damaged my thumb but will get some new uncontaminated pads. Meanwhile, it did great on XC trails by firming the suspension. I don't mind the snail speed or weight since it makes my thighs bigger. However, it got me wondering, is long travel and full suspension actually needed? On firm I climb, corner, and ride better. The FS is open on black lines and drops. Do we need another bike when it's all embedded on this bike.

Suzuki and Kawasaki 125’s are about $3300 with far superior fork, shock, brakes, tires, rims, frame, gears/transmission, than a mtb……. and also a motor $$. MTB’s don’t need to be nearly as beefed up as a motorcycle and also don’t need a motor. So realistically it should be no problem making a ridiculously good mtb for about half of $3300 or less.
