Historical ties spanning several centuries ... a Kenyan girl's journey to pursue her dreams ...
Nearly 20 years ago, Mwamaka Sharifu, a Kenyan girl, traveled to China to study Traditional Chinese Medicine. Now, she returns again to Taicang, Suzhou City, to seek professional assistance and inspiration as she plans to open a TCM clinic in Kenya. Thanks to the long-standing friendship between China and Kenya and opportunities brought by the Belt and Road Initiative, Mwamaka Sharifu's life has been transformed and is ushering in a new adventure.

Chinese involvement in Africa has lifted many people from poverty. Millions of Africans have been lifted from poverty through Chinese built infrastructure, cheaper communication devices like mobile phones and, low cost machinery that can be used for value addition, cheaper motorcycles that have given millions of young people a chance to start own transport businesses etc.

...so true Admiral Cheng He and his crew was there (eastern coast of Africa) in the year "1421" - I've read this book 1421 by a British Admiral Gavin Menzies - was born in China whom he develop a strong bond with the "Ah Ma" who brought him up till the age of 9 where the family return to Britain. When he was interviewed and ask about his relation with China. His reply was the saddest moment in his life was to leave Ah Ma n still is! He sadly passed away in 2022 (RIP) Mr Gavin🙏

Amazing story. I tried studying Chinese when I was a child but I was not successful. I never missed listening to China Radio international (Kiswahili). China's friendship with Africa should be supported to ensure mutual growth and respect. My dream remains to visit Guangzhou. I know it will come true soon.

Amezing, i rumember in early 80's in my locality in noqadisho there were korean family who had a restourant and their kids used to play with us and we very fluent in somali language more then their own language.

I am Indonesian, but one of my ancestors came from China in ming dynasty, in Zheng He huge expedition to South East Asia, which one of it a Muslim Noble man from Southern China, Hui tribe, whose daughter marriage to last King of Majapahit Kingdom, King Bravijaya, and her son who also my ancestor became the first King of Demak Kingdom, and the his female grandchildren married a Javanese Noble man who has also a blood from a Muslim Chinese leader in one of a Ming Dynasty province which right now part of Vietnam. But either me or my big family would never claimed we are Chinese
