(Forza Motorsport VS Gran Turismo 7 Ferrari F8 Tributo Comparison In Depth Car Model Details th-cam.com/video/NLTqgikRzAc/w-d-xo.html ) | I tried something new - I added some commentary. Should I continue doing commentary or not? The only issue is that it makes the video much longer, and I don't really feel confident about it. Haha, I hate the sound of my own voice and find it hard to talk without going off on tangents about irrelevant stuff. Nevertheless, I gave it a shot. Please give feedback, good or bad; it's needed. I personally prefer watching videos without commentary, but let me know your thoughts. I won't be offended! The commentary isn't scripted; I'm just winging it! You are definitely NOT biased. In many aspects I’m appalled how bad Forza looks. The lighting is genuinely the worst. Forza 5 looked better in every aspect with its lighting engine. Hell in some aspects Forza 4 looks better than the new one. Lighting is total garbage and brings the game down

I think they wanted to boast that they have real-time ray tracing (RT) in gameplay, trying to mock Gran Turismo's development choices. But look at The Crew 3 - the game looks beautiful and has zero RT. Well, I might be wrong, but I'm sure it doesn't have RT, and the car models are really good. The game looks brilliant, considering I was not a fan of The Crew 2. They should have left it alone; most people wouldn't even know if they added it or not. Ray tracing is overhyped and not really needed if you have a good workaround. Then, you can put more effort into the game without putting pressure on the console.

I wouldn't say the lighting is "bad". It definitely is more realistic if you compare it to real life, as well as the coloring. The problem really are the textures, models and reflections, as well as the TAA making the image blurry when moving and that white haze in sunlight. If they fix those, I think forza will be the most realistic looking racing game to date. They really need a specific, big update for a graphical overhaul.

Now this car I can tell you some imperfections about FM's version and how GT7 got it right. I own this car in real life.
Notice the rubber on the hood just over the headlight? That is in GT7 but not FM.
The side skirt is supposed to have a red pin stripe along the bottom. In FM it is white. It's red on the other parts though. Odd. But GT7 got it right.
Also, the glossy black plastic pieces around car, like the front and rear garnish pieces for instance, they're correct in GT7. In FM, they're grayed out and have a rocky like texture to them.
Headlights and tails lights look like the real thing in GT7. It just looks more realistic in GT7.
The paint looks like the real thing in GT7. In FM I have no idea what they're doing with car paint.
Look closely at the rear "Type R" badge. It's a bit smudged on FM and also thin. GT7 looks like the real thing.
The muffler is Shiney as hell and chrome in FM. Inside and out. They're supposed to appear more like a metal/titanium color, and the inside of the tips should be a dark gray/black.
I can go on and on, but you get the idea

One of my favorite small details in GT is the gas cap cover. That it isn’t 100% perfect with the rest of the body. It’s not a texture on the car, it’s a different piece that is just off in some way. Rounded edges that stuck out by a mm or two, maybe the cover is angled in by a mm. It’s looks just like on a real car. You have to really look to see it, it’s not obvious, but it’s such a crazy attention to detail that PD didn’t have to do, but did that makes the car look so true to life.

when you were talking about the wheels. I believe that gt uses a lower poly model in races which accounts for the wheels too. Since they probably figured the car would be in motion anyways, we wouldnt mind the wheels being lower res and poly count. Im not sure about forza though because i dont play the game but i would assume theirs is a low poly version as well just not as low poly as gt's. so while the wheel model looks better in the replay for forza, the lighting or something doesnt look natural when hitting the wheel. I want to play forza motorsport to see how enjoyable the career mode is compared to gt7 because I've enjoyed what gt7 has had to offer. But I will definitely now make sure I fully take the time to check the cars. I always pick the same manufacturer colors though; this time, it must have just slipped past when I changed it to white.

Using the showroom is no excuse to showcase "better" visual fidelity. Out on the racetrack and during gameplay is where it matters most, and forza fails at that. In order for Forza to get GT7's quality, you'd have to open up your own 3rd party app to post process and clean up the photo. GT7 is the real deal.

I remember in GT5, Polyohony managed to make the premium cars so good it was almost impossible to distinguish still images from real life images. In GT7 they managed to make you question reality in motion. The GT series has stepped up so much over the years and with each installment. Forza stepped up a lot too, and it was a very innovative series. But then it just stopped. It's like they just stopped caring or something. I wish someone had a video about what the fuck happened.

I run the PS5 and GT7 with my PC setup, 4k 32" monitor and Fanatec CSW 2.5 wheel with V3 pedals and Fanatec shifter and really appreciate the details it has compared to most other titles. It's a bit like the higher end details in various flight sim aircraft, if only we had proper options for the cockpit view for monitors with height adjustment and FOV as some of the camera placements make no sense.

Amazing setup, mate! Some great runs to be had. I couldn't agree with you more, especially when Driveclub was doing it in 2014. It's not like GT has details to hide. I mean, we can adjust a little bit, but I would love more freedom, especially in VR. Although I have a small workaround to get seated in the right place for VR.

Forza fell off, basically ever since horizon the games have been passable at best.
I care way more about sounds, content, and driving feel than visuals so I won't ever bother getting a ps5 just to play GT7, but it is hands down the best looking racing game right now. AC1 is where I'm going to be spending all of my time unless ac2 actually turns out well.

You said “plasticky.” This is the description I was looking for when I finally made the switch to Forza from GT back when FM4 came out.
Why did I make the switch? PS3 got YLOD and I had FM3 experience - Forza allowed a bit more freedom and expression in car mods and paint. Loved it ever since BUT that “plasticky” look always stuck in comparison to GT.

As someone who works in 3D art and material creation with an emphasis on photorealism and has never played either of these titles, I agree with the sentiment. This is mainly because it seems that the Forza textures create a lesser sense of visual variance, which can even be seen in some of the asphalt textures. However, it comes off like the Forze devs forgot that cars often are typically very glossy and metallic objects when creating the textures. It also feels like there's a lesser emphasis on micro details and imperfections, which I think contributes to that overall artificial look to things in Forza with less aggressive use of normal maps. However, I have to wonder if this was a development-related thing with having to also optimize for the Series S console in mind.

  • @jastudio000
    @jastudio000 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Well in Gran turismo 7 the cars are much much better, acording to details. Maybe the sounds on race time sound kinda way to long, from the distanse between car and road. I don't know why they did this, at least i realise the car sounds are much better on first person camera! But yeah i agree with what you said.

GT7 is Miles ahead, BUT, just to be fair, there's some old models from GT5 and 6 from the PS3 era, with minor upgrades such as wheels and material shaders. I still have a PS3 and I mande my own comparison with the switching of HDMI ports, they are a perfect match. But even those old models look good, on par with other current games on the market, including Forza 8.

If i'm not mistaken, Polyphony re-models the cars for each game (Or just for the new generation) while T10 and PGG just recycle old models from previous games. No doubt this Civic model is from FM7, May 2018 to be precise. A lot of models in Forza games are from the 360-era games, a few even go as far back as the first game.

I think it’s hilarious how some people can defend Forza. I’ve played most of the Forza games and I thought FM4 was cool, and hey the Horizon games are great. But the graphics SUCK in comparison to GT. The light source is sitting in front of the headlight too, you should definitely check that out too. I’m 99% sure it’s that way in this "built from the ground up" game too. GT is a polished game. Always had the best car models and lighting. And now it even has better sounds than Forza, no more vacuum cleaners.
(I’d still like to try this new Forza game but I’m not sold on the idea yet)

The video comparison is fine with commentary, but what will really stick the point is showing pictures or video of the actual car. The part when you said the headlights were pretty good in Forza would have been inaccurate if you had a picture of the real thing.

I'll be honest, I've been playing Forza since the first edition, and I've always been a fan of the Forza Motorsport franchise.
However, I've always been fair to the aspects that made me prefer Forza over Gran Turismo.
I remember that Forza 4 was a leap in technology for introducing, perhaps for the first time in a game, photorealistic scenarios.
And it just opened my mind, I remember seeing such small details in car interiors that I couldn't believe it was being played on an XBOX 360.
Gran Tursimo has always been a game that I admired, but the physics of the cars and how the game's entire mechanics worked didn't satisfy me.
But being realistic, I can say without a doubt that the new Gran Tursimo stands out far above the new Forza Motorsport.
Some aspects that I take to support my opinion are the graphics, details, sounds, interface and immersion in terms of virtual reality.
Currently for myself being a Forza player for over 18 years, Gran Tursimo is my Racing Game of choice currently.
