That is a fire engine NOT a fire truck. There is difference between the two......

As a qualified heavy duty tow truck operator and monday morning quarterback i was a little surprised they were lifting the rear of the engine without a spreader bar😮
Stopped to cover a big water main break one time working for the newspaper. Was a good ways back, pulled in next to a deputy. We walked over to the leak, and could see it was huge. And it was apparently originating from up where our cars were. We looked up that way and could literally see the utility poles next to our cars leaning and swaying as the water washed around them, and these were big poles with lots of cables. We chanced it, and moved. One of them fell a few minutes later. Turns out it was a 24 inch main connecting two water towers, and it flowed until one tank went dry. The road was closed for four days to rebuild the hole.
It’s a crying shame these utilities and streets are in such poor condition for the amount of taxes and water rates these people pay. Politicians at their best.
I was thinking the same think, I was thinking like o yeah you can drive out of that......also me it’s a freaking sink hole 🕳 it can sink making it bigger at any moment
If it's not one thing, it's something else. It never fails. Murphy needs to leave all of them alone for a while. Excellent filming in everything you do! Kudos to you. :-)
@xheralt have to disagree with you. It’s hooked in between the rear tires. So the line is pressing on the body very hard . A spreader bar above the engine on the rear would have prevented and body damage. The front was actually hooked on the front so nothing there. But the rear needs a large spreader bar .
@xheralt nonsense, democrats have set the budget for California for 40 +years, starting the first time moonbeam was governor, now throw in the out of control crime and drugs. This is their fault and the morons who voted them in.
Got to be the absolute slowest they can to make that overtime! And no spreader bar over the rear of the truck bed- lousy safety procedure! Your tax dollar's at work here folks!
@@fire48pw Brent either you are blind or just plain ignorant, there is no bar over the rear of the truck to prevent the cables from pinching into the box! Nowhere in this video is one visible! Stay out of other's conversations!
Stick to firefighting and let the professional wrecker operators do the vehicle recovery's !! I don't care if they went to a Rotator school or not, hands on experience is the best training anyone can get and these firefighters don't get enough hands on experience! Wasting tax payers money on Rotators!
That's the same as saying a soldier in the army shouldn't be a helicopter mechanic, they should stick to shooting guns and fighting wars. What most people don't understand is that these Heavy Rescue operators are not staffed by civilians, they are sworn firefighters that aren't just trained to operate rotator trucks, they also specialize in rescue operations such as shoring, removing extricated people, and building collapse. And on top of that they can actively engage in firefighting operations. Plus they are on a 24 hour shift schedule that can respond with lights and sirens to any area in the city. And as far as hands on experience, have you been trained in any USAR operations? These guys are literally responding to every trapped persons call that occurs in the city unless canceled by the initial assignment. I understand that these rigs are expensive and that their existence costs the taxpayers a lot of money but these guys aren't just rotator truck drivers, they have to be a jack of all trades. The truth is private contractors cost taxpayers a lot of money as well and aren't able to respond quick enough and can't do the other functions that the HR operator's are trained to do, and I doubt that anyone saved by this rig would complain that it takes to much money out of their taxes. Everybody complains, until they need it.
@@JohnDoe-vy1ys Seconded. I'll also add that these heavy rescues go to all major traffic collisions as well, so the heavy rescue guys get plenty of hands-on time and experience doing this. As john pointed out, these rigs are also used in a variety of other tech rescue situations as well. Its by and away cheaper to buy the rotator and staff it with TRT guys then it would be to pay a private contractor every time they needed one.
Saves them money the tax payers pay the bill they dont tow there own firetrucks they have outside vendors do it guess who pays that bill you guessed it tax payers I've towed alot of LA Fire trucks
Those heavy rescue wreckers are amazing resources - both City and County can do a lot with them, and help out smaller FDs like Monterey Park.
I am glad the LAFD got the fire truck out of sink hole.

XD That Engine Company will NEVER live that one down.
Excellent catch. I really enjoyed this rare video of two rarely seen pieces of apparatus. Thank you. Nice video quality.
I love fire trucks...and still marvel at them as an adult ...so glad no one was hurt. Would hate to imagine if they.were rushing to a scene ..... .🙏🏾
I got a little confused when I saw FDNY ...
Excellent Heavy Rescue assist 👏🙌👍💪
Another good lesson here. When driving in the area of a major water leak, DO NOT drive thru it. You have no idea what is under the water.

Nah, I think Jamie's crew wears more PPE than the fire guys had on...

Lots of Good quality Ice Cream is going to be bought in Monterey Park this week!! 😄😄
It's crazy how much the fire trucks flexing and folding. Pay attention to the cab when it gets hoisted off the ground
Thankfully the sink hole didn't swallow the truck .

Battle of the Heavy Rescues!!!
How big was the broken water pipe??
wow that big hole, I'm glad no SMALL CAR GO DOWN THERE.
I think the driver Owes a carton (slab) of beer to the boss for getting the fire engine stuck
L.A. CO F.D. HEAVY RESUE 103 & L.A. FD HEAVY RESCUE 3👍👍
Your telling me that 600hp Detroit diesel and 15 strong fighters couldn't get that thing unstuck?
Damn guess firefighters need heroes to.
somebody owes some one some ice cream and pies.
Awesome! Both counties responding to yet another county. Mutual Aid at it's best. Good as new.
They forgot the saying, "2 in the pink, 1 in the stink". Not the whole truck in the hole at once. Sheeesh.
Ahhhhh America’s great infrastructure
Great job by LAFD and LOS Angles COUNTRY FIRE DEPT To help out Monterey park fire dept to all three dept,s always work safe
Things that don't happen everyday
It looks like that part of the street was recently dug up
Sucks, but I mean its better the truck getting slight chassis damage than a person falling in and getting seriously hurt
0:32 why does the engine say FDNY?
It's a tribute to FDNY for 9/11
@@scottwilliams6874 Oh
Lol. Gotta say they made sure to charge the city. Didn’t need 2 trucks.

"In memor of our fallen brothers" is above it. So it's a 911 tribute. Lot's of departments do this- Most of ours have a 343 sticker on them someplace
