world 9 was intentionally made to reference the glitch levels of smb 1, that’s why it’s all weird. This isn’t a geniune challenge, it’s a fun little world thrown in
Fun fact: another big reason as to why Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels wasn’t released overseas for a while was because of how similar it was to the original. By the time of the game’s release, SMB1 had just rescued the video game market from the Video Game Crash of 1983, and a big reason said crash happened in the first place was because of how similar games at the time felt to each other, and TLL was also guilty of that, since anyone who’s played it could probably agree it felt like a level-pack sequel to SMB1. Out of fear western audiences would turn away from the game for both this and its difficulty, SMB2/SMBUSA was released to the west in its stead two years after SMB:tLL’s release. Additional fun fact: the SMB2 sprites for Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Toad were all made after the SMB3 ones were made.
I like 3-2 bc it's flat layout is entirely set up to allow you to chain shell combos for 1-ups (following a kicked koopa shell as it kills multiple enemies, racking up points until a 1-up.) Also Infinite 1-up trick.
Imo it's fun enough as long as you don't have a fire flower. If you do, it's a cakewalk and ends up being pretty boring. If you don't, it's fun to precisely jump between each enemy since there's so many.
I wonder, would you ever rank the levels in Super Mario Land and Super Mario Land 2: Six Gold Coins? How about each level in the Yoshi series (Island, Story, Topsy-Turvy, Island DS, New Island, Woolly World, and Crafted World)? What about the 3D Mario games? Again, it’s mostly just a question/suggestion, because these videos are really fun to watch!
Well, at this point I pretty much have to go through all the remaining Mario games. Not sure when those will be but they're certainly going to be covered at some point. The Yoshi series is much more of a 'maybe', my experience with those titles is lesser....by a large margin
My sister's list would be a lot like yours. Not mine though. I like all the levels people hates. Water levels, Cheep Cheep Bridge levels, awkward moving levels... that's my jam. My sister used to hand the controller to me on those levels, so maybe that's why.
@@amber_okaythenthen yeah it’s definitely the throwable blocks. They’re white in the NES version and you can’t forget that All-Stars keeps all the mistranslations of the NES intact. I mean we still have “Clawglip” and the Ostro/Birdo mixup in the SMB2 ending in All-Stars…
If you ever do a sequel to this you should do one based on the handheld mario saga, both super Mario land games, super Mario advanced 3 & 4’s new levels & mario vs donkey kong on gba.

Do this with the classic sonic games next. This is a good video and shows the importance of good level design and things added even early on that don’t seem like a big deal. The same reason why I just can’t get into Mario wonder that much there’s not much new other than abilities and powerups. The level design is good for less than half the game and it feels like a new super mario bros with a new look and *rebranding*
truthfully i just see them as separate from the early console Mario games, partially because i never got to play them when i was younger, but maybe someday..

If Super Mario World was released today there would almost certainly be Special World levels called "skibidi", "rizz" and "canny"
Bro if it did I would off myself😭
Bro I spent like 3 hours trying to beat sigma from mario

These long ranking videos for super mario are some of my favorites from you I can't wait to get to this one :)

Oh, and also New Super Luigi U, can’t forget that one.
@@amber_okaythen Ah, gotcha.
turned this on thinking i'd watch for a few minutes and finish it later & ended up watching all the way through~ fantastic video, Amber!!!!
So much nostalgia with these games 😭💖 they really were so good!
Also, love the "Browser" in the back 🤣
So retro!!
1:38:50 Always good to hear a reference to that “Not Roy's Castle” song
Enjoyed your video . The algorithm is odd. It seems it took a while to show me your content.

Stockholm Syndrome
58:40 Pretty sure she’s referring to the block in world 1 that lets you find the first warp whistle
I have seen that brought up, but it doesn't account for the white block 'enabling us to defeat enemies'

Oh, boy! She’ll be covering levels with flying fish this time. As their biggest fan, I cannot wait to see what she thinks of those levels! 😊
I wonder if you're going all out talking about each 3D mario, Mario RPG stars, paper mario Chapter, M&L Areas, MARIO IS MISISNG FLOORS?!??
lol not me going to rewatch your new super mario bros video and finding out you posted a new one like an hour ago!!
Boss bass is new to me, I always called it big bertha

I agree with world 7 in SMB3 being in the top tier.
59:41 Those are Sledge Bros, not Sumo Bros. Sledge Bros throw sledgehammers meanwhile Sumo Bros create electricity when they stomp.
Your voice kinda reminds me of Mr Boss from Smiling Friends. Great interesting video btw!

I hate when people reference the SNES versions of the Original super Mario games... Those are reskins.. 🤦🏻
