What role the USA play in the Russo-Ukraine War? The US is fully responsible for it 100%. Without the instigations to Ukraine to provoke Russia, there would be no war. And every war that the USA has been involved in since WW2, is instigated and stated by the USA.

American atrocities in Iraq & Afghanistan were absolute crimes covered up by an out-of-control drone strike force. They’ve never been held accountable. Just bc US is guilty of war crimes, we should go ahead & let Putin have his turn?
To be fair, drones were new to the strategies and Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, etc, we're basically testing ground. It's gotten better since then. By "better", I, of course, mean that we only kill the wrong people and innocent kids once a month or so, not every day.
@@vallee7966 It’s not the same because the U.S. has occupied countries because of oil and because of world domination, and Russia is just defending itself on its borders so that the flames of Russophobia don’t spill over to Moscow. The U.S. benefited greatly from its bloodthirsty wars, unlike the Russians had to accept impoverishment to protect themselves from the U.S. regime. If the rules were the same in the world, the Russians would not have to defend themselves because the United States would be sanctioned, Ukraine would be condemned for killing more than 10,000 Russian minority civilians in Ukraine for eight years, and then the Russians would not have to defend themselves because of rules for all the same.
It was also extremely reckless to normalize, arm and train Neo Nazis, to send them to quell riots among Russian speaking people. You might have well sent in a kkk militia to disperse the BLM protests. Then denying the accusations of heinous acts, and defending the nazis, and professing their innocence for 8 long years was incredibly dumb.

Gotta love how the Senate always approve MORE money than is being asked for when it comes to military spending, as if they had a commission relative to the sales volume.
Sounds like they can make money personally lets see who will be buying more stock. What does the us has to gain from giving out more and more for war? If you ask for help at home they claim its a government handout you should pull yourself up by your boot straps. They helped cause this mess then what you to pay for it.
The corruption scam of "privatization" is how they EMBEZZLE government money, and our war companies have been privatized since WW2. So that is why both criminal gangs lie us into wars and vote for insane amounts of war money. They all know that federal money is NOT "our taxes", it can be issued IN ANY AMOUNT for anything that is physically possible! They hide this from us as much as possible, and have built a global corruption network, taking over countries for decades (not always via war or obvious coup, as when the US took over the UK, Australia, Canada and NZ in the 70s). They privatize all govt services and systems of any country they take over as fast as they can; then the corrupt can bill the government (overbill) massively to provide massive exec salaries and insanely high profits. Wall Street firms invest, knowing that profits are guaranteed via government money. So lying us into wars allows embezzling, any military action allows it (US military is currently in over 20 African countries as the socioapths attempt to take over that continent), and then if they DO take over another country, they privatize everything and EMBEZZLE from that government massively as well. The greedy sociopaths hijacked the US government quite thoroughly by the 70s, and so we have seen many things privatized - prisons, much of Medicare and the Post Office, detention centers, healthcare (yes, Obamacare and those health insurance companies), and they are trying to privatize public education. They rarely use the real term, "privatization", because they know there is public backlash against it, so with schools they call it "school choice" and "charter schools". Also they say things like "private" prisons, "for profit" healthcare, anything to cloak the truth.
Approving that type of amount of money to foreign government such as Ukraine whilst we in the US are suffering from paying our basic bills in this time of COVID-19 is a reckless hypocrisy. This is very sad.
Yes, elections are coming everywhere.. Take these issues straight in the poll booths. U S citizens couldn't get a bailout this fast with our own tax dollars. What about U S oil reserve into our market so gas prices won't be high.. Your right reckless hypocrisy!!
Very intelligent point and I hope the American will stand up and rise against the government for supporting the Ukraine war rather then promoting peace ✌
I am an American combat Veteran, (Phu Bai, South Vietnam-1968). There is a very logical reason for "RUSSIA PHOBIA". Just look at the Russian historical record of brutal aggression and long line of war atrocities. Every single major conflict Russia has been involved in, including Afghanistan, the Russian Military commited the most horendous atrocities seen in modern times. The Russian Air Force dropping small timed and sensitive bombs designed to look like children's toys. One was colored red and shaped like a Fire Engine. This Russians did this knowing that some little Afghan child would pick it up and in the process lose his or hers little arms, or be immediately killed. There are many photos and other evidence pertaining to this gross and disgusting event. These Russian commited Afghanistan atrocities are well documented. During WW2 Russia partnered up with Nazi Germany and invaded Poland. During this time, The Russian Military committed one of the largest Mass Atrocities to ever be perpetrated against innocent Polish civilians. It is known as "The KAYTEN FOREST MASSACRE". The Russian Military murdered 23,000 Polish Civilians and some Polish army officers. The Russians were actually attempting to destroy Poland's intellectual community this leaving Poland without persons with Leadership skills. The Russian Military rounded up academic Professors, Attorneys, Journalists, Authors, Rabbis (The head Rebbe of Krakow was killed in this atrocity), Artists of all varieties, Priests, Ministers, Catholic Head Nuns, Architects, School Principals and Dean's, Medical Doctors, Head Nurses, Mayor's, and other Political leaders, high ranked Polish Army Officers, and on and on. Many of these innocent victims were killed by being run through with a rifle bayonet, or clubbed by rifle butts. The Russians did this in an attempt to save on Ammo. I suggest anyone seeking further info on this insane massacre please just GOOGLE, "KAYTEN FOREST MASSACRE". Again, because of Russia's very long history of the most brutal atrocities there exists a kind of, "RUSSIA PHOBIA", especially in the many smaller Countries that surround Russia. God Bless the good People of Ukraine. SLAVA UKRAINI!
Strange he’s getting his info on the current war by reading media reports. The pentagon says the opposite about Russia’s military campaign thus far. On the pentagon website, they say Russia has clearly done everything in attempt to avoid civilian loss and infrastructure destruction, at huge cost to Russian soldiers. That’s a huge statement, which is completely ignored in our media. Russia could obviously “shock and awe” Ukraine if they chose to do so. It’s also been widely reported that Ukrainian military has been using civilian infrastructure as military bases, making them legitimate military targets. This breaks international war laws such that if they are going to make targets out if those areas, they have a duty to evacuate civilians from the area or otherwuse not use them. I’m not saying Russia is in the right to invade, far from it, but we should be aware of all the facts.
Great point, let me add more, after Russia gave Azov fighters dead line to come out and surrender and you will live, they ignored and stayed, so Russia started bombing Azov factory today, and now video came out from Azov fighters today addressing the world leaders saying we will die in a matter of day if you dont help us, so i got a huuuuuge problem with that video, first, he said there lots of civilians with them under the ground, question ? how in the hell you military personal have lots of civilians with you ?? you r the direct target and you have civilians with you ?? why didt you send out a video saying before you hit the factory please evacuate the civilians and you did not let them go ?? second huuuuge problem with this video, that Pussy did not say please take the civilians, instead that pussy said please evacuate us to the 3rd safe country and he said nothing about a civilians, with that said, im starting to believe that Russians r telling the truth when they talking about Azov using the civilians as a shield and i strongly believe that Russians taking easy on this war because of this civilian shields. What a PUSSY'S .
Aww, that's so kind of them! The U.S. and Israel also take great care to avoid civilian casualties but I somehow doubt you'd give them credit for that. Have you considered that they are avoiding heavy civilian casualties so it plays out better on Russian TV? Or, mare realistically, that high civilian casualties would increase the likelihood of direct Western intervention? They really didn't care about civilian casualties in Grozny, did they? Give it time. There have already been more civilian casualties since you posted. As they get more frustrated things will get uglier.

@Shang Yang Interesting twist. SDS were not US forces, and taking Raqqa from ISIS was costly. A tragedy. Perhaps it would have been mitigated if ISIS had allowed a timely evacuation. Your numbers are a little off, by the way. 51,000 named individuals have been killed in Aleppo over the course of the war. Should the US have not intervened at all in the Syrian Civil war? I can't say. There are never any good outcomes to a civil war but ISIS made no secret whatsoever about their war crimes and atrocities. It almost brags about them. The Assad regime, like the Assad Sr regime has no problem using force to maintain power Syria is Russia's long time client state and has always backed the Assads. But fine, if you want to equivocate the Syrian Civil War with the Russian invasion of Ukraine, go for it.

@@Swankins Whether a state is governed by "terrorists" or not is just a matter of perspective. To the British, George Washington was a terrorist. The point isn't what label is used, the point is human suffering: do we produce it or not. In the case of Afghanistan, we made them completely dependent on us and the suddenly took away everything. That's pure cruelty. The Taliban won. But they were always going to. If we weren't cruel, there's a lot better ways to transition that don't involve mass starvation.
@@FourtyParsecs The US has TRIED to make them independent as with many other countries it has temporarily taken over. We have built up their infrastructure, army, and provided for them for over a decade. Look at Germany, Japan, the Philippines, and Korea. They all became successful countries after the US left. It is not about perspective because the whole world knows how cruel the Taliban can be if not checked. The US prefers a stable Afghanistan, but the people of Afghanistan are so divided that it is almost impossible to unify the country for the common good of the nation. 12:30 Amy you did a good job of pulling in Zelinsky‘s views were completely compatible with a reasonable settlement on all issues. He recognized the concerns: he recognized the NATO issue, he recognized the recognition of the two republics issue, and he said he was ready to talk about them. The Russians were very positive after that discussion. That’s when they said they were withdrawing from Kiev in good faith move. But That is when they pulled out and then three days later Boucha happened, and it was blamed on Russia. Zelensky then said that he did not wanna have any peace talks anymore - they would only go for a complete victory, more or less. As I recollect, he specifically said that they wanted a cease-fire and they wouldn’t go settle until all Russian troops are outside of the country. That was a preposterous proposal and would kill any deal on the Russian side. This is why we are now in this position where it looks like there will be an endless stalemate and this war will go on for years and the Ukrainians will keep dying and the Russians will keep building more hyper sonic cruise missiles and keep firing them with even more and more precision every day. And they’ll try to stop all shipments in of arms from nato and this could easily lead to World War III. But I think “democracy now” could really be helpful if it did a thorough review of the Bucha killings. If Ukraine would be pressured to realize that it was their fault -specifically apparently of the azov batallion when it went in to clean out saboteurs - they posted this mission on their national guard page where azov claimed that the Russian troops were dressing as civilians, but they had to clean them out. That took three days for them to do. At the end of that three days we see the bodies in the street where several had white armbands, and a couple others had white armbands tying your hands behind their backs and they were shot in the head. We now know that within Ukraine, a white armband was to signify to Russian occupying forces that you were not an adversary. So it appears Ukrainian forces - apparently azov - killed these people as presumed saboteurs and collaborators. Maybe they were, and maybe this is just. But instead of justifying the killings by themselves, it ended up that Russia was blamed for all of this in the West, no one knows how that started. But it was a convenient way to dive bomb the settlement talks
I cannot agree with you more. Another mistake that the EU made which raises serious questions is banning of Russian media corporations. Some of us have been watching RT for years simply because it is impartial on its reporting.
yes but thats what the west always do. claiming they want peace yet keep sponsoring wars. typical hypocrisy. but western bots still believe them for some reason.
Bacevich made some great points except on his assessment on the Russian's going in "so aggressively " My view is they went in very gently, being accused of meeting stiff resistance. The Russians did not use the "Shock and Awe" in the first few days that Becevich should be very familiar with . If Putin used such methods ,the casualty numbers would be much higher. All his other points I agree with.
I completely agree with you and so does Colonel Douglass McGregor and former Marine and weapons inspector Scott Ritter. Both of them state that the US Military bombs first, then uses artillery to destroy their opponent and then moves in the ground forces with no concern other than a military victory. Russia tried to do as little destruction as possible but the more the Ukrainians fight, the more Russia will destroy Ukraine and the more innocent civilians will suffer. I blame our Neoconservative State Department and the Military Industrial Complex for using Ukraine in a proxy war between the US, NATO and Russia. There is also a Russophobia among the American elites as Bacevich mentioned. It fits perfectly with Orwell's 1984 where an enemy is needed to justify the actions of the government. The propaganda fits perfectly also, the enemy is described as evil subhumans while the host country depicts themselves as pure as the driven snow.
Interesting thay Becevich doesn't discuss 1) the military industry complex or the lucrative goal of creating military markets that underlying factor for NATO expansion ( hand in glove with corruption perhaps ) and 2) Zelensky should have foreseen the disaster he was taking the UKR into after all RUS interests and Putin are know quantities! Sort of dumb policy thinking by the Z-man.
Russians didn’t use shock and awe because they planned a lightening coup and they thought the Ukrainian army would then just fold and the Ukrainians would welcome their ‘liberation’ from the supposedly genocidal nazi regime governing them that turned out to be a democratic government entirely legitimate for all Ukrainians even if Zelensky was down in the polls on Feb 24. Bad planning, incompetent execution and propaganda driven delusion are to blame not humanitarian restraint. All of those plans failed and their military proved to be incapable of switching to different tactics fast . They are now slowly reverting to a lower scale version of the brutal bombardments of Grozny and Aleppo and a slow grinding advance in the face of an very outnumbered but determined armed resistance. The only thing stopping them is a reluctance to destroy a city with deep Russian historical value and the West’s support of the Ukrainian armed forces and national resistance. At this point even most Russia friendly Ukrainians oppose Putin so he has united Ukrainians as never before.
@@markacohen1 That's just assumptions once again, the reality is, nobody knows what the Russians are or were thinking and planning. The MSM has given endless airtime to military experts and high up commanders both retired and serving and they all have their own opinions, and that's all they are, opinions. My personal opinion is the Russian forces north of Kiev that did nothing for 18 days and currently is making small probing missions around the capital, is and always was a smokescreen. Kiev will be the most heavily defended city, Ukraine won't let it fall at any cost, so the threat from the Russian advance over the Belarus border tied up huge Ukrainian forces and equipment so the Russians could concentrate on objectives in the East. It's just another opinion, no less valid than any other but still only a theory. Simple fact is we just don't know unfortunately.
Just in regard to his comments about precision weapons: Few, however, remember that the NATO air campaign over Belgrade was largely a comedy/tragedy of errors. Despite claims of pinpoint accuracy with its laser-guided missiles, NATO bombs hit the Chinese embassy in Belgrade, numerous residential apartment buildings, a TV tower, and a regional passenger train near Grdelica. (Note: Milosevic remained in office after the bombing ended.)
How long ago was that? 1999. Here’s something to consider; that was 23 yrs ago. It’s obvious Russian technology is decades behind. The Chinese have taken note. Something else to consider is the military action was to stop Milosevic’s genocide & atrocities. You know, like Putin is doing now?
Seriously, was insanely belligerent and brutal, particularly with as you noted indiscriminate air-power, a military tactic which hasn't changed much in terms of preference and callous domination toward US "full spectrum dominance" of the earth.
You're not seriously comparing NATO's air campaign against Milosevic in order to stop his genocidal ethnic cleansing campaign against ethnic Albanians to Putin's unprovoked invasion against a peaceful sovereign, democratic Ukraine and the subsequent war crimes now being committed on a daily basis by Russia are you?! Western intelligence now worryingly indicate that mad Vlad may now resort to using chemical weapons as a false flag scenario has already being created by Russia by falsely accusing the US of having chemical weapons activities in Ukraine!

Wow, Congress passed a $1.5 trillion spending bill that includes $13.6 billion for military and economic aid to Ukraine. So why can't we afford health care for all in this country?
Even the Turks who are not as rich as Americans their government can afford to give them free healthcare and free education but American government cannot afford that for its citizens and can still afford billions for wars? Am not American but men Americans it sounds like you guys are screwed
If the Americans know what their administration is doing outside of their country, the people of America will impeach their government. But only 10-20% of US citizens are informed about world matters. This number is above 70% in India, also one of the highest in the world. This makes it easy for the political elite of the US to do whatever they please outside their borders and the citizens won't ask even a single question. American youth needs to start look and read beyond what their government is doing outside their borders. Its not only important for their next gen, but also for the world. American government loves war. The goal of these politicians is to bring tax payer money to corporations where they have high stakes as per an ex US official. The narrative to find a monster in Russia is helpful for this purpose. Why do you think US gives 'lethal help' in Ukraine? Moneyyy... 🤑
This warmonger called the Russian Red Army a minor army because of indiscriminate violence?! I don't recall seeing buildings falling in Kiev as the 'muricans did in Baghdad, Belgrade, Kabul, Panama, Hanoi, etc. And, again, not a single word about ukra-nazis.
900,000 deaths are modest numbers. if you account for the chaos and carnage directly and even indirectly caused by invasions of Afg and Iraq (i.e. formation of Daesh) the numbers would be much, much higher
Indeed we do not like to talk about the atrocities we caused around the world like in Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Lebanon, Vietnam ......and the list goes on. In the face our atricities, the Russians look very good in comparison.
You need to educate yourself on the Chechen war, the invasion of Georgia, the invasion of Crimea in (2014), and what Russia did in Syria. Also what Putin did in Belarus this past fall. They are by NO MEANS innocent and Putin is no benevolent leader. How many political opponents have been poisoned, killed and tortured?
I am not naive nor misinformed. Russia reacts to the threats at its borders but we on the contrary invade countries 10000 miles away for our "security"! We killed and still kill millions of innocent people in the name of our security, freedom, democracy and human rights! Russia can kill a billion people in their security interests but that is expected. Why you ask, simple, because we are taught, day in and day out, that Russia is an autocratic system with no regards to human rights, democracy or freedom. But we are also taught, day in and they out, that we have democracy and we care about human rights and freedom! So, what does it when we decimate countries with millions of civilians killed? The answer is simple, we have no respect for human rights, freedom and democracy. We are bunch of hypocrites as Americans. I ask those who criticize Russian invasion vehemently to ask yourself what did you do everytime we invaded countries or support atrocities by our allies like Israel. Unlike Russians, we claim we have democracy and we can protest our government policies unlike Russians, Chinese or many other countries that we take as our enemies.
Yep, we Americans really know how to bullshit ourselves, damn are we arrogant. My Mother always told me, "How come you can see the spec in your neighbors eye but can't see the log in your own". That was really good advice, my fellow Americans don't seem to have a clue about the concept.
I appreciate this man's objectivism n talking about how an American hyper-aggressive foreign policy in Eastern Europe helped to bring about this crisis. Nobody in the MSM is even talking about this. But what a joke when he ridiculed Russia's "crude" military operations, implying that the US is so masterful at carrying out precision attacks that don't endanger and kill innocent civilians. Pardon me while I pick myself up off the floor where I've been rolling around laughing. MILLIONS of dead in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Somalia, Yemen, and all throughout the Middle East, thanks to 20 years of American "advanced" and "precision" warfare.
You nailed it. I guess he doesn't include America backing Israelis on Palestinians, or Yemen,, sanctions on countries that won't bow to the USA . Vietnam, Cambodia, napalm bombs, cluster bombed children, women, farmers in Grass shacks. And he has his son killing as well. This is so American the hypocrisy to try and make twisted logic sound normal.
This guy is typical of a sypchotic spychopath. This is how a spychopath articulates his genius in killing and how he convinces the listener to believe he is a normal rational person. This kind of interview is what makes him convince himself he is making logical sense As the ironies are beyond normal mind set. His pattern in killing also extends to his children. Just a life long love for killing, and power over the weak. If he had to go through life with out a weapon by his side, or a backing of brothers in arms he would either implode realizing his own weakness. Or be a cop killing unarmed bad people who smoke marijuana.
At first, I thought Bacevich was spot on with regards to the real US-Russia-Ukraine relationship. But when he mentioned the way Russia conducted the "invasion" as "crude" as far as modern warfare is concerned, that was uncalled for. He made it appear that the Russian forces were to blame for the many indiscriminate and senseless killings of civilians when in fact it was the Neo-Nazi forces of the Ukrainian military that did it, using civilians as human shields through the use of residential buildings as ammunition depot or dump for instance, setting up snipers and having military vehicles park there. That alone is in violation of international law and military doctrine, and would be legitimate targets for the Russians.
Theres a problem with that appraisal of the situation, and that is that Russia clearly uses weapons in a fashion that makes it impossible to even tell which building they are going to hit. Most of the shelling is done from at least a dozen kilometres away.Russia simply aims to reduce the entire city to rubble, then move in after there is minimal structures left for anybody to hide in/behind.
RECORDED Raped women and children. SPECIAL MILITARY OPERATION, Welcome with flowers. Treating own soldiers as cannon fodder. Looks like someone is making stuff up
Agree, but not only that, just take a look at how US military act, shock and awe, bombing to dust cities, does not look at all surgical, as US commentators come up with. I cannot imagine any modern war as being anything else than crude and brutal.
My salute to Colonel Bacevich for his courageous and accurate analysis of this current Ukraine-Russia conflict. There are two points which I want to point out though: 1. Putin and the Kremlin must have figure out their contingency plans of how to sustain in case the war is prolong. We must remember that EU countries' economy may not recover and in fact will face serious repercussions. 2. Colonel had missed out the figure for those deaths in the US war on Vietnam and the generations that suffered from births defects because of US used of Orange Agent on the Vietnamese. Notwithstanding the millions of land mines laid in Laos.
This is the first time I think I've ever seen this program actually have a balanced coverage with dissident views. I'm actually shocked at all the sense I heard in this video. Re: @9:00 this is a classic example of Americans being confused that other countries don't do war like them. Unlike the US, Russia is happy to take casualties if it means retaining the infrastructure and minimizing civilian casualties. Don't forget that the US killed hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians in Iraq to minimize their own casualties. the US frequently uses a scorched earth plan. - Very different than the Russian way.
According to the military guys I know, we bomb first, blast 'em with artillery and then send the ground troops with no concern for the people we are invading. My country is so arrogant we dehumanize the people we blow up and have no concern for them.

I don't think US gets to lecture the world on how to conduct "humanitarian" style war, we've all seen how they start n end.
War is wrong period. But the ideology of both countries is quite different. The wall in Berlin Germany was obvious for all to witness. Free will should account for something. Oppression is also something we take for granted. Its easy to pick apart any war as being justified. The ultimate truth is still the words , Treat one another as you would want to be treated. one can only imagine how that looks if everyone honored those words and humbled themselves by submitting to the will of others based on compassion. Mankind has never figured it out. Separation from this Truth is when we miss the target or goal by a mile. Its called sin.
@TrueFact No they went to Iraq for oil and Afghanistan for minerals and opium.Furthermore most of the 9-11 planners were Saudi nationals yet today the US is willing to ignore Saudi Arabia humanitarian rights for the sake of business. "Former UN Inspector Scott Ritter on What The Hell Is Happening" at "Moment of Clarity with Lee Camp" is instructive on Russian strategy, tactics, and progress.
My grandfather is Ukrainian from Kyiv, so I don’t say this lightly. It appears that the civilian deaths are mostly caused by the Ukrainian forces embedding themselves in civilian buildings, acting As snipers, or sending Malakoff cocktails out windows. etc. So when you investigate we need to find out if there’s an alternative narrative that needs to be considered as a reasonable basis to pause our judgments. Ukraine in truth has an immature army with poor training, and not recognize that they must not unnecessarily endanger civilians by locating themselves in civilian areas.. A perfect example of the western media not knowing what they were looking at were the pictures of people laying dead on the street in Bucha. At that time, no one realized that the white arm bands on these peoples arms indicated that they were killed by Ukrainians. The white band meant these people were letting Russian troops know that they were not adversaries, but sided with them. Two of the bodies had the white arm band taken off and wrapped around their hands behind their back and they were shot in the head. And now we see in other parts of Ukraine that when the Russians come in people put on white armbands to let them know that they are not an adversary. But now the bucha killings are supposedly a closed book. Civilian casualties are an unfortunate but unavoidable consequence of modern war. I don’t think a modern army is immune from the problem. When we bombed Serbia in an actually offensive war - we were not invited in Serbia - we killed at least 500 civilians and probably more like 2000, including the Chinese Embassy many Chinese officers and employees were killed. we were using bombs from the air exclusively. So being a modern army didn’t prevent us from killing civilians. And apparently we did even worse in Iraq. So I really think we have to assume the jury has to be out on these civilian deaths and who has responsibility of a reckless or untrained or unprofessional army or maliciousness or cruelty. I think it ws the untrained Ukrainians who used people as human shields that used an illegal tactic. We are in the fog of war at this time on that issue.
Spot on. The incorporation of the purely Nazi, US trained and armed Azov Battalion into (weak, as you rightly mention) Ukrainian Armed Forces was a tragedy and a ticking bomb.
Pleased to note that someone is coming out with a more balanced view different from the narratives of the the main stream media. Has anyone bothered to ask what had been happening in Eastern Ukraine since 2014 and how many civilians lost their lives?
Iraq Invasion. During the first ten days more than 6,000 bombs, almost 700 Cruise Missiles and tens of thousands of Heavy Artillery were dropped on innocent, unarmed Iraqi people. They called it "Shack and Awe." did not see too many tears being shed for those poor people?
Professor John Mearsheimer warned US multiple times about this scenario we now see for years, he said Ukraine would be crushed if US NATO use Ukraine as a battleground for their proxy wår against Russia. Professor John Mearsheimer was right about everything he predicted for years, he knew what US planned. People should see some videos from Professor John Mearsheimer, he knew what he was talking about..
Every war is bruttal but when comparing brutality in wars at least from 2000s, no country can beat the US and NATO. The Russian could have used shock and awe and bomed cities like the US did in Iraq on the first day but they did not because when you objectively and not emotionally look at the way they went in, you'd realize that they went to all length to avoid civilian casualties. Compared to US shock and awe in Iraq, close to 15,000 people were killed on the first day only. But the western media wanted you to believe that this war is the bloodiest ever.
You can hate Putin and there are millions of reasons to do so, but we are also responsible for the disaster in Ukraine. We have humiliated and taken advantage of Russia for several decades and ignoring the advice of very knowledgeable and intelligent people who warned about the consequences of our behavior. but in our infinite arrogance we do not listen to those who know on the contrary, we gave Ukraine false hope and President Zelensky misinterpreted it as complete unconditional support. It's time to come to our senses and solve this mess and prevent stupid and unnecessary bloodshed.
Putin is a KGB thug, and a war-crimes criminal, since Chechnya, Georgia, and Syria....only a Putin apologist would believe the nonsense that the self-protection afforded to people with democratic values by the NATO alliance is to blame in Ukraine.
I am also a lithuanian and i remember well that we got into NATO during the time of the illegal USA invasion of Iraq and many western n countries, for example France did not support it. As a trade off for the support of the invasion, USA accepted multiple eastern european countries into NATO, Lithuania included. I remember g w bush even doing a tour there. We also had to send some of our soldiers to Iraq and Afghanistan after that. Yet the baltic countries are small and less significant to russia, they would not let it slide with Ukraine
@Paula Zemeckis Enlighten us, what is the population now of Lithuania and median age. I'll answer, it's 45 vs 30 in 1990. From 1990 you guys lost 30% of ur young population. That's because EU devastated ur economic sector and everybody fled. In another 15 years there will be no one by retirees. But of course ur happy, you fled too.
Dilyana Gaytandzhieva, a Bulgarian journalist, told us that the Bulgarian people are not happy about being part of NATO, a decision apparently made by government elites. ... By the way, she reported on the US biolabs in countries surrounding Russia. She gave a video interview on the subject at Mint Press, March 10th: "US Admits to Funding Biological Lab in Ukraine with Dilyana Gaytandzhieva" by Dan Cohen
You accepted to eat human waste for breakfast and supper from America. Europeans never learnt a lesson from WW1 and WW2 all started in Europe and it looks like WW3 could start in Europe. You people will incinerate each other out of existence with your own weapons . Nuclear war is coming and the centre of destruction will be Europe. WW1 and WW2 were picnics and WW3 will be a disaster for humanity and especially nuclear powers where a large part of humanity will be decimated.
An apologist for Putin! Nations formerly conquered and occupied by the Soviet Union after WW2 broke free after 1991, declared their independence, and requested and received NATO membership. Ukraine also declared itself a sovereign nation and applied for NATO membership. Unfortunately, some European NATO members did not want to upset Putin and preferred appeasement. Therefore, NATO membership was denied to Ukraine. The result was the Russian annexation of the Crimean peninsula, takeover of the Donbas administration by Russian "separatists," and the Russian missile destruction of a Malaysian passenger jet from Amsterdam, fired by Russians who then prohibited anyone from removing bodies on the ground for days. Ukraine should have been allowed to join NATO when other Eastern European nations were allowed to join. The war in Ukraine now is a continuation of smaller Russian incursions, takeovers and annexations of parts of Ukraine that have taken place since NATO denied Ukraine's application to join NATO. Anyone who blames NATO or the US for Russia's invasion in February 2022 is merely repeating Putin's lies. Once again, history has shown that appeasement of brutal tyrants only leads to more brutal tyranny.
This guy needs to see Iraq and see our civilized war machine. What was that saying? Shock and Awe. That must of been precision. War is horrible no matter who wages it. Peace for Ukraine.
He knows. I think he's referring to doctrine. Zelensky has forbidden all males 18-60 from leaving the country. I saw an Azov block a woman holding a baby from escaping to a Russian area. She was crying and as she started back he yelled, "Thank me for not shooting you!" At best it's going to be bad.
I was thinking the same thing while listening to him say Russia is uncivilized waging war... on top of the simple inbred tribal bias that makes most people think that their tribe (in this case the US) is civilized and everybody outside is barbaric, you have to add the incredible white washing of war that you get in the US. You never heard on main stream media all the times US drone strikes killed inocent people, including women and children, the time they slaughtered two families going to a wedding, the images of that apache chopper firing at inocent civilians, the US soldiers that sexually humiliated detained people in Irak, the legalization of torture in guantanamo and other torture facilities around the world, shock and awe bombings, and on and on and on and on... they always try to make you think american interventions are surgical and clean, but it´s just hollywood fiction.
When the western countries( USA and European countries) have decided not to buy oil from Russia,Russia has offered oil to India at bottom prices.Since India is with Russia in this war,Russia has offered India even oil for free. India is getting plenty of oil from Russia at cheap rates. Indians are intelligent enough to make use of this situation.
All this discussions and interviews for the last month yet people are dying, being displaced, and their country is becoming a rubble. Throw in Yemen, Afghanistan. Iraq and other countries into that mix. Talk is cheap while humanity suffers
In IRAQ, depleted uranium shells were used in war, and have caused both Iraqis and Americans to have health problems. “While the United States is gradually phasing out the usage of depleted uranium weapons and armor in favor of newer technologies, the ramifications of their usage remain. [2] At least 300 sites in Iraq are contaminated by depleted uranium, and their cleanup cost has been estimated at around $30 million. [5] While the verdict is still out on whether or not depleted uranium is the cause of significant health problems in those who are exposed to it, the full effects of their usage may not manifest themselves for many years.” Stanford University. 2018
You do realize that depleted uranium is barely radioactive right? (as in not enough to harm someone, UV rays even emit radiation) Hence the "depleted" aspect to them, they are an incredibly durable metal which is why they are used in tank armor and AP shells. What do you think would happen if the US was storing radioactive ammo in a tank? Thousands of tank crewmen would have horrible radiation sickness, considering they've been using them for over 40 years.
@@crusadinghours3505 US department of Veterans Affairs First deployed on a large scale during the Gulf War, the U.S. military uses depleted uranium (DU) for tank armor and some bullets due to its high density, helping it to penetrate enemy armored vehicles. When a projectile made with DU penetrates a vehicle, small particles of DU can be formed and breathed in or swallowed by service members in the struck vehicle. Small DU fragments can also scatter and become embedded in muscle and soft tissue. Soldiers would be exposed to DU when they were on, in, or near vehicles hit with friendly fire; entering or near burning vehicles or near fires involving DU munitions;
@@teflerchina.2987 Keep in mind this is a very extreme scenario, and I'd be more worried about the getting shot part/physical wounds or HE ammo cooking off instead of DU which may give you cancer in 20 years. I'm talking about general exposure, sitting next to some rounds ect. A dozen rounds of DU ammo half buried in the sand 20 meters from an Iraqi village isn't going to kill anyone. Very different from getting pieces of it imbedded into your body, or ingestion. (Keep in mind I am in favor of DU getting phased out, I don't think its necessary in the face of modern munitions, and the negatives of the aforementioned extreme exposure.)
Amy, let's start with the Russian ethnic cleansing since 2014 by Ukraine, then let's talk about neo nazi troops being trained in Ukraine, and there acts of violence against Russian citizens in Ukraine.
Did Zelenski care about his people? I don’t think so. He throws his people into the fire. All he had to do is let Ukraine remain neutral. Zelenski, it's not a hero, not a victim.
He is the spokesman for US government. On one hand asking to meet Putin for a ceasefire and peace negotiation, on the other hand begging for more weapons from US and her allies. Yet he is hailed as a war hero by the Western Media. Those innocent Ukrainians who voted for him must be cursing for the catastrophes he had brought them in.
Bullies are to be punished. It is Ukraine that decides to defend to the last man that is their right as human beings. Why is putin not to blame? Russia is the aggressor.
@@jeremyd8778 You are very right. Then we should start with US war on Vietnam followed by the other Middle Eastern countries like Iraq, Libya and Syria.
Even a 12 year old know when not to engage in a fight with an enemy twice or five times stronger. Ultimately its on Zelensky who obviously made a wrong and fatal decision that put his country and people in very very bad situation. I feel very bad for the tremendous suffering in Ukraine.
Zelensky is a puppet put there by the USA to do their bidding just as khazai was put in Afghanistan by the US. Khazai left Afghanistan in total devastation with millions of dollars in his suitcase. He did what he was told and left quietly the same will be Zelensky he will leave Ukraine destroyed with his millions of dollars payout .He does not give a shit about the Ukrainians
The professor/military man reluctantly admitted our total destruction of Iraq and Afghanistan, but he forgot Libya. Russia has not done the same, hence their slow progress in attaining their objective in Ukraine. Also, the professor is wrong claiming that Russia doesn't enjoy the support of world leaders. He may be referring to Western countries in support, but our planet extends beyond those frontiers.
Amy, brutal invasion was in Iraq. Remember, shock and awe? If Russia employed "modern warfare" as US did in Iraq, Ukraine would be under their control in a couple of days, with similar number of casualties and leveled cities and civilian infrastructure.
Comparing the absolute causality figures from Iraq an Afghanistan after those conflicts dragged on for decades to the casualties in Ukraine after 2 weeks is disingenuous at best. More than happy to talk about the crimes of America as an American, if there was justice in the world the US should be paying the people of those countries reparations and Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld should have all been dragged before an international court and tried as war criminals, but that doesn't make it any less ridiculous to compare the casualty figures of an ongoing conflict that started 2 weeks ago, where the worst humanitarian consequences of war haven't even had time to begin their impact and from which we haven't yet had a chance to properly gather reliable data, with recently concluded conflicts that went on for 2 decade.
This man is a VIETNAM Veteran . He should be very familiar with the ATROCITIES COMMITTED BY THE US ARMY IN VIETNAM. Those of us who were adults at the time, we remember very well .

This ignores the fact that Putin invaded Ukraine in 2014, and subsequently annexed Crimea. Zelenskyy has offered to make a pledge not to join NATO, and Putin has ignored him. So this argument appears specious at best.
Why is Ukraine more special and important than Americans. That trillion dollars could take care of all the homeless and all the sick people in this country Ukrainian people don't pay taxes but taxpaying Americans can't afford to pay rent anymore This makes no sense

Scott Ritter on a recent broadcast talked about how there is a NATO mission in Ukraine ( essentially a NATO base ) that has been training Ukrainian troops with NATO tactics and weapons, and that some Ukrainians have been going on NATO training maneuvers. This has been well planned by the West, and it is a reaction by Russia that has seen this happening too often and it is a threat to Russia. If one looks there is plenty of information on this, the history and reality of what has happened.
This war would have ended with less blood and loss of life if the US don't get into this war with its money. Russia was forced into a more brutal fight due to the weapons that the US is sending to Ukraine.
He doesn't understand history. He said the cold war ended. USA and Russia still can nuke the world, therefore the cold war never ended. The USA mistake is to think it ended.
It’s hard to see one very needful group suffering even though another very needful, desperately needful group is being supported. After this crisis, the homeless will need our focus and our voices to call for the Biden admin. to provide housing for all. We need to figure this out. You are correct and please keep it up! Advocate like your hair is on fire- to sort-of quote Dogen!
Mr. Bacevich, with all due respect, could you explain and give an example how to wage war by controlling violence, when the Ukrainians, in the most mean, cruel and perfidious way, place their units, artillery and snipers in hospitals, kindergartens and apartment blocks ... What more, they forbid civilians from leaving these places, as happened three times, at the beginning of the siege, when green roads for civilians were set, in Mariupol ... I think that the Russians are waging war with great care to minimize casualties among the civilian population ... If they followed the American military doctrine (Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Libya ... and now Somalia ...), 30 largest Ukrainian cities, would be turned into ruins and wiped off the face of the earth ... in the first week of the war...

I don"t understand the fact that, every time Zelensky gives a statement, he asks for additional help from the US and EU, and never satisfies, which ultimately means that he has been encouraged enormously for this war, and thats why he feels he has a right to ask for. Why the other countries simple, ordinary tax payers should finance this war because of insufficient politicians wrong calculations far from being sensible.
They are stupid including Zelensky. US and Europe knowingly encourage Ukraine to face the war. But Ukrainians are unable to see what US/Europe are doing is not in favour of Ukraine.
Most probably, Zelensky has little say as to his "statements" contest. I don't know who prepares his scripts, but, while talking to Kneset (Israeli Parliament), he compared situation in his country to the Holocaust, which was highly offensive to the Israelis, especially in light of the bestiality of Ukrainians towards the Jews during WWII. Speaking to the Japanese Parliament, he stressed nuclear danger, and repeatedly refered to Fukushima (nuclear power plant damage caused by earthquake, tsunami, and human error in March of 2011), but NOT ONCE did he mention Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Lastly, in mid-April, he released an official statement on the Internet, which proclaimed there was no Nazi problem in Ukraine, and was accompanied by combined portrait of 3 examples of "what real Nazis and Fascists look like" (unlike the Ukrainians). The 3 examples mentioned above were Benito Mussolini, Adolf Hitler, and the late Emperor Shows, known as Emperor Hirohito in the West. Needless to say, this did not go down very well here (Japan), and the Ukrainian Ambassador apologized. There have been more similar blunders, most recently in Cyprus.

Its not as if NATO suddenly invaded former east bloc countries. The Baltic states, Poland, Romania, etc. saw an opportunity to break away from the Russian yoke and live in a freer, more democratic political set up. They know the russians. The US is not afraid of Russian "dominance". It just wants another satellite customer for some of its arms. It was never honest in war doctrine regarding arming Ukraine because the US knows what Russia has and that Russia has many times greater firepower. I live in Bulgaria, and the NATO membership was imposed on us by politicians as some kind of "package deal" - if we want to become EU member the condition is first to become a NATO member, that we need to adhere to some "Euro-Atlantic values". No one knew what these Atlantic values were, we would have been happy with the European ones for sure. I am confident the ordinary people did not feel the need their country to be part of a military organization. It was most likely a kind of "carrot-stick" deal with the rulers of the country at that time. But if there was a referendum on the NATO membership, the prevailing majority would have been against NATO membership, at least in my country it was so until recently. People should not say that people of Eastern Europe aspired to become NATO members. At least in my country it was not so for sure.
@Huai Danny I am not aware of this being part of legal documents, it would be strange to link both organizations in some kind of common instrument but I am not sure. This expression is commonly used by our politicians to describe some kind of adherence to democratic values, a prerequisite of becoming part of the community of countries that respect democratic principles and this kind of blah-blah. Which does not mean anything for them of course being corrupt and violating all the time the laws with impunity.

Should the US have not intervened at all in the Syrian Civil war? I can't say. Compared to the US invasion of Iraq, the Russian invasion has been very limited and targeted.
900k deaths, injured, displaced in Iraq/Afghanistan
I’m confident that’s a very conservative number.
Definitely ukraine's doing to discredit russian soldiers.. 100% sure

Just in regard to his comments about precision weapons:
Few, however, remember that the NATO air campaign over Belgrade was largely a comedy/tragedy of errors.

“Uncalled for”? And you are using “in fact” when referring to the nazi military of Ukrainian killing civilians? What are we smoking now a days?
Bingo! Same rection here, He's not very informed.

The lack of self-awareness is appalling!
They all have to get their propaganda and virtue signal in!
@TrueFact No they went to Iraq for oil and Afghanistan for minerals and opium.Furthermore most of the 9-11 planners were Saudi nationals yet today the US is willing to ignore Saudi Arabia humanitarian rights for the sake of business. This idea that when the US invaded other nations it’s for noble reasons but when Russia does it it’s evil. You haven’t the slightest clue what you are talking about.
Not around the world. Asia and Africa knew this war start by US, similarly the ousting of Pakistan PM Imran Khan is also a US coup.
Pleased to note that someone is coming out with a more balanced view different from the narratives of the the main stream media. Has anyone bothered to ask what had been happening in Eastern Ukraine since 2014 and how many civilians lost their lives?

The Russian could have used shock and awe and bomed cities like the US did in Iraq on the first day but they did not because when you objectively and not emotionally look at the way they went in, you'd realize that they went to all length to avoid civilian casualties. Compared to US shock and awe in Iraq, close to 15,000 people were killed on the first day only. But the western media wanted you to believe that this war is the bloodiest ever.

And people are still suffering from the effects of agent orange in Vietnam
Could that be why Beau Biden died of glioblastoma? I think Joe believes that.
@@crusadinghours3505

First deployed on a large scale during the Gulf War, the U.S. military uses depleted uranium (DU) for tank armor and some bullets due to its high density, helping it to penetrate enemy armored vehicles.
When a projectile made with DU penetrates a vehicle, small particles of DU can be formed and breathed in or swallowed by service members in the struck vehicle. Small DU fragments can also scatter and become embedded in muscle and soft tissue.
Soldiers would be exposed to DU when they were on, in, or near vehicles hit with friendly fire; entering or near burning vehicles or near fires involving DU munitions;

Bacevich says "If NATO" said before the invasion that the Ukraine isn't ready to go into NATO ,,then maybe the invasion wouldn't have happened. I thought Putin was very clear ...""He said never"
Thank you your honesty and courage.
Prosperity does not come from joining Europe, for the riches of Europe come from the looting in ex-colonies around the world (essentially from Africa).
putin actually allowed lithuania and some baltic states to join nato . But ukraine was and is a real hard red line for the russian government
the problem is that firstly our CIA is off the rails if there are any. 2nd we are not honest or stable democracy. 3rd Russia used 8 exact years to see whether we would defend Ukraine as intended in the Budapest Memorandum or not which we and the UK did not, and rather than seriously address nuclear weapons, we just dropped all the nuclear treaties. We also just dropped our critical relationship with China so China has been a critical partner to Russia and fundamental in their calculus in deciding to proceed with arrack of Ukraine. China should pay a price as well!
@@jamesmedina2062 As the Chinese told Blinken in his face: 'The U.S no longer is in the position of strength to lecture China or even sanction them'. China has become an economic super power. 30 percent of all global manufacturing comes from China.
If the US is so afraid of Russian dominance in Ukraine, why is it the the US Oligarchy cant understand how the Russians fear America's dominance in Europe and its Eastward expansion? Doesnt it work both ways in a fair evaluation?
The US is not afraid of Russian "dominance". It just wants another satellite customer for some of its arms. It was never honest in war doctrine regarding arming Ukraine because the US knows what Russia has and that Russia has many times greater firepower. Of course the corruption in Washington post Trump is pretty severe so nobody of consequence will see any justice. The politicized justice system in America is now the biggest threat to the world because our leadership can do anything it pleases with no consequences.
These two people have held the most rational conversation about this war I have heard up until now. Putin is being pushed. If people had been willing to entertain the reality of "Ukraine not joing NATO" this war might have been prevented. Very sad that statespeople could not do better diplomacy. This situation--a cease fire--will necessitate such a compromise: Ukraine not joining NATO--at least for now.
8:15 Dont be fooled, russians were not going in fast and heavy in ukrain, they did not want to cause too many civilian casualties, like what usa and nato did in iraq 1 and iraq 2.
Caught on film that the Ukraines were posing as Russians and shooting their own. A horrible movie. K Mafia forever
NATO didn't invade Iraq 🙄
heavy enough. way too many apartment buildings have been destroyed. do you have seeing problems?
@@quinndawsonosgood5261 Ukraine joined in the invasion of Iraq! I guess Karma got them?
@@yawos9024 no, not how karma works.
Glad to see a rather even-handed commentator with a military background. The world needs more of those.
More boot-lickers? Nah, I'll pass.
More trolls…….
I suspect that the factual source of Bacevich is CNN.
@Vlastimil Balatý And you do? Please enlighten us
I live in Bulgaria, and the NATO membership was imposed on us by politicians as some kind of "package deal" - if we want to become EU member the condition is first to become a NATO member, that we need to adhere to some "Euro-Atlantic values".
Without NATO Russia would have invaded all the former Soviet states decades ago
@Huai Danny I am not aware of this being part of legal documents, it would be strange to link both organizations in some kind of common instrument but I am not sure. This expression is commonly used by our politicians to describe some kind of adherence to democratic values, a prerequisite of becoming part of the community of countries that respect democratic principles and this kind of blah-blah. Which does not mean anything for them of course being corrupt and violating all the time the laws with impunity.
In my option you should be very very grateful you are part of NATO or you would by swallowed up by the Bear Hitler Putin he would be killing you like Ukrainian. Would you want to turn your country over to a mad evil man ? I doubt it you have the protection of the NATO countries. I feel blessed . The reason Putin hates NATO is because he is a bully . Peace
@Huai Danny and you sound like you're listening to too much FSB propaganda. My grandfather's, uncles and cousins fought in WWII. I'm a student of history not Hollywood
@Huai Danny , the prerequisites were to buy american weapon systems... the package NATO+EU is a mask to hide = making of Europe the whore of the USA/pimp !! or a cash-cow or a goose of golden eggs as it fits you best... it's nothing about ideologies it's pure business... the USA with this war have created a wedge issue to get for decades to come (at least it's what they hope to get) of monopolistic position on the european market starting with natural gas market !
I call it progress for the Ukrainian people. Freedom and not oppression.
You guys are the best. Listening now close to 15 years and its still a well thought alternative viewpoint to our media. Thank you!
You know, just saying, I also have been listening DN for about 18 years but I think they are spiraling into “woke-ism” and (as my Dad says and I agree) and wokeism is a poison. I love my lefty lefts but DN a was wrong sided on Syria and now on this invasion also. Russia is the aggressor but Ukraine was totally packin. See the Munich security conference on TH-cam from January! Thanks comrade and solidarity
You said it right... if you exclude their lies on Syria, Russiagate and the whitewash of ukra-nazis. It's DemocraCIA Now. There are more reliable sources of information such as The Grayzone, BT News, Multipolarista.
@@rodrigofonseca6241 Agreed. Democracy Now! Is almost as useless as the MSM lately.
@@austenhead5303 It's been very disappointing to watch progressive voices fall into the traps since DT. Nine times out of ten Goodman is indistinguishable from MSNBC. Getting it right once in a while doesn't cut it when you set such a high standard for journalistic responsibility previously.

Trillions of dollars for Ukraine? but not for healthcare , education or infrastructure in the u.s.?! this is bullshit and a waste of American tax dollars ! 😡
The Democrats just passed a 1 trillion dollar infrastructure bill for the US
Yes say it.
"got money for war, but can't feed the poor" -TAS
Thank Republikkans, Sinema and Manchin.
Yes. This is the second time they have approved more money than actually requested for military spending. I can't remember any time this happened with healthcare, education, infrastructure, not even emergency economic relief in the pandemic. When it comes to guns, there isn't a squeak from either side of the aisle.
Wow, all that money that I know Americans need. China invests in itself and other countries. Most of American investments r in the Military and overthrowing governments.
no. Most US money does not go into foreign affairs. Most goes into medical for the elderly and for their living expenses. trillions.
Yes most of it goes into the Military. I learned this when i was in the Military.
For Foreign affairs.
Reason why Russia didn't take Ukraine offer was because the way Ukraine broke the Minsk agreement
