Thanks for the tutorial! It works flawlessly. I tried going the CLI route at first and felt stupid by how messy and confusing it was to use, so it felt good to see I wasn't alone in my frustrations.
Now that it is installed how to view on my Smart TV and phone? Those steps would be helpful. I have been trying to find a complete set up video and can't find one.
These tutorials are worthless without showing how to access the server remotely! Who on earth downloads an episode from the internet only to configure this shit and watch it on Chrome!
Wow thanks for the simple video! That was so easy. Even I understood it. Would I be able to access the movies and TV shows on my mobile or tablet by using thr jellyfin app when I am on my home network (with or without internet), would really appreciate if you could make a video on that.
no, the video fails to mention this is for LOCAL only. youll need to setup a port forward and static ip. also figure out how to secure your connection. im still struggling with a for dummies to get it all to work.
S installed on windows 10, ryzen CPU 16 gig ram, jellyfin the server needs to be restarted often, it seems it goes to sleep, although I have PC set to never sleep, this is driving me nuts, any help appreciated... I want to keep this on windows not Linux, thanks
I downloaded the portable version on windows today. When i launch the jellyfin.exe file (145kb) it just opens up a window similar to a command prompt and runs a bunch of commands, then nothing. The window stays open with a blinking cursor at the bottom. No system tray icon or anything.
All I want to do is update Jellyfin (on windows 11) to the newest version. Shield will run Jellyfin server without an update, I am unable to find and update icon/button within jellyfin, why is this so difficult.
I sound like Mike Judge?? Haven't gotten that one yet, but I have been informed I sometimes sound like Owen Wilson according to the TH-cam comments section. And thanks for tuning in!
Great question! That should work, but a lot of it depends on your client device and whether that can decode DD. I use an NVIDIA Shield TV Pro which handles DD, DD+, Atmos, DTS, etc. like a champ.
@@TechUpYourLife Thanks i tested this with my windows 11 laptop with a fire stick and its able to deliver quite good result, I am going to test this on a raspberry pi - 4GB Ram - let see how it works
@@TechUpYourLife Streaming from pi - as media server and Firestick still remains same as the streaming device. and for all our understanding - i tested with my old 2nd gen fire stick as well - which is working perfectly fine.
Jellyfin is horrible to setup on like a client trying to access the server from like a mobile device or smart TV. At least PLEX was like plug and play. Nothing tried to this point on internet suggestions will allow connection.
Why is it so fucking difficult to install this software? They don't make it easy for themselves for new users. Fuck this software I'm out. gonna try something else.

This is what I like, straight to the point. Thanks man for helping me. I couldn't get to the web based set up part.
Please keep this series going, id love to hear your thoughts on Mystic Force personally, that was my favorite as a teen

Thanks for this amazing guide. Really easy to follow
It's good to get back to simple. I just want something to enjoy my media library, like the days of XBMC. Great video!
Thank you for the easy set up video! I am Moving away from Plex. So i am hoping this will be a great experience.
Why are you leaving plex? just wondering :D
@@DistinguishedNoob they are becoming mainstream.
I don't care for them pushing their recommended and searching brings up their content. Not mine. @@DistinguishedNoob
My library scan is stick at 0% and not progressing. Any idea why?

play this at at least 1.5x unless you want to die of boredom.
Is there a jellyfin app? Or is it just on the browser?
there's a media player, but I think you'll still have to open it on a browser then use the media player
thanks mate!
No problem! Glad you enjoyed the tutorial!
can someone explain to me how to connect the swiftfin account to my server to watch stuff
thanks, helped me a lot
For sure! Happy to help!
thank you very much sir
How best to make it run on https on a Windows server?
Mike Judge makes Jellyfin tutorials now. lol

You didn't show how to remotely access anything.
Why does it open in a browser, tho?
Are you Owen Wilson?
Wow!
is this a safe method of a few non local users?
Yep! This should support remote streaming, but a lot of that depends on how powerful your server CPU is.
wont even start on my windows 10. tried everything. jellyfin seems worthless.
me too

Sadly a lot of good software is made by devs who don't care for being user friendly.
so slow
